And the language that she is speaking is Carney. Hey Drew Creme Besties. Welcome back to an all new episode of cerealously. Hello, hello, hello and welcome back to an all new episode of cerealously with me your host Annie Elise. And today's Thursday, would you usually would mean headline highlights where I walk you through everything happening this week in true crime.
However, I have a very special episode for you today. It's going to be a focus on one particular case slash situation rather than going into all of the different cases that we normally talk about. I also do not have Amy O'Brien with me today. So I apologize for all of you who are waiting for me to say hello to her. But here let me break down what we're going to be talking about together today because it's something that has been I don't know.
I've been working on this behind the scenes for quite a few weeks now. It's been very difficult to find someone who speaks this language. And maybe already know where I'm going with this based on past cases that we've covered. But let me break it down. When I released my last Mackenzie Shirilla episode, I truly believed that we were going to be done with that girl,
that we would never talk about her again. We could leave her behind in the dust and never
revisit it. However, there was this like nagging feeling that I just could not shake. And I know a lot of you were wondering to why do her and her mom has speak in this secret language, not only in some of the body camp footage that we saw, but in the jail calls. And it's, you know, a sect off of piglet and it's carny language because her mom grew up in the carnival circuit and taught Mackenzie the language. But like, why are they speaking
to each other this way? And more importantly, what the hell are they even saying? So while I thought that we were leaving the Shirilla of it all behind today, we are going to revisit
“it very briefly. And I think that this will be the last time. And the reason why is because”
I was able to track down someone who speaks that language fluently. So, you know, my nosey ass had to get in there, decode these calls, translate these calls and figure out just what the hell they were saying. So what I'm going to do is actually go through all of those old prison calls, clip out the part where they are speaking in this language, and then be joined by someone who speaks the language fluently themselves and translate
everything for you. Now, before we jump in, I did want to share some exciting news with you guys because it's that time of year. So, go sign up. Well, it's ending soon. You're welcome. Now, after listening to over 100 Jill calls between Mackenzie and her friends and her mom, and you know all of the people,
Two things really stuck out to me.
spoiled brat mode. And two, when Mackenzie talks with her mom, she does almost every single time
start talking in code. Got another girl who just got moved on our pod, and she looks lowest-looked. Well, she may be this draw. No, she looks retarded. Please call the dictation and see if you can get our video calls moved to the other terminal. Yeah, a video call, and time is angry. But I'm not using banging on a door like you're all you just got here.
“You just got here. Shut the fuck up. How old is she?”
I don't know. Probably oldest books. Like everyone else in here. Oh my god. See you though. Wait, I need something to do, I need something to do. I was like asking her, like I was like, why are you in here? She's like, oh, I do crack. I'm like, what? Yeah, yeah, she don't look like it. Oh, oh my gosh, she has the F record. When we were sitting there waiting, a guy came out with his clients.
Right, the lawyer came out with his client and he goes, man, you just did me 30. You know what you were doing. You just did me 30. And he goes, I just saved your life. Like I literally just saved your life. And he goes, you know what you did. I don't even want to get into it. And his lawyer was like, well, you can't, you can't smell crack. You can't smell crack. And he's like, you don't care. You don't know me and you don't care.
I saw that as a fuck. Yes, I was like, you don't look like you do that at all. Like you, she's pretty as fuck. Like she does it look like it. Maybe they got it early. And you know, I found out, but I'm about to sit. Do you know like cocaine is crack? I didn't know that.
Crack cocaine? I didn't know that though. I thought it was. So people are snorting crack? Yes, so I'm, I mean, that means dog did crack before.
I don't like that. I always was like, I would never do crack. I never did crack.
No. That's crazy.
“I don't like that. That is crazy. But like, as you have to smoke it, like in a place for it to be.”
Yeah, I know, right. But like why? What's different? Why is it a different name if it is what it is? Because it's like hard and softer from the outside, I was asking her about it. And then she told me like, she like burnt. Like she had a hole in her nose because of it. So I'm snorting too much. Oh my god.
Here. Oh, she's pretty as fuck though. She's like 40, 43 or something like that. She's so pretty. Like, I like her. Oh, I hope she gets paid. So like I said, the language that they're speaking is called "carny." And I'm not saying that to be disrespectful or anything. Like that because I have seen a lot of people say that it's piglet and it's this and that.
