What do you want to start?
βPresident Trump announced a five-day post-poment of plan strikes on Iranian at power plants,β
claiming the United States and Iran are negotiating a total resolution to their month-long conflict. Despite this, Iranian officials have publicly denied that any progress has been made, suggesting the announcement is a tactic to temporarily lower global oil prices and by time for further military operations. The war, which began on February 28, has already resulted in over 2,000 deaths,
and a global energy crisis that has seen a fuel prices surge by more than 50%. Yeah, you know, I've got to tell you something, the Iranian government is despicable. They lie all the time, and so it really says something, that when you hear the US government says one thing and the Iranian government says the other, you're kind of inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to the Iranians, because whereas they lie nearly all the time, Trump lies all the time.
And the lie that, you know, these conversations are good and therefore they're postponing, coming at the beginning of the trading week of all the markets when prices are going up and oil markets and down and stock markets, sure does seem convenient, particularly given the speed with which the Iranians denied it. We'll see several countries have said that they're involved in, you know, being interlocutors between the US and the Iranians.
There is one other thing though that I think is kind of interesting, which is the president is relying heavily on Steve Whitka on all of this. And, you know, he's kind of the point man, you know,
βon all the key negotiations we do in the world. So I think we need to ask ourselves quite aβ
part from the fact that he never had an experience in this area before and doesn't understand the nuances
of literally any of the cases he's dealing with. And it's clearly goable and keeps repeating that he buys what Putin says as opposed to what the US intelligence community or others may say, or allies might say, for example, what's his track record? How's Steve Whitka doing? How's the Ukraine negotiation done, bad? Is there actually a peace settlement in Gaza? No, actually there's violence continuing in Gaza. It's spread to the West Bank. And, of course,
it's part of this war. These railways are conducting major operations, displacing a million people in Lebanon. Whitkaf's track record as a negotiator for this government is allows it. Does that mean that there won't be, you know, a some kind of a resolution here that allows Trump to, you know, pull out, stop. Well, clearly he can just declare victory and that's what he's trying to do. He keeps trying to do it every day. But, you know, there is a sticky spot which is
the Iranians don't want to go along with it because they know that they can apply great pressure to the United States and to our allies in markets. So they wage an economic war, which does not have the huge cost of wage and a traditional military war. Anyway, are we closer to a settlement
Today?
there's going to be one because frankly, you know, if the markets all of a sudden get why isn't
βand realize that this thing isn't that close to being resolved, then they'll all go to hell.β
So, I don't know, you know, I don't know that we're on that verge of a breakthrough, but we
may be on the verge of, you know, deal as caving on all of its ambitions in Iran. Now, does that mean Israel's going to cave on its ambitions? No. So, it's all complicated mess and we'll be on it each and every day. This week, and I'm afraid probably for many more weeks to come. Menop. Trump announced plans to send ICE agents to airports to assist TSA officers. I meant long security lines caused by a prolonged Department of Homeland Security shutdown.
Administration officials say staffing shortages driven by unpaid TSA workers have led to major delays.
While ICE agents may take on limited support roles, though their exact duties remain unclear.
βCritics, including labor leaders and lawmakers, argue ICE agents like proper trainingβ
for airport security and more in the move could create safety risks and further politicize an already strange situation. Yeah, yeah, it's a big giant mess and of course, you know, what's it all about, right? Is it about what it appears to be about? Of course not. The administration is trying to put pressure on Democrats to just grant the budget requests they have for DHS by thinking that if they make travel difficult as they have really, really difficult,
that it's going to put pressure on Democrats. But people realize that the Democrats aren't
responsible for this. In fact, there's a story in punchball news today that John Thune, the Senate majority leader, and Democrats reached the deal, which would fund all of DHS except ICE. And they went to Trump with it and Trump said, no, I want to get the save act through it. So they're going to have to give us everything we want and the save act. And he, you know, wrote some crazy tweets about that this weekend or truth social posts. And of course, why does
he want to save act? Why is he so desperate for the save act? Why does he think he can use this to get to that? Well, the last question is on answer ball. It's the way his mind works at the moment. But the reason he's desperate for the save act is that he knows if there is a free and fair election in the United States in November, Republicans are going to get slaughtered. They will lose the house. They will lose the Senate. Trump will be under investigation for the next two years
of his life. It will be living hell for him. And he is desperate. And you can see it in his is true social posts and his public performances and everything else. He's scared as hell. And, you know, there were more polling results over the weekend that show how opposed the American people are to this war 92% or 91% against this war to his handling of the economy, where he's underwater 60% in terms of handling the economy with his handling of everything. He's in freefall.
