I'm Clayton Eckard, in 2022, I was the lead of ABC's The Bachelor.
“But here's the thing, Bachelor fans hated him.”
If I could press a button and rewind it all I would, that's when his life took a disturbing turn. A one-night stand would end in a courtroom. The media is here. This case has gone viral. The dating contract.

So recently, I had the incredible opportunity to have a real conversation
with the actress and producer Jamie Lee Curtis from routines to recovery, true lies, and a certain German, Jackson music video.
“Jamie's real and raw, and something I really admire about her.”
I am so happy that I'm the head bitch and charge at 67 that I have the perspective that I have at my age to really be able to put all of this into context. Listen to the Quest Love Show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

The official trading cards to the Dan Patrick Show. Good morning. Those watching the program on Peacock and BC Sports Network. Prairie View versus Lehigh tonight, Miami, Ohio, in a must-win situation, it feels like against SMU, Howard over UMBC last night in Texas over NC State.
Looks like we have a verbal agreement, maybe with the WNBA, nothing paper-wise, but they're pretty close to getting this season finally started, a little bit late. Venezuela over the United States, three, two, and in case you don't follow this closely, or maybe you just started following this closely, the WBC doesn't come back until 2030.
And there'll be a lot of conversation, a lot of dialogue about, "Hey, why don't we attach this to the all-star weekend?" I get it. But keep in mind, this isn't until 2030. You still have the Olympics in there, and the momentum that you have now is maybe just a springboard for the upcoming season.
That's the way I'm looking at it, because I don't know if Bryce Harper is going to be around in four years for his 19th year in the Biggs. You know, certain players who's going to be around in four more years, you like the rivalries, but it really started. You know, because I'd watch the WBC, I've went to the WBC,
when it first started, but it kind of became bigger. Kind of it's coming out party was when Showhail Tony struck out Bryce or Mike Trout in 2023. That was it.
I mean, that's where it was like, okay, you got to see two of the best players.
And here's how Tony pitching against Mike Trout and striking him out.
“But it was fun last night. I enjoyed, you know, most of this.”
Like, they didn't matter who was playing. I felt like I was tuned in because I saw players certainly with the other countries who really, really cared. And maybe it's not fair to label the United States as did they really care or non-carrying.
I just know they didn't care or show they cared as much as some of these other countries. And you saw that with Venezuela. This was more than just winning the WBC far more than that. All righty, pull question from our one, Satan, and what are we going with an hour or two?
Yeah, we got up right now, hour one. We have should the world baseball classic stay in the preseason or move to the all-star break. Right now, I'm calling up. Let me dial up these results quickly. Thank you. Thank you. Right now, people have it staying in the preseason. But it's close. It's about a 64. I'm fine with it staying in spring training.
I don't want my players like it, it isn't all-star break. And if you go to the all-star game and it feels like it's a relaxing period. The all-star game's not really competitive. I mean, they have some fun. But I got to worry about my players for the rest of the season.
You know, I don't want to have you gear up for something, you know,
“really important in July and something happened to you.”
If something happened in spring training at the WBC, there's still time that I don't mortgage my season with a player or players who would get injured. I'm okay with spring training. All right, we'll get some more phone calls coming up, 8773D P-show. A couple of things Max Crosby has a podcast and it's called The Rush with Max Crosby. And he started talking about what happened in Baltimore.
I thought it was fascinating because you're thinking we're trading two first-round picks.
We're getting Max Crosby. We're going to be a Super Bowl contender. All of a sudden, Max Crosby brings his family. They come into town and all of a sudden, they don't roll out the red carpet. They didn't roll out any carpet. And Max Crosby said something was off in the building. You waited. He was waiting to meet with, you know, Jesse Mentor, the new head coach.
