The United States and Saudi Arabia launched joint air strikes against Iran back militias in

Iraq following attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure marking regards first explicit operation of

participation in the war simultaneously Tehran escalated regional tensions by rejecting and no money for posing to share control of the straight-of-form moves and targeting both US military-based and Jordan and local commercial shipping. The sudden surge in combat and today short-lived pause driving at global oil prices up a significant way. Yeah, I mean look, you know, if the White House thinks this is a great strategy bringing other countries into this thing, think again.

If those countries think it's a great strategy, think again. This is exactly the way

small limited actions spin out of control into ongoing region-wide, never-ending wars.

And then the course of the past couple of weeks, what have we seen? We've seen several countries joined with the United States and attacking Iran most recently, the Saudis. We've also seen the hoodie, the hoodie's on behalf of Iran launched a series of attacks and actions around the end of the Saudi pipeline that leads into the Red Sea. That in fact could spread the war further to the Horn of Africa. And so it's not impossible to see how if there is no end to this war,

it actually heads in the other direction and expands and deepens and has bigger negative effects not just in the region, but on the global economy. A little later today, we will be doing a version of need to know with Yegana Torbadi, who is the New York Times Iran correspondent, who also has a new book out called "Stolen Revolution" about the evolution of politics with the Iran. And so if you're interested in this, I'd strongly encourage you to

The Senate confirmed former SEC chair, J. Clayton, as Director of National Intelligence, and a 51-47 party-line vote placing him atop an agency undergoing sweeping 30% staff cutbacks ordered by the administration, taking over after acting director build pulled these

controversial 10-year, Clayton faces critical challenges, including navigating rebuilding agency stability,

and working with Congress to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Despite his extensive legal background, Democrats expressed, excuse me, deep reservations over Clayton's lack of traditional intelligence experience, and questioned his willingness to maintain political independence under White House pressure. Well, I mean, he has no independence. He has already said he won't answer who he has won the 2020 election. He is clearly a

laptop. He was questioning the results of the election and the run-up to doing this. And in

“fact, I think that's one of the reasons he got this. But of course, the key is that he doesn't have”

traditional intelligence experiences. The job as described in its official mandate requires. I just want to hit the brakes here a second and say, "Look, there is this myth that exists that the Republican Party has some special expertise when it comes to national security."

virtually all of those wars, and not only are they the ones pushing incredible over spending

on defense budgets, not just now, but for decades, spending that has made it impossible for us to invest in people, invest in basic services, invest in the quality of life, all of which are hideous terrible decisions, and all of which are areas where the record of the Republican Party does not hold a candle to the record of the Democratic Party. But look at this administration,

“how do you say Republicans have some kind of mastery or even interest in national security?”

When the commander and chief is Donald Trump who doesn't take advice, when the head of the Department of Defense is Pete Eggset, who is, you know, not just a frat pro, but a racist misogynist, who's cutting out expertise at the top of the Department of Defense. We're running the intelligence community. We've had Tosi Gabbard who had no intelligence experience and was political hack. We've had Bill Pulti of Bedbath and Beyond Fame, and now we have this guy Clayton,

who although he's got a very nice white shoe background that makes some people from the Eastern Establishment Comfortable, has no experience in this area. Oh, yeah, they've also got to the

“NSC to the point that it's useless, but the guy is in charge of the State Department, also in charge”

of the NSC, an act which shows a complete lack of understanding of the NSC, put hacks into other

key posts in the intelligence community, and so on. So the reality is this, the Republican Party

is a threat to US national security. Donald Trump is the greatest threat to US national security, and I haven't even brought up the fact that he was put into this position with the assistance of our enemies, the Russians, who he does not ever go against, who's position in Ukraine. He has made stronger, whose position he has made stronger even in the course of this Iran war by granting them special exemptions. Now, there was a sanctions bill passed last night,

but trust me, the issue is whether the Trump administration will honor these things,

“and I think we have a lot of reason to believe that they won't. They've shut down”

departments and DOJ and in DHS that track Russian interference in US elections, track Russian corruption in the United States, track Russian, oligarchs, et cetera, et cetera. So everywhere you look, the record on national security is bad, and the record of this administration on national security is worse than the record of every other recent Republican administration, each of which has had a terrible record ahead of a Senate hearing today. Senator Rand Paul

released over 1,100 pages of Dr. Anthony Fauci's private diary entries accusing the former NIAID director of privately entertaining the COVID-19 lab leak theory while publicly dismissing it. Scientists and biosecurity experts defended Fauci explained that his notes simply reflect a standard of scientific inquiry as researchers evaluated emerging evidence regarding the virus's origin, the renewed controversy highlights ongoing political clashes over pandemic origins

and gain a function research, which experts warn it will ultimately hinder future outbreak preparedness

and erode a public trust in science. Well, yeah, and you know, the hearings began even as we are sitting here talking and immediately turned into the kind of political theater that Rand Paul wants them to be at one point. Fauci's lawyer said something and Paul had him thrown out of the hearing room. Fauci has decided to plead the fifth and not take the questions of the group and I am 100 percent certain that this is not because he thinks he did anything wrong, but because he thinks

Rand Paul was trying to get it into a trap around past comments that he's made in the hopes of finding some way of asserting that he perhaps misbo or committed perjury. I know Anthony Fauci, I know him to be an honorable man, I studied this, I wrote about this in recent books and I have to

the anti-Science Coalition, as scientists have demonstrated, took actions that led to the

unnecessary deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans during COVID outbreak and have subsequently taken actions, including the establishment of the RFK Junior regime at HHS, which have undermined Americans' access to medicine, have attacked the efficacy of vaccines, have led to a fall off in the use of vaccines, had led to the spread of many diseases, including stories this week about record levels of measles being spread across the United States, but there have been other diseases

including tuberculosis and other things that are preventable. And of course, this administration

has done nothing to prepare for another pandemic, because they don't believe in science,

they don't believe in the things that would help us prepare for another pandemic. And rest assured,

“there will be another pandemic. That's how the world works. They happen on a regular basis.”