It's a version of that, but technically it is called the "carny" language, which is short for carnival.
So first one I did is I checked the case files to see if any of the investigators had any of these calls translated.
But all I could find was a single photo. So then I scoured the internet, started making some calls talking to, you know, carnival workers. Irish travelers, I don't want to say the G word, but maybe you know what I'm talking about. And when I started looking into it further, I did come across a couple of social media posts that suggested that McKenzie and her family were part of the gypsy culture.
Now, is that totally politically correct? Maybe not. I've had mixed things slide in my DM, but I'm just relying to you what it is being called out there. So if there is a better term I can use, absolutely feel free to educate me on that. But I went back into the files and I want you to listen to this clip that I found. You're kidding that my messages are working. So what were you saying about a gypsy? Oh, she was saying on that show on TLC,
“we're like, they wear them big ass dresses and like, you have to get married by like 15 in”
shit. Like, she thought was that. Oh my goodness. You know, like, no, we're like, we're like, we're like dancing a lot in the logo. Right. Yes, we're like that. Like, like, like, Stevie Nick, just all like Stevie Nick. I don't know what that is, and I don't think they know what that is either. Everybody knows Stevie Nick is like a really famous singer who dresses like a gypsy. We're just a theatrical musical type. You can say that. Yeah, we're not like the
kid. Yeah, because I actually was like, I can tell. I was like, you don't want to say it. I was like, oh, no, I mean, she was like, she was like, no, I just could tell you to talk and shit. And I was like, I'm dead as like 50 musicians and after. I mean, sorry, actors, musicians, and theater, that's where. I feel like all tips are just like creative too.
Right.
Nick says, but that's okay. So anyway, now that we've connected the dots between the
charillas and the carny talk, it's time to translate the calls. So like I said, in my quest to find the most accurate carny translator, I found somebody even better. And her name is Kate Lincoln Goldfinch. Now, Kate is not only fluent in carny, but she is also an attorney who can help answer some questions that I personally have had about these phone calls. So with that, we are going to get into this interview with Kate. My name is Kate Lincoln Goldfinch, and I'm actually an immigration
lawyer. And they sent Texas and for the last 20 years, I have been working with immigrant families in Texas. So I bring families together, keep them together, work on helping people get these those green card citizenship. And then, of course, recently, have done a lot of detained work and a ton of clients who are in detention. And I've filed federal lawsuits to get them out. So now that you've met Kate, if you're anything like me, you probably need the answer to
“one of the hard-hitting questions, which is how the heck did she even learn to speak carny?”
I recently learned that I spoke an actual language called carny. All I knew for 20 years is that my best friend taught me a language that had mom and her aunt used to speak. And when I was, you know, in my early 20s, she taught me this language and we used it to, you know, talk about things
that were pilot in public. And over the years, we've just always will revert to this language
when we're on the phone. And like, our husbands are around very close to that. And we just have this secret language. And then Kate and my attention about a year ago that there's actually a carny language that that people who work in carnal roles, I guess this is how it began, develop this language. And it's like a type of pig Latin, you know, which is just add the sound before a vowel. And so I learned that I did carny and I did a little video on finding out that I spoke carny
and really didn't think anything of it. And that video started picking that steam when the stock military came out about McKenzie Schrella. And so people are all of a sudden talking about carny again because it's what she speaks with her mom in some of her jailhouse calls. So I wanted to pick Kate's brain a little bit about McKenzie's call and figure out why she's choosing
“to use this secret language with her mom in so many of these jail calls. And here's what she had to say.”
McKenzie uses the language in her jailhouse calls is really kind of silly because the way that she uses it is to talk about people who are annoying her. She's talking about people who are, you know, in her, like, cell block area, or she's talking, she talks about a certain guard who really
annoys her and she's basically gossiping about people and just switching to the language.
It's clear that, like, probably she's just in the habit of switching to the language when she's gossiping about people. She's not discussing anything about her case. She's not revealing any details. I think that would also be rather foolish because it's so easy to decipher this particular language. But I don't know. I mean, I don't know if she had the expectation that people that the guards would be listening to these calls, which very much may be the case. I mean,
generally every jailhouse phone call is recorded and who has access to the recordings can really differ whether it's going to be the investigators or the prosecutors or the guards. You know, that's going to be different at every facility. And so people who are detained, unless they are on a
“privileged confidential call with a lawyer, which you have to schedule differently,”
should be under notice that their calls are being recorded and can be listened to by anyone including the people who are trying to go ask them. So now that we have a little bit of background information, let's jump right into the calls. And I think the easiest way to do this and to follow along is for me to play the clip and then as soon as that clip finishes, we're going to cut back to Kate translating. Hey, put on. Your eyes are so pretty, you know.
