In Dallas, Wednesday, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Taloreco hosted a food drive on Republicans' began their midterm convention, Caroline Love from Member Station KERA reports. Volunteers helped Taloreco distribute more than 20,000 pounds of groceries at the Frederick Douglass Human Services and Justice Center. The food drive is part of Taloreco's counter-programming to the Republican midterm convention

One of the pilots of that Amazon cargo plane that crashed while landing in Miami's Sunday warned that the plane was coming in too fast, according to the National Transportation Safety Board, which released a summary Wednesday at the cockpit voice recordings.
The NTSB said the other pilot never gave a consistent verbal response.

Ukrainian President of Volodymyr Zelensky and Canada, he arrived in Calgary last night for a three day visit, and Carpet Chuck reports said Zelensky will meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney later today. Zelensky will also address a meeting of the Canadian cabinet in the resort town of Bamfell Burda.
Carney's office says the visit will focus on strengthening defense, economic, and energy cooperation. Carney says the two will also discuss the human cost of what he described as Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, adding that Canada remains committed to supporting Ukraine's defense, as well as its recovery and reconstruction.
Since 2022, Canada has pledged six and a half billion dollars in military aid for Ukraine.

Federal government plans to remove wild horses from public lands in Colorado this month, even as state leaders are asking to freeze operations. Rachel Cohen with the Mountain West News Bureau has more. Members of Colorado's congressional delegation and governor Jared Polis are asking the federal government to stop using helicopters to gather wild horses on public lands.
The immediate concern is the inhumane nature of these helicopter roundups in which horses are terrified injured and scared. The plea comes after the Bureau of Land Management removed nearly 900 horses in Colorado in August and nine animals died in the operation. The agency says it's roundups protect the animals and range lands when populations are above target levels.