He said, "Go back to the hotel. He took its physical." So he said, like, "Well, let's go on here." Here is Max Crosby on the Ravens' concerns over his knee surgery. Going to the room, they sent me down on the couch and he said, "Man, I don't want to say this, but one of our doctors has concerns with the results and whatever and with your knee,
some of them have our concern about the future and that a da da da da." You know, we really want you and this is what it is, but, you know, we're just going to have to
get more and more opinions. At the first time my head, like, I was terrified because I'm thinking of my
head, like, what the f***, like, I just had, like, kneels, the kneel-electroch, best surgeon in the country, like, the best of the best. He's done all my surgeries for the most part. Like, I haven't even got to talk to him or I haven't got to talk to CJ at that point. So he just kind of hit me. I'm like, "What the f*** is there something wrong?" Like, I'm freaking out. Like, "Loki, deep down." I'm like, "I can't get another surgeon." I can't, like, my time on,
they just s*** up. So I'm like, "What is going on, bro?" So then Max decides he's going to call his surgeon after his physical. They tell me, like, "Yeah, we're going to get back to you, like, we're going to get some more opinions and things like, "We obviously want you to listen to that." And I'm like, "I like, okay, so we'll see." So I don't know. So then I leave. I'm like, "This is what the f***." I get back to the hotel,
bro. I'm like, "What the f*** is going on?" Like, "What does this mean?" Like, I'm calling whatever. Then I talked to Neil and Neil calls me and he called me way down. He's like, Max, don't listen to any of that. He's like, "Your knee is great. You're exactly where you're supposed to be. You even had a schedule. He's like, "You're doing everything." Right? He's like, "They know. You had your surgery nine weeks ago." It's obviously if you get MRI, he's like, he's like,
showing me literally, like, the actual literature of, like, this is where it needs supposed to be at for a meniscus repair. Like, there can be MRIs. It can be misleading because it's still fresh and surgery. And this and this and this and he's like, "Listen, you're doing everything right. Everything's going well. We're going to keep sticking to the planet." He's like, "You will be back by training camp." That has been the, "Tomless is a beginning that hasn't changed." Okay.
“I think the Ravens got cold feet. I think that it was, you know, when you put a bit in on”
a house and they accept the bid and then it pending, you know, inspection. And then all the sudden, you go, "I don't know. Do we want to buy this house?" I think we're going to spend too much.
You know, maybe we find something in the inspection.
You're giving up two first-round picks for Max Transby. I don't know what you thought that
“need was supposed to look like nine weeks after surgery. And that's where it felt like they,”
they wanted to come up with a reason. Now, this is just my thought. That it felt like, you know, on second thought, we don't want to give up these first-round draft picks. How about we get tray Hendricks and we don't have to trade for him and we can sign him to similar money. And we're going to get somebody who's kind of Max Transby is not as good, but we need an excuse. And we got an excuse. And that is, we don't think the knee can hold up long term.
So you can say that. Now, you can be vague. And if else not doing anything. And if LPA is not doing anything, it's your opinion, it's your doctor. And, but it felt like it was by remorse. And I felt bad for Max Transby because here he is saying to buy to the Raiders. You're going to bold more. You get there. And he's kind of trying to figure out, "Lane a minute. Is this how they greet their players?" Here's Max talking about flying to Baltimore.
So I get there. I get to the hotel. Oh, no, this is the other part. They picked me up. They
flew me to DC. Oh, because there wasn't many flights. They flew them. It's like we flew first glass.
They picked, they flew me to DC because I was only straight through. I we had to drive two hours from DC all the way to Baltimore. After the five hour flight. That was, that was bad. Winning. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm like, "Dane a minute." You're sitting on a plane all there. Like, I just want to go and lay down for a second, catch my thoughts. Bro, two hours in the car. I'm like, "This is crazy." Yeah, but if Baltimore decided, they were going to keep him
he would have been okay with that. It's now looking back. It's like, you know, you can't get a private plane from Max Crosby. After having these surgery nine weeks ago, the knee that you're really concerned about. I'm surprised that they didn't put him in coach. Coach. Yes, that's got to be one of those things if you're Max Crosby and you're on your way. You're
“like, "All right, I'm excited. This is going to be fun." Am I going to have to do this all the time?”
