Segregation in the day, integration at night. It was like Cephanon, another world. Was he a businessman, a criminal, a hero? Charlie wasn't an example, a power. They had the crush him.

Charlie's place. From Atlas substura and visit Murdoch Beach. Listen to Charlie's place on the iHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This woman's history month, the podcast,

Keebiposit Sweetie, celebrates the power of women choosing healing, purpose, and faith, even when life gets messy.

Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio. Final hour in this Monday, Reggie Miller will join us coming up a little bit. And F.L. News this morning, you know, of course, had the big trade, Max Crosby, go back to last week with the Rams and the Chiefs with that deal.

Rishon Gary, defensive lineman for the Packers, going to the Cowboys tour, as officially been released. The DJ Moore trade to the Buffalo Bills. I still wait for AJ Brown to be traded to the New England Patriots. And then you're probably going to have one of these quarterbacks land,

one place, and then that'll probably lead to the domino effect of Who Well Skows, where does two ago, where does Gino Smith go, and where does Kyla Murray go? You all said, Malik Willis, he is the prized free agent quarterback there,

and the question is, how much is he going to cost you?

8773DP Show, email address [email protected], Twitter handle at dpshow, watching Jason Tatum with the Celtics, and it's not easing him back into the lineup. He's back in the lineup, and Boston is closing in on Detroit.

Pistons have dropped for in a row. The chiefs and the, let's see, the chiefs, the raiders, the jets, the Cowboys.

They have Browns have two first round draft picks here,

and you start to look at what you're going to do with those draft picks. Plus the raiders have the most money in free agency. And if I go back to last year, the team that had the most money in free agency went to the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots.

And they certainly felt like they were a couple of years. I had a schedule, but spending money, and what were they coming off a four-wind season, so it can be done. And you had a second-year quarterback in Drake May.

Seahawks spent the fourth most in free agency last year, and they won the Super Bowl. All right. Let's see, poll question.

What are you going to have for us seeking for the final hour of the program?

Yeah, we got two up there right now. From Paul, a dude, more questionable signing, Cardinals and Kyler, Dolphins and Tua, right now, 72% say the Dolphins and Tua, how well do you understand the intricacies of NFL contracts?

A lot kinder or very little. Very little right now is at 57% of the vote. Yeah. It is confusing as hell. Where are you like, well, why don't they just cut them right now?

Well, it's actually better if you wait till March 15th. Why? Well, because then you got a reason why. Ah, what? It's crazy.

I'm still trying to figure out that second apron.

You know, it's like, um, all right. I'm just the first apron, now it's the second. Does football have aprons or is it an NBA? Is it just that? Just has a hard salary cap and who has more of us.

It's more of a soft, who doesn't have one at all.

My favorite is legal tampering.

Why call it tampering?

If you're allowed to do it, but I don't know.

This kind of an oxy moron. What did I call you, Todd? That's not very nice. No, it's not.

I think voters are giving themselves a little too much credit.

That should be like 73% know very little about how this all works. Uh, by the way, I did hear from somebody you used to be on the selection committee for March Madness. They said you're giving us way too much credit. If you think we manipulated matchups in the NCAA tournament. And I didn't respond to it, and I'm responding to him now.

But I have to believe that those some of those matchups made for TV matchups didn't just happen accidentally. I refused to believe that. And I'm talking to you, my source who used to be on the committee. Yes, Bowie. It's almost like a two-part process.

The NCAA tournament committee, they decide the seeding of a team and the next step is to place the team in a region and against possible opponents. So when you get a Texas tech in Indiana, they've decided their seeds and said, oh, we can make it. So they play each other. Of course they do that. It's a TV show.

Yeah, my source said, the matchups aren't manipulated. You're giving far too much credit to the committee. I love being accused of it, though. Okay. I still believe that they do that. I would do that.

You know, if you're in March Madness, you know, you've got to keep winning. So why not make it entertaining matchups that you have a former coach with his team. Maybe a player who transferred. Those are fun things.

Zach and Knoxville. Hey, Zach. What's on your mind today? Thanks for taking my call. Best in work for the weekend. Best was to see in all of those mid-Maker conference championships.

It's just always good to see people playing hard defense with something on the line.

And working the weekend was Yukon, losing the market.

And I just wanted to ask you, do you think JJ McCarthy deserves a second chance?