Yes, he pretty is fun. He's calling him here. Hey, mom. Hey, mom. Hey, so you have faith in the car. Do you have faith in the car? Uh-huh. Um, hey, faith. Hold on, let's take it, let's take it. Hey, faith again. Hey, faith. Hi, baby girl. I love you so much. I tried to draw you a little hard. They all can see that I love you all, but I couldn't like, we didn't see in it. Don't worry. Okay, good. I'll be there tomorrow too. All right. I love you guys so much. Like,
Tell everyone I said, I love them and thank you for coming to court because y...
the phone. You both out. I need it. I know. I need to tell you something though.
Okay. See, though, you don't need to tease. I'll be this crazy. It's a reason I need to
“tease. I'll be to tease as these are the keys that me to ease. I need to tease like we thought, please or. Is that where you've been? Jesus. Okay. That's what I saw. And I'm talking to my buddy.”
And she said that probably the best possible place you can be. Put on my cheek and I only get one call that I got to go on my room. Or I would just. I will, but let me finish this call and if you give me another one, I got you. See, that you're asking me to feed or either three. Today we like cheese all of a sudden, she and I'm scared they're in me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me there, me
You know, use a key then, B.J. C, that means if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then, if you use a key then,
- Yeah, I just came here the other day. - I was called me. - What, what did you say mom? - Gonna call me for you. - Who called?
- C.C. - No way! - She did.
- Oh hell no, what did she say I'm there?
- Everybody's thinking about you. - She's your husband, stay strong. - Yep. - What did you say to her? - I'm self-own number.
- I just said, oh my God, you're so sweet. I love you so much, so good, that's so nice. So yeah, I gotta go. You just tell her that everybody's thinking about her and the same strong and we love her.
- Oh!
“- She said, so you need to call this place right now”
because they put me on the psych ward floor. - Not the most damning translation, obviously, but still, is it just that they spoke in this language so regularly that it just comes out that way? Sometimes when people even speak foreign languages,
sometimes, you know, what are they, what's that term like? Spanglish, when it goes from English to Spanish, and it's just easy, possibly. Here's the next clip.
Starting something new is exciting, but also terrifying.
Now, when I first left my corporate job
and decided to build this business full time, I remember constantly wondering, what if this doesn't work? What if nobody listens? What if I take this huge leap and completely fall on my face?
Now, obviously, I'm very glad that I didn't listen to that fear, but one thing that I've learned is that building a business is so much easier when you have the right tools supporting you.

- Hello. - Hey. - These are fees or fees like these. You mean that or you like these? These are fees and fees like these or fees like these.
- Whatever. - If I ask these are fees or these are fees or them, is then cheating with these like, you don't need that keys, cheating with them. You don't need that.
“These are fees, you don't need that key.”
If these are fees or fees, if these are fees or fees or fees, you don't need that key. If these are fees or fees or fees. You don't need that key.
The key thing is I'm need that key.
The key thing is to be just fees or fees or fees. - Okay, then just let it go. - What's okay? - Okay. - Oh my, jean number.
- You're what? - Jean number, 'cause I'm running on the remission. - Well, you can't, if she why, don't. - Okay, thought I'm not going to, but I'm here to look. - I know, I'm not mad.
- Don't do it, let me, let me talk to them again because I'll talk to somebody else, not her, but you're not going. - She's our staff all fucking date. - Okay, then just wait until tomorrow.
- Okay, well, you're going to call again. - Okay.
“- And you really need to say a video visitation.”
Like right now. - Honey, it's pending. I can't, I can't even get in there yet. - What's pending? - My login and stuff.
You don't have any video call yet, right? - No, but this one other girl has two. And I'm looking at them, and I want, I want to go. - I know you do. We have to wait, it's pending.
- Okay, which is on, it takes a little time to set stuff up. - Okay, but leave the whole life that thing alone. - All right. - I'm really annoyed, so please call again. - I will, but you got it just chill, okay?