Like, this drive is cool one time. Yes, but I'm not going to have to do this every time I travel for this team. Yeah, it spires remorse. That's all this is in my opinion. They realized,
hey, let's make a smart it now. I agree with what they did that you don't give up those first round
picks and you can bring in, tray Hendrickson. I don't know how health, he's been injury prone as well last couple of years, but I guess Max Crosby is going to be a rater. At least for now, the apple. He shows up at the airport in DC and there's a guy standing there. M and Crosby got a little sign. Are you him? Yeah, I'm the guy with 19 tats. Yeah. Yeah, a couple of phone calls in here. Carry in Minnesota. Hi, carry. What's on your mind today?
Hey, carry. Carry. Curtis in Illinois. Curtis, what's on your mind today? Morning, D.P. Morning. How are you guys? We're talking about like the dead cap money that Miami has this year at like 75, where seems to blow out every other teams dead cap throughout history. So I guess my question is if you're salary caps 300, could the NFL impose a minimum salary for your active
“roster? Because the only thing I found was that you have to spend 90% of your salary over a”
four year span, but dead money gets included in that. Because if you're the Dalton's wife, I'm really close to this money. If you're still paying to a, and then you can't feel a competitive team. Yeah, I don't know about that. The language there. I did talk to somebody last night because J.C. Trader is going to be the head of the NFL player association. And I was asking a source. I said, what does this mean? He said, well, keep this in mind. The NFL was going to fast track an 18-game
schedule for this upcoming season. Now, this was, this was with the previous head of the NFL player association. And then you had that mess and then, you know, going to strip clubs and, you know, so then the NFL PA has got to earn the trust back. And it felt like had things stayed in place. Who was the previous head of the NFL player association? But if he had stayed in that job from what we learned last night that they were, they were probably going to be on pace to
Fast track 18 games.
you know, go. Anyway, the, the person, Lloyd Howell. There you go. Lloyd Howell was in that position
and then he was shown the door. But he was probably, from what I'm told, the NFL would probably be looking at an 18-game schedule this upcoming season. Had he stayed in office, working with the NFL. But now with JC Trader taking over and, you know, he's got a tough job here. Got to earn the trust back with the NFL players. And then, you know, you're going to have that TV contract coming up here with the NFL as well. But 18 games right now, you know, the commissioners said, well,
“I haven't even talked about it. Well, they have. Of course they have. But I think they probably”
would be looking at 18 games. Had the previous guy been able to keep that job working with the NFL. All right. Let's see Russell in Philly. Then we'll take a break. Nick Wright will join us.
Hi, Russ. Hey, what's up, Dan? Hey, man. Six, six, one, two, 17. First and foremost, I like to
congratulate Howard University at their first level in Wyoming. And if you've got a late tournament, congratulations to the Bicycle. Second of all, we'll do supported in the US. It felt like we were playing in a business well on G. So it was over so long down there with the business well. I've not started for the guys. And lastly, no one ever talked about James Winston is down there in Miami. Would that be a competition? Would it get rid of the other gentlemen or would they just give it to
our Willis? I'll hang up a listen. Have a good day, guys. All right. Thank you, Russ. I didn't know James Winston was in Miami. Yeah, see. And if it is a competition, a quarterback competition between those two guys, you know, everybody needs to be fired. You can't bring in Malik Willis. Spend a bunch of money and be like, I don't know. I kind of like James, you then fire everybody. Yes, it's over. This is different than Kyler Murray going to Minnesota for competition with
JJ McCarthy. Right. You know, we still got James and not then fire everybody. If you had James and
“your comfortable with James, then don't bring in Malik Willis. Yeah, what do you bring it in?”