I know he only had ten starts, but you look at a sand Arnold or Genosmith ended up with the jets and Baker Mayfield with the Browns. He went to a very good spot with a very good coach. Do you think that he's a Reclamation Project or would you move on? No, well, I'd like to know how they feel because maybe they see something.

Well, I'm sure they see things that, you know, we don't see. I only see the games, but I was never a big JJ McCarthy fan. That was one of those, hey, he proves me wrong, I'll admit it. But I just, I didn't see it in college. I thought like he had a fastball, but he didn't have off speed.

And they didn't really rely on him to win games very often, which kind of struck me. But I would give him another year at his age with that contract. Still under contract, but I wouldn't give him another year after this one. If I don't see, you know, remarkably higher numbers consistency, it's going to stay healthy as well.

But that coach and that wide receiver feels like you could accidentally throw 25 touchdowns.

Matt in Nashville, I'm Matt, what's on your mind today?

>> Good morning. Good morning. How are you? >> Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good good. Hey, quick. Best and worst of the weekend. Best is resident Virginia Cavalier fans here. sneak really sneakily finishing the season 27 and 4 and 15 and 3 in the ACC. First year coach Ryan Odom did a phenomenal job this year building a team with only one returning

scholarship player. I got never even played much, so Kudos to the Cavaliers. Hope to see

you make a good run on the ACC and NCW tournament, but the worst of the weekend. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the resume of one Jeremy Spears with Michigan State. Over the weekend against Michigan, that is, I believe third or fourth rowing kick of the year. I don't know how the Big Ten doesn't suspend it for at least a game, maybe even the entire tournament. Like I've got about 7 dirty play, 7 technical this year and even worse, Matt. Tom is a continuing

to defend this tag. I'm just discussing as no place is eligible. >> Well, he did coach Dramon Green at Michigan State. I haven't seen some of the highlights. You know, their suspect as far as, like, okay. It's not grace and Allen, but it's close. >> It's really easy to not kick someone in the grind. So when it happens in a game, it's

Probably on purpose.

the guy's grind. >> Yeah. What's like grace and Allen, it takes a little effort to try to trip somebody. It doesn't happen. Like after the third or fourth time, you know, then we

realize it's not a coincidence. Eric and Oregon. Hi, Eric, what's on your mind?

>> Good morning, Dan. Thanks for the call. 6-1-175. I just have one best, no worse to the weekend. I got to take my son up to Portland yesterday for his first NBA game. I got to see the

trailblazers win, 131-1-11. So he was shooting in Holland. I have never seen before. I think

they made a fan for life. >> No, good. >> Well, thank you for the phone call. Dylan and Wisconsin. Hi, Dylan. >> Hey, Dan. First of all, Minnesota, high school hockey tournament. People should watch it. It is magic. Oh, just to see the hair, the player introductions, the hair. Awesome. And it was all the peers and it's good for those kids. Anyways, how about the badges

beating Purdue on senior day? One day. And I don't really have a worse, but Rashad and Gary, it was time. Good luck, Dallas. >> Yeah, what happened to Purdue in the second half of the season? Because they were number one there for a little while. That's a veteran team I believe,

but it feels like they kind of fell off in the second half of the season.

We had a listener bring up the LA Marathon and it was a photo finish in the LA Marathon. But then we find out, if you did 18 or the 26 miles, you got a medal. Now, Seaton has completed the New York City Marathon. How would you feel Seaton if people who were running in the Marathon after 18 miles got a medal that is like what you got, but you finished it. >> I'd be pissed. I'd be super pissed.

The 18 between 18 and 26 miles is an massive world of pain that you have to power through to

cross the line to get that stupid medal that you're like hell, yeah, I did it, I got the medal.

>> Yes, Paul. >> So the backstory is the day or two before the race, the Ordinance body

said that the runners will have an additional choice on race day due to the heat. It's going to be a little hotter than normal as high in the low 80s. So if you get to mile 18, you could stop and still get credit for finishing the race and your medal will look exactly the same as the 26.2 medal. For this one race only, not necessarily going forward. >> I can't do a participation medal. Once you get, like the race really starts at 18 miles,

everybody talks about, you hit the wall. It's brutal. It's brutal. Between 18 and 26 miles for some people, it's probably really easy, but for me, it felt like every single muscle on my body

was being pulled off one by one. It was horrible. It was like the worst thing, but you're like,

damn it, I made it this far. You have to keep going. You have to finish. Just get the damn finishes medal, you know? >> Yeah, Paul. >> And the other thing, 10 years from now, when you hold up your medal or attack your house, you ran the LA Marathon. If you have the medal, people assumed whatever marathon you finish. Is that right, Satan? >> Yeah, of course. >> Yeah, they're not going to follow up and say, did you run old 26 miles?