βAnd that's why he's doing crazy, spasmatic irrational loops. One last point, there was in socialβ
media, some indication that this whole idea of putting ice into airports came at a Fox News call and show. And some women suggested it and they said, hey, that's a great idea and somehow it made its way to Trump. And Trump announced it without talking to the people within the agency. Isn't now the people in the agency spent the weekend going, well, what are these people going to do? They're not trained to scan people. They don't know how to use the equipment. They don't know what
the rules are. You know, these are these are just people who are trained to track down immigrants. And so it's sort of slowly morphed over the past couple days that they will be there to ensure that illegal immigrants don't make it through our airports at this time of chaos. But they're already pictures of them tackling people in airports. And, you know, combine that with two, three, four hour lines at the airport. And it is a mondo mess that is going to get worse. And it is going to put
a huge amount of pressure on Trump. And he can solve the Iran War tomorrow. And still, the American
People are going to be flipping out about his mismanagement of everything else.
Is your garden start, of course, for the morning? With action in quality and the
βsmallest price in the hand. For example, Greenboots, DΓΌnger Granulat, only 1,2 and 20.β
Or the Blooming Top of the Hegelton Kunststoff, 07 and 70 cents. And there are now all garden products in our imperial and in the Action App. Action, small prices, great people. An air Canada regional jet collided with a fire truck on a runway at La Guardia Airport late Sunday night, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot and injuring it dozens of others. The fire truck was reportedly crossing the tarmac to respond to a separate emergency
when the impact occurred, leading to the total closure of the airport and a federal investigation. Radio logs indicate an air traffic controller gave the vehicle clearance to cross before
βfrantically attempting to stop it as the aircraft approached for landing. This fatal incidentβ
has triggered a widespread travel chaos during a busy spring break season already strained by a partial government shut down and separate disruptions at nearby Newark Airport.
An incredible amount of disarray with the end of the Department of Transportation
doesn't have enough air traffic controllers. Hasn't made a push to get enough air traffic controllers. They're overstressed. They are clearly beyond their capabilities. We've had more air fatalities in the second term of the Trump administration than we had for many, many years before. And you combine the air fatalities with the chaos in the front end of the airport square. People are trying to go into security plus throw their ice into the mix and so forth.
And it is a complete clusterfuck. You saw the Secretary of Transportation on TV and also a senator saying, hey, don't apply all this on Trump. No, blame it on Trump. Blame it on Trump. He's the one that put in the government cuts that cut millions of people out of, you know,
βkey jobs and our thousands of people out of key jobs that have rendered agencies likeβ
that a Department of Transportation much less capable of doing the job that they're supposed to be doing, which is maintaining safe transportation options for the people of the United States. Everywhere you look up and down in competence. If you're interested, go to the need to know substat, which I write. If you're not subscribed, please subscribe. And be about what I wrote yesterday,
because I focus on incompetence, which is not super sexy. But we have never seen incompetence
like in this government. The one thing they value the least is people actually know what they're doing. And you, you know, wherever you look at health and environment and energy and transportation and education and foreign policy and national security policy in managing the Treasury Department and managing the IRS and managing social services. Every single place you look, you have incompetent people making bad choices, producing bad outcomes. And it is really just a level of chaos and
blundering that we've never seen in a U.S. government that has had plenty of chaos and blundering in the past to be the worst in this particular category really means something. We're going to zoom in on something you mentioned a little bit earlier. Talk about it some more detail. Zoom. Donald Trump said he would refuse to negotiate a funding deal for the Department of Homeland Security unless Democrats pass the Save America Act, a bill requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote. He was
quoted saying, "I don't think any deal should be made until they approve Save America," tying the ongoing shutdown directly to the legislation which lacks enough support in the Senate to pass. The proposal has intensified partisan tensions with Republicans arguing it would prevent voter fraud while critics warn it could disenfranchise eligible voters and further politicize both election rules and immigration enforcement. Well, that is something that we talked about before and
as I said, the issue here isn't voters suppression per se. It's that voter suppression is the
Only way the Republicans have a chance.