In fact, it makes more sense to keep James there for the next two years, then bring in Malik Willis. Yes, Paul. I have James Winston still as a New York giant as of his contract. I don't see any changes. As of his what? As his current contract. Okay. I don't know where the caller got the information there of James is in Miami. Wait, is he just in Miami visiting or living there? And nothing to do with him actually playing for the dolphins. All right, we'll take a break. More phone calls coming

I grew up really poor. I didn't know that then because I very much used my creativity to remain to size life and I'm like my mom did a really good job of like you step back and you're like whoa we I don't know how we made it. So a lot of my life was like built out of like survival to get to the next place. Like my drive, my like tunnel vision of like I got to be better. I got to achieve this was off the strength of like I want to make a better life for us.

I'm Daniel Jeremiah and I'm Greg Rosenball and this is 40s and free agents. The games
may be over but the NFL never stopped. This is my favorite part of the calendar.
Yeah my two Greg. Free agency. The combine. The NFL draft protease trades. This is where teams

down every move that actually matters. For my draft evaluations mock drafts and team fits to my top 101 free agents and how real rosters are built, cap space, contracts and all the tough decisions included. Listen to 40s and free agents on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. I saw where Matt Lyner, former USC great Heisman trophy winner. I guess somebody maybe a recruiting coordinator at USC ask if he would allow them to unretire his jersey. Number 11 at USC and he said no. And why do we retire a jersey? Can we honor a jersey? Do we have to retire? You know the Yankees have retired 22 numbers including 1 through 10. Now I don't know if Matt Lyner will unretire.
You know, as he said, hey, I'm going to unretire my jersey and get, well, you know what Marvin play that. Then we'll get to Nick Wright. So here is Matt Lyner being asked to unretire his jersey at USC. When I was at USC, I got my number retired. There's been multiple times where people at USC have asked me if I would unretire my jersey for some five star prospect. And do you want to know
what I told those guys straight up? Absolutely fucking not. I have never gone to unretire my jersey
for some random dude who by the way now could wear number 11 in transfer after a year. The only person that will ever wear my USC number 11 would be coal. Okay, coal being his son. We apologize for
That that slipped by the goalie there.
is saying no or Matt Lyner being asked. A recruit saying, hey, I want that jersey number.
Yes, this liner said, hey, somebody may come in. They might be here for a year. I'm going to
“unretire my jersey number. And if you win a high school at USC, I think you get your jersey retired.”
But we can honor like the Cowboys. Don't they honor numbers? They don't retire them. Yes, Todd. But Matt and no one else, that's the situation should be asked directly. I mean, put on the spot. And I had absolutely no problem with him saying no. There was it was retired. That's the number no one gets to wear. And it's multiple times that he was asked. Yes, he. Yeah, you know, I don't know that I've ever really thought about the concept of retiring
numbers is not being a good idea. But that, you know, a ring of honor is makes way more sense than
retiring them. It's bringing a Nick Wright host. The first things first on Fox Sports 1 and what's
right with Nick Wright, you can find it on YouTube wherever you get your podcast. To me again, please. What now? Because I'm sitting here listening to just a chorus of bad takes and my mic's not on. And I can't fix any of it. I don't know what every take I heard there was was bad. The first of all, retiring jerseys is awesome. And you're like all the Yankees they've retired 22 numbers. Well luckily we're not running out of numbers. Luckily we got plenty more to come.
So we're fine. That's first of all. Second of all, it's not the recruits fault for asking. The recruit that wasn't born when Matt Lyner was playing for USC. He doesn't know every school
that's recruiting and the list of retired numbers. It is the school's fault for then asking Lyner.
“Like you can't put it on it because I remember something I would Steve large in Seahawks number”
and they went and asked his family, no if you make it should there should be gravity to retiring a number. And then you can't then retroactive. Like didn't have a Lawrence Taylor and Abdul Carter. You can't then go ask the guy to unretire it. I had another take here but I forgot it. There's just so many bad takes in there. Oh I know I don't have a take. I have a very very good hold on hold on Deadpool. Okay Nick. Let's say the New York Giants football team. They've retired 14 jerseys and a
hundred years. Unless the earth ends in 400 years they're going to run out of numbers at some point. Based on this pace. Right. I understand which is why it is now now the threshold to have your number retired only raises. It becomes much much harder as it should. And so I'm fine with that. Also, you're anticipating Paul of 400 year future where we don't where it's still there is a taboo on three digit jerseys numbers. Who's to say that world doesn't exist? That's all of
sudden. Number 154. There's another wrong with that. Can I tell you a quick Matt Leonard anecdote. I'm going to. Two years ago I'm at Yankee Stadium for the World Series walking through the Concourse and I'm walking and I see someone who's a little taller than the crowd who I don't instantly recognize except and I'm walking by myself and I'm pretty secure in my masculine of the intersectionality. But I'm just being honest with my friend's damn Patrick and crew.