>> Yes, Todd. >> That's why if anything, you just get a sticker that says, like I voted today, you're going to like, I'm part of the marathon. If you feel like you have to give people something at the 18 moment. >> Yeah, just like a bumper sticker. >> Yeah, like you still, you get your bib or whatever that little number that you have. Like, there you go. That's your, all right, you were in it. That's your, you were in it medal. You know, look, I had a number. See, I did it. Oh, where's your

medal? Oh, I didn't finish. That's the way it's supposed to go. If you finish, then you get one of those medals. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> And then wrap me in aluminum foil or whatever happens when you get to the finish line. >> Did you get wrapped in that, whatever. >> Yeah, I did. As soon as you cross the finishing, the finishing line, they'd like sort of put you right. They give you that wrap and then somebody hands you a medal and then they go right there. It's stand right here. They take

a quick picture of you. You're like, oh, my God, and then they just move you right along. >> Yeah, and it's not pretty at the finish line because my, my wife ran the New York City marathon twice. And I just remember, she was running with somebody that I knew and that somebody that I knew got to the finish line and threw up right in front of us. And then proceeded to get on a plane and fly, didn't you? Didn't shower. Went to the airport, got on a plane and had to

Fly a couple hours to get back home.

let me see. I'm in 14C. Ooh. Wow. That person doesn't look like they've shoured it. In fact,

they're wrapped in some kind of aluminum foil, yes, Martin. Watching the sense of accomplishment that people feel when they finish because I've worked a couple of New York City marathons and it's like, I don't want to drive 26 miles. You ran 26 miles. It's so impressive. Just watching every day, people run four or five hours to make it to the finish line. >> Well, we went to the 18 mile mark one year when my wife ran it and we read a bar and we came out and cheater on for nine seconds and

then went back in and had a couple more beers and met her to finish line. >> Yeah, Paul.

>> Wait, Dan, you said you watched from a bar at the 18 mile mark. You should get credit for

watching an entire race because you made it to the 18 mile mark. >> Todd and Indiana,

Hi, Todd. What's on your mind? >> Hey, thanks, guys. Thanks for bringing up this subject. I put on a lot of races, which I'm a lot of races. You'd be shocked at the people that email us the day after saying, I couldn't make it, but could you please send me my center for metal because I paid for it. >> So, you are 100% right, running 18 miles is not running 26 and just a little off topic but what you were just saying. One of my jobs from my kids when we started this was to get people's timing ships off their ankles when they finished.

I got a call from my daughter from college with your excuse me and she said, "Thank you for making me do that." >> You know, you said, "Like, why? I can see the look in someone's eye when they're going to throw up the bail away."

And apparently she was at a bar and one of her friends was the look of recipient of some nest in a split.

Anyway, thanks, guys. We're bringing up that subject. >> All right, thank you, Todd. Take a break. >> Reggie Miller next. >> Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick Show. Bad ass convict. >> Right. >> Just finish five years. I'm going to have cooked these in real at mom. >> Yeah. >> On the senior show podcast, each episode invites you into a raw unfiltered conversations about recovery, resilience and redemption.

>> I'm an alcoholic. And without this group, I'm a guy. >> Open your free I-Hart Radio app, search the pseudo show. And listen now. >> segregation was the law. One mysterious black club owner had his own rules.

>> We didn't worry about what went on outside.

>> Inside Charlie's place black and white people danced together, but not everyone was happy about it.

>> You saw the cake. >> Yeah, it was just up in that uniform. The cake in case set out to Ray Charlie taken away from here. >> Charlie was an example of power. They had the crush it. >> From Atlas Obscura, Rococo Punch and visit Murdoch Beach, comes Charlie's place. A story that was nearly lost to time. Until now, listen to Charlie's place on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

>> Hey, ambitious, well-intentioned, vorotious, and wealthy mother looks like in the black community.

>> This woman's history month, the podcast, Kirit Puzzle Sweety,

celebrates the power of women choosing healing, purpose, and faith, even when life gets messy.

>> Love is not a destination. You have to work on it every day.