- Yeah, I am, but like, oh, and I found a little order for myself, like, kind of, I did, underwear. I did, I did like the salted peanuts, and it's too pickles, some more shibang, 'cause I like them.
- Good. - And I just let you, like, do everything, you can just look there. - Okay, but I already, I kind of rid of my time. I got the stuff that we kind of both added.
- All right, okay. - Well, let me, I'm on a phone call right now. So let's call again, you know, in a little bit.
- Call, I don't want to fill my whole hour first thing.
- No, I'm saying, please, all these are decent, please. - I will, I'll follow up. Like, right after I get off the hook you. - I, I will follow up. I have daddy go do it in person, okay?
- Okay. - I don't have an hour to talk to you. - All right, I love you so much, Mom. - Please, I love you too, I love you, bye. - I love you, bye.
- Bye. - Bye, bye, bye, I love you. - Love you, love you. - The caller has hung up. - I'm so mad right now, this bit, she pisses me that fuck off.
- She was like, you are not getting one. You are not, you're not getting a form. I don't give a fuck. I don't care if your mom talked to the sheriff or what. You are not getting one, I'm not giving you the form.
- Here, she obviously sounded a little more aggressive. Maybe she's trying to mask that she feels entitled, bratty, angry, I don't know, all of the above, but definitely seems more irritated. Let's roll into the next one.
- You're weird to doubt by all your messages? - Yeah, well, so weird to men. - Yeah, that's weird. Cynthia and Ms. Kent are gonna come and visit you with soon as they can't.
- Hurry. - Do you want to me to tell you? - Yep, and she said, you told my little shirtaboga, "I know she did not do whatever body is saying." She said, "I got to meet her real.
"I got to meet her, I know who she is." - Oh my God, you hear her like fucking gagging and throwing up
Tell me to be as I love her.
- Why is she doing that? - She just been fucking gagging all day, stop. This bit of note, it was that you saying that. - I heard you, did you hear me? She's blowing me like imagine being in the room next to that,
like, you didn't hear like, "Hey, like, shut up!" Huh? - I'm back out in the wall? You guys are like, "Like shut up!" You know what you're saying is fuck.
- Fuck! - Fuck! - She didn't. You are annoying Ms. Kent. (laughs)
These are ways I'm afraid to do that. We like, we like, easy to meet there.
“They're the key to meet or she's already there.”
She's like, "She's like, "She's like, "She's like, "She's like, "Oh, good." (laughs) - Oh my God. - Damn, Daisy sent me, "Hellie, should hate girl. "I love you, I understand."
I don't want to talk, look, I know I'm here for you to do it.
I will always be there for you.
If we didn't know each other a long time, but I'm glad we did. I got the chance to know you. I know you're going through a lot. So I'll give you my number.
When you're ready to call me, hold on. I got to write this to you then. - Yes. - Why are you not messaging me? - Mom, I go in order.
I've hellish it in my bra. We never did search to your two, which kind of weird me to fuck out, 'cause I'm used to getting searched. - That's kind of weird.
- Yeah. I just want Monday to come and go through with a move on. Like, let's go. - Yes, me too. - Right.
- Okay. She's in, do you want me to send you the old letter or wait? Either way, I'll hold on to them if you want to wait. I'm very sorry for going through what you're going through. I know you're probably scared and mad.
I was too not knowing what was ahead for me going to do.
I promised I'll be here for you, I'm glad. I got to meet your family. They need me so comfortable around them. More than my family does the two times I've been around them since my son passed.
I'm going to take your mom later and ask her to ask your lawyer if I can write you a character letter. - Ooh. - I love him as you grow. Keep your head up and stay strong.
- She's such an American horror story. - So once again, not the kindest remarks, but not necessarily like she's trying to speak in code to cover something up or to quiet some of the information about the case or possibly even lie about something.
It's more almost as though she's trying to mask
“what I believe to be her true personality,”
which is like entitled "Bitch" through and through. Let me play the next one. - Diamond gave me all her shit when I left the entered to the other end shit. - Oh good.
- Because you're eating. Oh my God. She just talked about that.
I didn't put it on the way home.
- But what else did you get here? - What do you mean? - Oh, Helen Nudel's juice. - What? - Yeah, I have Nudel's juice.