We should have learned from the last experience. I would say that the Biden administration has not covered itself in glory in terms of putting in place the preparations for a pandemic, but certainly whatever they did is a thousand times better than what we've seen out of the Trump administration and out of Capitol Hill clowns like Rand Paul, who is literally crap, I mean,

he's just a belief conspiracy theories, and he has been on this anti-fouchy hobbyolors

for five years since the pandemic. And you know, go back and look at the record. It is not flattering for Rand Paul. I'm sorry to interrupt, but I really have to tell you about our Substack. Exactly. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced it will end a Medicare Part D premium stabilization subsidy after this year. Stating insurers are now equipped to price their plans without federal support. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Oz assured that most beneficiaries will see premium changes of less than $10 a month with annual rate hikes remaining cap at 6% under the inflation reduction act.

The move comes as part of a broader push by the Trump administration to overhaul federal health care spending with final 2027 plan premiums and detail set to be released in September. Well, that's very charitable for you to use the term "overhaul." They're not overhauling them.

“They're invisterating them. They are cutting them. They're making it harder for average Americans”

to get health care. We already live in the only country in the developed world that does not see health care coverage as a right that does not provide universal health care to everybody. And now on top of this, this administration is cutting back on vital health care services. They have, of course, as I've just noted, done this. After cutting back on the expertise at top of these agencies, so you've got people like Dr. Oz who have very, very limited public health

experience, making big decisions like this. But also note that Dr. Oz's comment did not say, "Oh, no, healthcare costs are not going to rise." He said they're going to rise a limited amount. And there are more increases waiting around the corner, even as tens of billions of Americans are losing their ability to pay for their health care because of the cuts to Obamacare

average Americans. average Americans will suffer. average Americans will die. It is appalling.

“And, you know, it is one of the things that leads people to say maybe I should live somewhere else.”

Because, you know, this hurts. By the way, does this hurt Donald Trump's friends or Dr. Oz's friends or RFG juniors friends? No, because if you're a millionaire, a billionaire, you can pay for whatever you want. And so they live in a bubble world. And they think they're making tough financial decisions. When they're not, they're making cruel, scientifically, medically irresponsible decisions. What are closing that? I wanted to follow up on a survey covered here and on that so a consciousness.

Open AI disclosed that a rogue AI agent went far beyond initial reports during an internal testing

benchmark, reaching hugging faces platform and compromising for a third-party account so to execute

its attack. The agent had gone off script in an attempt to cheat the test by infiltrating hugging

“faces servers to steal answer keys, ultimately securing root administrative access and penetrating”

internal corporate networks. Following an incident, Open AI deactivated the unreleased research prototype involved while security experts stressed the urgent need for strictored network isolation when evaluating autonomous AI models. Yeah, the, the hugging phase incident illustrates a number of things. One is that companies like Open AI are behaving irresponsibly, behaving irresponsibly in the development

of these products, behaving irresponsibly in the management of these products. And as we've seen

in the past couple of weeks, behaving irresponsibly when a problem occurs because they are not being transparent. And this is a perfect example of that. They didn't want to talk about this, then they acknowledged that this one incident occurred now, apparently it occurred multiple times. The Trump administration has been very loose to regulate big AI companies because who were the big Trump factors that we know about. Elon Musk, Mark and Dreson Peter, Tiel Mark,

Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. So big tech grows back Trump and they say give us some space on this, including Trump's on and off again, AI's our David Sachs who has helped guide this and put in place disciples of these big companies throughout the regulatory apparatus that exists. And let's be honest, J.D. Vance was picked to be Vice President with the support of who Peter Tiel will volunteer. It's a much bigger deal than anybody thought it was.

“I think the 2026 election will be the first elections in which AI is a big issue.”

And you can see that with debates about data centers, I mean, even sort of story yesterday that Willie Nelson at age 90, whatever he is is out there now campaigning against data centers, it is a big, nimbee issue across the country. But if you go to the New York Times on page today, what's the lead story? The impending inescapable deluge of AI, what else is a lead story? Mark Zuckerberg last the centralization of AI power. AI companies are recruiting electricians and

carpenters by the thousand. South Korea's memory chip giant defies AI market jitters. Those are the, there's a package at the top of the New York Times day about AI. This is not technology as you know it. This is something that will disrupt everybody's job, disrupt the way the country operates. Perhaps I personally think increase even further in equality in the United States have major security implications, have major implications on privacy,

have major implications on AI pay. And I would say by the way, not all of them are bad. There are good things that will come out of this, notably things like accelerated scientific research and so forth. But the ignorance about these issues from our policy makers is causing problems and those problems are worsening daily.