>> Kirit Puzzle Sweety creates space for honest conversations on self-worth, love, growth, and navigating life with grace ingrained, led by women who have lived inspire, and tell the truth that allowed. >> I have several conversations with God, and I know why it's a 20 years. >> To hear this in more, listen to Kirit Puzzle Sweety on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. >> Kirit is on the call for the rockets in the spurs last night

on NBC in peacock, Reggie Miller back with us, also coast to coast on Tuesday, stays in San Antonio, the Celtics, and the spurs, 80s turn, also on NBC, and peacock. >> Wemby, Wemby again, Wemby both ends of the floor inside and out. He shoots over 80% from the free throw line. I'm trying to figure out what he doesn't do at the

ripe old age of 22. >> I think he's starting to figure it out. I think what I've been most impressed

with, especially this year, he is embracing how teams are playing him, because the knock, especially

the first year, be physical with him, get up under him, move him around, and I think because of

last year his season was short, because of the blood clots. We didn't get a huge sample size of games, but I think he went back to the lab this offseason. We saw all his travels with the monks and different places trying to figure out the meaning of life and the game of basketball to him, and he's come back with a sense of purpose of matching other teams' physicality again. He's still not the biggest guys, but he's embracing how these teams are playing him, and if you

just case and point the last three games, he would against the Detroit Pistons a very physical team,

the LA Clippers who have a number of players who like to play physical, and even last night

with the Houston Rockets, they have a starting lineup of 6, 6, 7, 6, 9, and 7 feet with Kevin Doran, and they try to get up under him, they try to be physical with him, he embraces that now, and almost using it against him, and you're right, and I was trying to think, and I was trying to put myself in the shoes of fans, of players that it is a experience when you watch and play Dan, and I'm thinking like MJ was like that, because you didn't know what you were going to

see with MJ on the court, I put Stephen Curry in that, because of his ability to shoot the basketball, to me, when me is a must-see experience, because you truly do not know what you are going to see, and what you do see in witness, it's like, I don't think I've seen a human being do that. But what I'm also seeing is somebody who cares, if you saw him in the all-star game, you saw him in the Olympics, even to come back game against the clippers where he got emotional.

He truly cares about the outcome of the game, and I find that really rare, then certainly at the age of, you know, I brought up 22. - Isn't it refreshing? - Yeah, all right, I mean, we get so jaded nowadays, because of some of these big contracts and load management, guys not wanting to play. Here's a guy who, again, he'll listen to the trainers and the doctors for the swears, but he wants to be out there every minute, and he wants to be out there competing, and I just wonder if

I were American born players, and some of the elite players, are getting tired of the talk that

Victor Wimbin-Yama saved the all-star game, which he did.

how hard he came out and played, and I wonder if our American born players were looking at this

saying, you know what, that should be us, that's how we should be playing, and you have this

freshman setting the tone, and I'm not the only one saying that he saved the all-star game, but a lot of people are saying that, because of how he approached it, and it's just refreshing to

see that he competes so hard in just his third season, and he sets, he's just set the precedents.

I'll give you anybody in the league for the next five years. Who you take it? Oh, I would take him, because of what he does at both ends of the floor. Anybody close? Kate County Ham would be in there. I think Cooper Flag will have his moments, again, he Cooper's only went 1920, but for the next five years, right now he's the face, and

he's a very humble kid, but yet how he approaches the game is very thoughtful, he's very

methodical, in terms of prep for a game, prep for his body. The only thing that will be a not going

forward will be the injury part, and right now he's with the perfect organization, because they

basically envidded load marriage rate. Back to the great pop of this, and Tim Duncan,

Monud, you know, be 20 Parker days, so he's with the perfect organization in terms of saving his body going forward, and you know what, protecting him for himself, because he, again, he wants to be out there every minute competing at a high level. Speaking of being out there, Jason Tatum comes back, it's not like they used him into the lineup, and he was in the lineup, and I love watching this team, and now Tatum back, I think they're the team to beat in the

East. I agree with him. Especially with the recent slide of the Detroit Pistons, I think they've lost their last three. I still think Detroit will win the East, but I think Boston is in the perfect situation, because now you have a long runway for Jason Tatum to get into basketball shape, almost a month until the season is over, and then the first, first and second rounds, that's another two to three weeks, so it almost has two full months to get in basketball shape.