And in my brain my inner monologue is that might be the most gorgeous person I've ever seen in my life. Just standing almost like a sending past the crowd. And then I'm like, wait, this person is walking towards me. Wait, this person is extending a hand and then I realize, oh that's Matt Leonard who I've worked with. But I was just so disarmed by just seeing him in the wild and
“his natural beauty. Did you tell him that? I, uh, I think I told him on the air the way I told you”
guys maybe I didn't mention being come from my sexuality part of it. I didn't want to make them uncomfortable. Well, you haven't been around Brady Quinn then. So, you know, you know, not my time. Brady Quinn is CGI. You know, speaking of bad takes, you're Matt Leonard. Okay. All right. Did you want my college basketball top five? You got one? Well, I feel like there are three must include. Okay. We're going to do players you saw. Oh, no. I can't do it. Okay. I don't have
that ready. Okay. Um, Kareem is my five. Lou Alcender. Walton's my four. I'm going to play on both and I think they'll figure it out. And pistols my two. There is a debate at point, Oscar magic. I'm going to go Oscar and then there is, uh, not a hole, but the only hard position to fill is your
Three.
you on if you think I am being too much of, you know, a slave to the history and that the
“youngest guy on my team is Larry Bird. That does seem a little odd. I'm being honest. Um, but I don't”
the, I don't know that anyone else comes to mind. And it is the greatest college basketball
players of all time, unlike almost any other ranking, are going to always be these old timers because
nobody is going to play three or much less four years moving forward. So like you'd have to go to like a Doug McDermott type and he's not, he doesn't make my team with respect. Well, you could have Grant Hill in there over Doug. I was, so I thought about Grant Hill. I wanted to find a way for my guy Jerry McNamara and his greatest biggest tournament ever to find at least at least somewhere beyond the roster. Um, I did not have, you know, it Tim Doug, the greatest college basketball
players I've seen, I'm going to, handsboro, handsboro would be better remembered if he never played in the NBA. He was such a dominant college. Yeah, but you got to put lateiner in there over Tyler handsboro. And this is going to make you, I didn't see lateiner. Well, you didn't see Oscar. No, but I was just saying guys that I've, I was doing a new list where I did guys that I've seen. Wait, you didn't see later as born in 84. So technically I saw him, but I have no memory.
Okay. Like the first college basketball team that I have vivid memories of is the AI Georgetown team.
Okay. So, you know, so like 96, 90 something, um, Tim Duncan to the greatest college basketball player that I, you know, that I watched start to finish. And I, you know, Jerry McNamara, you know, is really of my lifetime. Mellow have the best season. I'm a, I'm a Syracuse guy, but mellow have the best season. Durant probably was the most dominant. If you don't care about the winning portion of it in college, like the most dominant single season of, you know, this century in my opinion.