I have like, I'll come right now. - Helen Nudel's juice? - Helen Nudel's? - Oh. - A lot of Nudel's and junctions.
- That sounds like the name of the juice. - Oh, good. - It's so good. - She used to be such a cute lady, and we're not kidding you don't reach her.
- She's so lazy. - Is that a devil? - What do you mean? - Like metal. - Jesus, she's either, she's off,
or she's on breathing. She's using, she's using, like, she's using, realizing, and for instance, and she's using, she's like, she's using, she's using.
She's on breathing. So, it's like, she's already using. - Oh. - Is it, she's in, I don't know.
We use these, these, these like, these out. - Right. - She's her, she's all being on these, and these are, isn't it? It's everything is, isn't it?
She's using, she's a lot more, isn't it? - Or it'll? - Yeah, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, it'll, - She's leaving alone.
This is my phone call. On that, no, I don't wanna answer. - Yeah, I know, I'm just, is there a reason for you, she's using, she's using, is there a reason for you,
or is that, she's talking, is there a reason for you, is that, to be this. Yeah. She's easy. Like, easy.
These are easy. These are easy. These are easy. These are easy. These are easy.
These are easy. These are easy. These are easy. These are easy. These are easy.
These are easy. These are easy. These are easy. These are easy. They are easy.
They are easy. They are easy. They are easy. These are easy. These are easy.
These are easy. These are easy. These are easy. These are easy. These are easy.
These are easy. These are easy.
“Oh, then I gotta check. She's done on Snapchat. You need to block her on Snapchat. Okay.”
Because that's weird as well. And make sure I'm wrong. Do you think to make like a list of people that like, you need to be like, like, watched and blocked?
Like, that are like weird as well.
That's true.
“What's there? What did Jenny get from the ice cream truck? Can I just get some sandwich?”
You got it. This is silly.
Oh, it really touched me today. It's me that's birthday tomorrow.
So, and then did-- Oh, the daddy's not here, so they're actually going to come over Friday, but they-- You have one to have today, that they love you so much, and they're with you till the end. All of it. Every day, every day. I have weird feelings about them right now, so I'm going to call you back again if I can.
Are you still working? Can we try and do our 730? What time is it? 724. Oh.
We'll call me again, and then we'll just hang up and try and do our 730. Oh, no. It says this terminal will be started one minute. Please finish your use. So I'm about to get on and see if I can get on the call with you. Okay. I'm going to do it. She's there. She's carrying out her age. She's 30 or she's 40.
She doesn't think I'll be ready to do that, even if you can't do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it.
She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it.
She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it.
“Every time she comes over here, she thinks I'm talking about something important.”
She thinks I'll be ready to do it.
“She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it.”
She wears me to fuck out.
She's your keys on me. She's not even even even. She's a woman. But is out and everything. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it.
She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. Every time she comes over here, she's like, and I didn't catch anything.
She's like, "Did you do anything?" She's like, "Did you do anything?" She's like, "Did you think I'll be ready to do it?" She's like, "Did you think I'll be ready to do it?" She's like, "Did you think I'll be ready to do it?"
She's like, "Did you think I'll be ready to do it?" She's like, "Did you think I'll be ready to do it?" She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it." She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it.
She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. She doesn't think I'll be ready to do it. These aren't like damning things where they were speaking in code and trying to talk about the case.
Or dropping a bomb shell relating to the case. But still, I was curious enough about this language. I know many of you have been as well. You've been damning me. I've seen it on social media.
So, because I love you guys, and I'm your true privacy, I had to go the extra mile, get these calls translated, and let you know what the heck she was saying. And if there's anything else you want me to have translated by Kate, just feel free to let me know.
I thought that the jail calls were, you know, that was a good place to start. So, let me know what you think. Let me know what you think it means if it means anything. If she was trying to mask her true personality. And that's why she was speaking in code language or what.
Curious to know your thoughts.
All right, guys.
“Thank you so much for tuning in to another episode with me today.”
Until the next one, you know the drill.
The next dessert is a new thing.
It doesn't, it doesn't, it doesn't.
It doesn't, it doesn't.
“Because there is it to do. Was I, because I'm so surprised?”
Be nice. Don't kill people.
And let's be done with Mackenzie-Sharella, once and for all. All right. Thanks.