This past game, on Saturday, in Cleveland, he played 27 minutes. This is a guy that's been off for 10 months within a Kaley's injury, a Kaley's tear, and he comes back and he played 27 minutes on the road. I thought they were going to play him in even smaller increments, but it just lets me know that he's been back for a while, because for him to come back and play at this level and play those minutes, impactful minutes, it means he's been practicing, and lifting, and whatever else he's

been doing, it's been absolutely remarkable, and it's going to be a fun game tomorrow, because two great defensive teams, Boston, the spurs, and it'll be interesting, because he will be tested, him, Brown, Richard, they will all be tested on the wings, because the spurs play a very physical style as well, defensively, this should be a very fun and entertaining game. Michael Jordan says he doesn't get involved in the debate, the latest interview that Mike

Trico did with him, you talked about it on the broadcast, why would Mike get involved in the

gok debate? Because where his minions, that's our jobs, to serve the key, right?

Yeah, but he doesn't have to say anything. He doesn't have to say a word, right? He just goes scoreboard, right? Yeah, that's our job, our job looking at the scoreboard, and going like this, all you need to do is hold us this, and that's it, this six finals in the

teams, look, I didn't play against everyone, that's ever played, I never played like he said

against Oscar, Jerry Weston, all that, but I do know what it does feel like to go against him, Kobe, LeBronon for one season, and I love all those guys, it's hard to, he will never win if he interjects himself, put himself in that place, again, that's our place, that's our job, yours and eyes, because from you, you're eye test, you've been around a long time, you've seen a lot of basketball, I've played against a lot of great players, the magic, the larys, the Michaels,

I've played against them all, so I, I kind of get it, but again, that's not our job to do that, it's, and that's not his job to do that. Yeah, you know, it's weird when I get asked this question,

Because, look, you can build up a resume for LeBron and you go, what he did t...

years and, you know, consistency, but you see Kobe, and it's weird how I think Kobe got kind of,

I think we lost you, Reg. Yeah, start bringing up Jordan, here we go, yeah,

total, see if he can get Reg back on there. I've just glad that Mike Toreco, you know, Mike hadn't been that busy the last, you know, six weeks, I'm glad that he got to do something, where I'll Reg is back. Where's that guy? Yeah, got to sit down with Jordan again for another interview, but, you know, Kobe's the one that, like if I'm you and you say, okay, you got to face LeBron, Mike Kobe, like Kobe is Mike, I mean, it's LeBron's a different, different animal out there,

but like style wise, Kobe is, is Mike, because he, he patterned himself after. I think, I think we get

caught up when we talk about the goat situation and the goat debate. To me, the best player of the

three is MJ. Kobe is a clone and a better version, like he's Mike on steroids, better jump shooter.

To me, the fundamentals were better, because he perfected them to be like the master, MJ. If you're talking about careers, the best career out of all three of those, in my opinion, is LeBron, because of the longevity and what he has done, eight straight finals. But you put emphasis on career and rightfully so. Career versus as a player. Yeah. There's a difference. So, I mean, LeBron has had the best career out of anyone for him to continue to play like this at this level,

this late in his career. But if we're going stack for stack, player, to me, MJ, Kobe, and then LeBron. Oh, in that order. To me, in that order, just because. Look, I only had one year versus LeBron, my last year, his rookie year. I got tattooed by MJ. I got tattooed by Kobe at a high level. I, you know, facing Kobe in the finals. So, there's a body of work between Kobe and I that, I can, you know, I have a sample size against. It's, it's interesting when I watch defenders on

guys who are supposed to score and how you don't let it affect you. But I don't know how you don't. Like if you're guarding Kobe on the wing and everybody's watching and all of a sudden he blows

by you and, you know, dunks, like how do you not take that personally? Well, you never wanted to show

emotions when you were playing those two guys. And I tried as much as possible, not to, because I tried to put pressure on them at the other end as well, because I'm blowing by them as well. You know, I, I, I tried to put as much pressure and make them work as hard as they possibly were making me work to try to tire them out. Both of those players Kobe Mike, they were superior athletes in fantastic shape, which is very difficult to do. So, you know, you, I heard

you earlier talking about the LA marathon and, you know, right in the 26 miles all that, I tried to make it a marathon versus those guys and make it attract me and constantly keep them in motion to try to tire them down. Some games, it worked, other games that didn't, but that's what I tried to do versus those two players. Talking to Reggie Miller, he was on the call of a rocket spurs last night. He'll be staying in San Antonio, Celtic spurs. That's tomorrow night,

80's turned on MDC and Peacock. What do you make of this LA marathon? If you run 18 miles, you get the same metal as those who completed the New Yorker or the, what's the deal with the participation trophies? Come on now. Now they're talking about the rate. They talked about the

heat and, but I can't give you the same metal, the same exact metal. Is it the exact same metal?