I'm talking to Nick Wright. You can check him out on YouTube wherever you get your podcast. What's right with Nick Wright? And of course, Monday through Friday, first things first on Fox Sports One. Help me understand the logic of the Miami Dolphins here. Oh, you know, I actually support what they're doing. And I think that just taking your medicine and saying, we're not going to do a half measure here. We made some very, very aggressive moves, thinking we were championship
contender. We weren't. And rather than peace mealing it, we are ripping it down in a way. Not, I mean,
$300 million salary cap, 150 million in dead money. And by the way, still 45 million in dead
money coming a year from now on to his deal, we're going to deal with that. Now, I think the reason people take issue with that is, well, then why sign milk willus? And my answer to that is, Jeff Hathley has, you know, familiarity with them. In order to evaluate any of, I assume they're
“going to draft a receiver, like young players on the roster, you need to have a level of competency”
at quarterback. And if they end up having the number one pick, but they think, despite that milk shows them enough, then they can really supercharge the reload by flipping that number one pick. And if they, you know, if he plays well enough for them, not to have the number one pick, then they sign the right guy. And if not, it's not like they signed him to a five year huge guarantee. So it, and even if they get the number one pick and draft a quarterback, you still might be like, okay,
but milk, you start next year. And then maybe he's a trade chip if he plays well. So I think what they're doing logically, if I was, if you said Nick, you're taking over the dolphins, I would have done a lot of the same things. Like, let's take our medicine right now and then try to move forward. But they are going to be the worst team in the league by a lot, by a lot next year. Who's more all in the Broncos or the Rams? Oh, the Rams. I don't, I don't necessarily view the Broncos as
“all in. I think that they made a smart trade. I like the water trade. He's only 27. He's on a reasonable”
contract. Like, I usually don't like trading first round pick plus for aging player, but he's not really aging. He doesn't make a ton of money. The Rams are again, there's, there's not a lot of
Franchises that I think are, you know, run well and by, well, I mean the way ...
Rams recognizing, we, we have the oldest excellent quarterback in the league. So let's, let's not
“treat 20, 29 as valuable as 20, 26. I think it's super smart. The Broncos saying our window is open,”
opening. So we don't want to go all in, but we also want to take advantage of the moment. And it's a very interesting thing with the disbursement of receivers across league. I would argue right now this moment. There's more talented receivers than any other time in NFL history. But there's also two divisions that don't have any of them. The AFC West in the AFC East where jail and water walks in and he's the best receiver in the division by a lot. DJ Moore who I don't
love, but walks into the AFC East and he's the best receiver in the division by a lot. When neither one of those guys would be the fourth best receiver in the NFC North so to speak. So they, you know, I think that was a smart move by Denver. More surprising that the chief's brought in just in fields or Travis Kelsey came back. I, right after the Super Bowl, I thought Travis was going to be done as the off season went on. I then came to believe he's going to run it back another year.
So I wasn't by the time we got to the announcement. I wasn't surprised. I was surprised that there were folks, some friends of mine in the NFL media that were willing to be like breaking news.
Travis Kelsey listening to other teams. No he wasn't. Like I've never, like there, there was a
“0% chance he was going to play for anybody else and I think everybody knew that. I really like”
the fields edition because they, they gave up nothing. So he's price wise, very cheap for a backup. Three million bucks. Gardner mentioned who's the chief's back of last year. It's got paid seven million. You can say, well, they traded the sixth. But because of the NFL's, we were comp, pick formula, had they signed a backup. They would have lost to seventh. So they ended up essentially getting him for nothing. And I wanted the chiefs four years ago, Dan, to sign Cam Newton. So we can
run quarterback sneaks again and maybe have just make teams when they play the chiefs. Spin 10 minutes of practice that week, dealing with the wildcat quarterback run package. And so now Cam is still available, Nick. I know, and I pitched it to Cam, but Cam's building
his media empire. So I, if you're, if you were to tell me Patrick is going to miss the first
month of the season, which I do not think is going to happen, I would have rather had Kurt cousins as my backup quarterback. If you were to tell me Patrick's going to be there in week one, I would rather have just in fields because once Patrick is back in healthy, Kurt cousin serves
“no utility. I think fields can get on the field, even once Patrick is back in health.”