Yes. Come on. They can't happen. They're really the marathon with 18 miles in that 26, right? They can't do that. Can't do that. Well, we're giving out participation metals for just going 18 miles. No. Yeah, but you got, you got kids. They probably get participation trophies. And it dried. Indeed. Absolutely mad, you know. It does because what

Will we teach you in these kids?

it just don't worry. You do not get a participation trophy for coming in second or third. Work hard. Go back to the lab. Get in the gym. Go outside and start shooting. Hey, get on the field. It's not working on your fielding. Learn how to catch the football. Did you get anything for finishing runner-up in the NBA finals? Yeah, you know what I got? That's one of that. That's it. Yeah. That's all we got.

Like Kobe, Kobe gave you a pad on the back and said, yeah, I'm a champ. Why are you forcing me right now? I didn't, I didn't know who gave you the pad on the back. Did you have yourself a pad? Shut your mouth.

Getting a pad on the back. Yeah, you have to play hard. Right now. They couldn't need

the thing going to take diesel. That was a problem. I was like, okay, you're right, they fell out. You're right, they fell out. If you had to pick that you're going to get bounced in the

second round of the postseason, or you're going to lose in the NBA finals, I'll always take the

finals because anything can happen once you get there. But trust me, if you think much more, it stinks much more because you say to yourself, we're, can I win four games? When you get to the finals, that's what you say. I've got two win four games. And then when we went down to a going back home and we won game three, we're like, we are, you're saying three wins. You would do anything to win three games. And yes, that's how desperate you get. And that's the

thinking you have to have. And I know people ought to be politically correct. But you are counting

down to 16 wins once you get to the NBA playoffs. And once you get to the finals, you just say, how can I win four games before that other team? Would you give up part of your pinky finger on your left hand? For a show? Yeah. Do you understand, man, winning? Yes. Did I say, oh, my left hand? Yeah. Oh, I still

contributed. Yeah. I can hold the ball. Yeah, give me the ball. Give me the ball. Nine and a half fingers, Miller. Yeah, just give me the ball. People are, yes. Yes, I would. It wouldn't seem to me the reason why I feel this way, people. And I want to explain this to him. If I had never been so close for so many years, so many conference finals versus the mix, feel like when you're at that close, when it's eight down to four, and then losing to the

lakeers and the finals needing four wins, when you're that close, and you can taste it and see the finish line,

but you can't get to the finish line. That's why I feel this way. It's things. If I had been like

first second round, it always, you know, going out, I had, it was never close to the finish line.

So who cares? But when you're close, and you can see the finish, I felt like that can't be in runner. That was in first place. And the American runner was right. That's how you feel when you get to the, they may finals. Can't I get to that finish line first? Marvin last week said, if he was the Buffalo Bills, he'd rather not get to the Super Bowl and lose. He'd rather lose earlier in the playoffs. I want to be on the biggest stage. Marvin, because you want to,

you want the world scene. You want to compete at the highest level against the best players. And if that's the world series, the Super Bowl, the NBA finals, the Stanley Cup, the Olympics, or some of these runners and track athletes, you want to compete against the best. And that year we went to the finals with Larry Legend as our coach. We felt we were the best team in the East. We knew the Lakers were the best team in the West. We wanted that smoke. And we knew

that it was going to be uphill battle. But they hadn't won in a long time. So both of us were coming in. But we knew that category. They were the Lakers. But the Lakers hadn't won yet. That was their first

championship. And we had never won. So we felt we were on equal footing. So that's why we felt

we had, we had a shot. And I like that Kobe stole your move, your step back jump shot. We had filmed the real world episode. He and I, we took on the real war cast in the game of

Two on eight.

one on one. Kobe and I, and hey, show me this, show me this move. You know, he was like pickin my

brain. I love how you do the, you know, how you do this against MJ. And I was like, being a big brother.

Yeah, yeah, this is what I did. You do the step back. You should increase space. So when he

when he closes, one more dribble. And then you're like, it's like, okay, I got it. That fool was writing it down. And using those moves against me in the finals, I'm like, ain't this something. Ain't this something smart dude. What a Kobe. Rest God rest. I know you were looking down on this interview right now, smile. But yeah, I ran. I got you.