Yeah, I agree. I like the signing. I've been a stubborn Justin Fields fan. I mean, he was in a bad situation. I thought he played okay in Pittsburgh. And maybe he does that, you know, reclamation on the 13 Sam Darnold like gets an opportunity to like Malik Willis did in Green Bay. For him, this is the either Kansas City or the Rams would be the two places I would want to go if I were him, where it's like you don't, you know, I know he might have to play in the beginning
for Kansas City, but get a year under that coach learning at that quarterback's feet and then see if you can recharge your career. Can I, I don't know how much time we have. Can I ask you a favor? Yeah. Because you are, you know, I am friendly with Charles Barkley. At least I was the last time I saw him. Maybe he's maybe not anymore. I would hope I am still. No reason not to be you are legitimate friends with him. The next time you see him, can you, can you ask him, does he still like the NBA?
Like, listen, I think it's a fair question. I just have a fair question. And I want to be clear. I think Charles is the the greatest in the history of the world at what he does. And I think a lot of people have failed trying to be Charles Barkley when you, there's only one Charles Barkley. The, and I'm not acting like we get this compliment a lot,
but the greatest compliment that I ever receive about the TV show first things first is when
people say it reminds me of inside the NBA, which again, I'm not saying we either compliment a lot,
Whenever we get it, it means a lot to me.
But man, oh man, I wish they liked basketball still.
That's just, I think. Well, the difference is you guys do research on first things first.
Like you guys are still studying it. I think Charles and Chuck, I don't, I don't know if they really care. I think, you know, they're jaded with this. And now that we've allowed them to do it, you know, it's not like Charles is all like, like, with Charles with March Madness. I'm like,
“don't put him on March Madness. But so here's the thing though, at least with March Madness,”
he's excited and intro. Like what he's not going to do with March Madness is be like, why are we talking St. John's? They're not winning the championship. Like Chuck's almost vendetta against the lakers, which actually seems like his media criticism of how the media
talks about the lakers is to mean misplaced because if we want to say listen, Celtics Thunder spurs,
everyone else can't win the championship, that's probably correct. Like that's, I think the vast majority of times, one of those three teams wins the title. But after those three, the lakers are looking at eye or looking down on every other team in the league. And so to then dismiss them, it's like, well, then we're dismissing Denver, we're dismissing the next, we're dismissing the pistons. And that to me is misplaced, given what they've done over the course of the year. In my
humble opinion, and again, I say it on the front end, really, I'm not really afraid of any enemies, but I do want to be friends with Charles Barkley one day. And so I just want to talk about how much I love and respect him, but I just don't like that. I'll see if I can broker a deal there. That would be great. You think you mean Chuck one day could gamble together? I don't gamble. What if I, what if, what if I buy you in? No. It's, it's, no, it's a gateway drug. And I,
I don't, I don't, I don't, I used to be it, but it, but it, your age, what are your words? Like that. But I don't need the money. Yes, it's, you know what? Oddly, and I think Chuck would back me up on this. Sometimes, it's not even, not only is it not about needing the money, sometimes it's not even about winning,
“sometimes it's you need the loss. You need to feel a lot. No, no, no, no. You need to walk out of there and”
be like, you know what, that's gonna hurt. I'm gonna trust your opinion. Hi, I don't need to find, I don't need to feel it myself. What's the biggest loss you ever suffered? Like where you go, that, well, I can bring me to tears. Oh, this is a great March madness story. This is great, because this is not, you know, as you get older and make more money, the dollar amounts, you know, shift, but the biggest loss as a percentage of my net worth was the 2008 NCAA tournament final,
Kansas Memphis, right? Memphis is a three and a half point favorite. I am fresh off being on who wants to be a millionaire and winning 50 grand and gambling all the time and, like, making $8 an hour doing radio. And I have a bookie in Kansas City that I gamble with, that I convince him, I was like, listen, I hit this true story. I was like, I had a dream that Memphis won by three. And I don't want to bet Kansas plus three and a half. I want to bet
Memphis minus two and a half, because I want to root for Memphis, but they're gonna win by three. And I was like, so set me a price. So I had to lay 1, 4, I had to lay minus 1, 40. So I laid, I bet literally net worth, which, you know, I think 14 grand is what I had left of the 50.