Thank you, Redge have fun. I don't know if you did or much love to my dad is Marvin. Next year,

him at the very end, I'm like, wow. No, thank you. That was a doozy. Yeah. No, thank you. All right. Last call for fun calls. What we learn? What's in store tomorrow, right after this. Segregation in the day. Integration at night. When segregation was the law, one mysterious black club owner had his own roles. We didn't worry about what went on outside. It was like seven or another world. Inside Charlie's place, black and white people danced together. But not everyone was happy

about it. You saw the KKK? Yeah. They were just up in that uniform. The KKK set out to Ray Charlie taken away from here. Charlie was an example, a poem. They had the crush him. podcasts. Dylan, just sent me this from the back room. If you're the current Buffalo bills,

you can go to four super bulls in a row and lose or miss making the playoffs for consecutive years. Marvin, I'm going to ask you, you go to four super bulls, or you miss the playoffs for years in a row. Oh, and this is the current team asked construct. Yes, yes, right now.

I'm going to guess everything I believe in, the forestry super bulls. Yes, yes. But DP, you said,

just get there. The chargers can just get there. The Patriots last year, you can just get there, and you'll be fine. The bills aren't in that position. The lions aren't in that position. It's not just to get there, and it's a, oh, you know, it's successful season. No, it's not.

If the lions get to the super bull, that's a successful season. For whole, for them,

for the Texans, you mean, I think you you missed pronounce Texas. I said that Detroit, our Detroit lions, even the Tigers. Yes, Paul. You're both right on this one, but if I'm a bills fan, I want progress. Now, it's going to be really painful losing, but man, you've been spinning the wheels for a while now. I got to make the playoffs progress. I got to make the post. I got to make the super bull. Yes, it's going to hurt, but not making the playoffs at all. Yeah, so it seems weird, though,

to be alike. We haven't made the playoffs for years exactly. It's going exactly how we want it to. By design. Exactly. Perfect. How many bids on the line? How many how many tickets can be punched tonight? Paul? I love that for the big dance, Dan. Yeah, the big dance. I got the fun belt, the Sunbelt final tonight. Georgia Southern versus Troy. Troy's given six and a half, as you know, and let's see the so-called championship firm in the Paladins. Let's go. Yeah, let's go

FU against East Tennessee State, ETSU favored by a point of half. Let's slap in the face to Furman. Was that Mr. Jennings? Yeah. East Tennessee State. That's right. Back in the day, Mr. Jennings. Yeah, it's still when I saw, so the drummer for hooting the blowfish, his wife, one of their children went to Furman and he showed up at a concert and he just had this purple sweatshirt on and it said FU. I'm like, I said to his mom, I said, you letting

walk around, she goes, it's Furman University, where he went and I go, oh, okay, there's like FU.

All right. Terry and Seattle. Hi, Terry. What's on your mind?

Hey, Dan. A long time listener. I've been watching you since you were swinging chairs for the mothership. Hey, I got a bet for the weekend, that playoff between Burger and Batia at the Arnold

Palmer International, where they're playing that last hole for 4 million bucks. That was, you know,

have it some good TV for anyone who's picked up the golf club. Yeah. Yeah, I love Batia. Left to ended swing and he's a talented player. Thank you for the phone call. This means more history, Paul. I just got one for you, Dan. I think you'll like this. The most blocks in the game can end be a history was this day in 1984. You're a super sonic at the sixers. The sixers had 20 blocks in the game. Some of the luminaries that block shots, Cleman Johnson

with five, Dan. Clim. Yeah. I don't remember him that well. Julia serving with five,

call me the doctor. Sam Williams with six and Bobby Jones with two blocks in the game. Okay. He was a defensive stopper, Marvin. Well, Samar. Yes, he is. Let's go around the room. See if we learned anything on this award nominated program, Todd Learn. I'll start with you. You think the Doppler shouldn't spend any big money on a quarterback with Queen yours. Maybe look for a good backup. See, what you learned today, Marvin's running a marathon with

Reggie Miller next year. Yeah. Marvin, what did you learn? See, his run suit, Marathons. Paul. Marathons are getting shorter. If he was part of the Doppler's front office, Mike Taniman would look for a bridge quarterback this season. Thanks for the phone calls emails, tweets, the all around support for Fritzie C. Martin Paul years truly talked to you tomorrow. Next Monday, our 2022 six-eye-hard podcast awards are happening live in South by Southwest.