To win 10 biggest bet in my life by a mile and Memphis is up three with a second left and
Chomers hits the shot and then they admit that was the Derek Rose misfree throws. Chomers hits the shot, Kansas wins it over time. And I went from being the only person in the world who is gonna bet Memphis in one time back in zero. That's what that's what it was. But I felt alive, Dan.
“I remember that story 18 years later. That's a little tear comes to mind. I think about it.”

soccer, football, is a story we've shared for over 30 years, since Daniel was the star player on our high school soccer team very debatable, and I was their most loyal, and sometimes, phone-weight fan, I love this game. I love its history, its hope, its heartbreak, and above all, its beauty. Together, we'll find out why of all the unimportant things, football, soccer,
is the most important. Listen to the Away End with Daniel Alargon and John Green, on the iHeart

“into power. I think coming out of where I came from, from the Bronx, I think I grew up really poor.”
I didn't know that then, because I very much used my creativity to romanticize life, and I'm like, my mom did a really good job of like, you step back and you're like, whoa, we, I don't know how we made it. So, a lot of my life was like, bill out of like, survival to get to the next place. JC and Detroit. Hey, JC. What's on your mind?
Dan, I really enjoyed your conversation with Nick. Which led me to a bigger question and I have a smaller question also. When you're considering your all-time greatest teams, are you more in the camp of old, the entirety of their career in their accomplishments, or their peak extended period of
“time? Or is that I'd call it kind of a little brown corollary as far as the greatest of all time?”
Well, I tend to look at the totality of your career because you can have a couple of years where somebody is sensational, but we were talking about Bryce Harper. He's had two MVP seasons, but then he's had some seasons that were not great numbers. You know, maybe B level, C plus level, B minus level, something like that. But yeah, I'm looking at the totality of somebody's career. Carry in Minnesota. Hi, carry. Hey, good morning, Dan. It's one time, first time, six feet,
and a firm 200. I really just wanted to say, I really enjoyed your interview with John
Schmoltz yesterday. You know, I thought when he was playing, he was always a class guy.
And yesterday, he had some interesting ideas on the all-star games last week. And you know, what I want to see him on the Lifelong Twins fan, and it always takes me back to the 91 World Series. You know, he pitched a great game into the bottom of the eighth, and unfortunately for him, Jack Morris picked a greater game. And, you know, the Twins winning and X-Rennings, and, you know, I don't know what you but I don't think we'll ever see a game like that again with, you know,
what the picture is going that deep. No, no. I mean, if you go five, it feels like, boy, Captain, in there a long time. Yeah. Those days are gone. And you can't fight it. I mean, you can try. It doesn't matter. It's a workhorse is maybe going six settings. It's just, you know, that's that's baseball. That's analytics. Back to the Matt Liner story that he doesn't want USC to unretire his jersey. And I get some point, I don't have, you know, like,
“what constitutes retiring a jersey? Like, what do you have to accomplish? Where you go? Yep,”
we're going to retire that jersey. Like the New York Giants, Eli Manning, you're going to retire as jersey? Maybe retired as jersey? Okay. I get it. Lawrence Taylor. But, all right. So, do you retire Phil Sims jersey? Maybe retired as jersey, right? The Yankees have retired 22 numbers. Every single number from 1 through 10. I understand what Liner is saying. Wait, you're retiring my jersey. Now you want to unretire because some, you know, high school
seniors coming in and once number 11 because he wore 11 in college. No. Now, and less they say, hey, you know, we're going to miss out on this five star recruit if he wants to wear number 11. And I'm, I'm going to guess their recruiting coordinator is probably saying that, but to ask him according to Matt numerous times. Like, why numerous times? Why not just once? Yes, time. And you're not all in on playing for that school. If it's so much about the number,
where is the passion of desire? I want to be USC Trojan. If I can wear your number, yeah, I understand why Matt would be like, no. I mean, don't keep asking me. Yeah, I, I didn't agree with what Nick was saying. Yes, you know what we'll talk about it when we come back. Find a lower on this Wednesday, Dan and the Danets, Dan Patrick Schill.