do. That's antithetical to the underlying idea of democracy which is the more people vote the more
βyour government reflects the will of the people. They don't like that. Remember former DHS Secretaryβ
Nome saying that what they want to achieve and DHS has some role to play here is getting not just all people to vote, but getting the right people to vote. Well, who do they mean by the right people? They mean the white people. They mean the mega people. They mean their supporters and anybody is not going to pull the lever for them. They want to make it hard for them. Are they going to be
able to do it? Every report out of people on the Hill suggests they are not going to be able to
get the Save Act through. Will they try other things? Yes, and some people think that deploying ice to airports is just a precursor to deploying ice in other ways later in the years. We get close to the elections. Certainly Mark Wayne Mullin will be confirmed this week as the new DHS Secretary is going to do exactly what Nome and Lewandowski and Holman and Bovino and all those guys were doing before. He seemed to suggest he was going to do it a little differently. He won't. Because he's not
βin charge. I think that's important to remember Steven Miller's in charge. Donald Trump's in charge.β
Everybody else is just a yes or a lackey. I think what you're going to see is increasing desperation and increasing sort of reaching for new ways to keep voters out of the boat. By the way, there's a Supreme Court as here in case I think today about mail-in-bality and whether or not mail-in ballots received after election day, but postmarked before election day should count. Republicans used to be in favor of mail-in-bality because again, they thought the more about
the better and there were a lot of mail-in ballots from the military, but Trump's against it, even though there's precious little evidence of any kind of fraud in mail-in-bality or any of the
βareas where they suggest that there's voter fraud. But this Supreme Court case did have an impact on thisβ
as well as well upcoming decisions on voting rights. So we are going to be in real turmoil for the next few months trying to figure out whether we still live in a democracy or we doubt. For example, if you're going to get a video on your social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media,
you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, you're going to get a video on social media, let's verse in on Amazon for packings data from the year 2005 and 20 in Rosbotanian and the EU. Following the death of an 18 year old settler, extremist Jewish settlers launched a series of coordinated revenge attacks on several Palestinian villages in the West Bank, targeting homes,
vehicles, and agricultural fields with arson. The violence left at least three Palestinians injured and prompted a sharp condemnation from the EU, the UK, and Israeli civil rights groups who describe the raids as pogroms. This escalation is part of a broader surge in settler violence since the start of the war with Iran, with the UN reporting that 15 Palestinians have been killed by settlers or security forces since March 1st alone. While Israeli police have made
some arrests, opposition leaders and activists have criticized the government for failing to prevent the raids or adequately address what they describe as a state of total anarchy. Total anarchy, but government's sponsored anarchy, as or government protected anarchy as
contradictory as that may sound. It was always the plan of the Netanyahu administration to make
New inroads into shutting down settlements, seizing land, adding to their con...
Bank, reducing the control of Palestinians in the West Bank. It is a critical part of their effort
βto defeat the idea of a two state solution, and the increasing radicalization of the Israeli positionβ
on this. There was a big op-ed in the Jerusalem Post over the weekend talking about how Americans need to get over the idea that a two-state solution is even viable. Of course, the two-state solution is the only fair and equitable solution to real states able to protect themselves, and there will never be peace in this part of the world until Palestinian people of their own country, their own ability to determine what their future will be, safety, security,
and they're not living under the thumb of an apartheid state. That's where we are, folks, and it's hard to hear, particularly for people who were supporters of an old idea of Israel. That old idea of Israel may remain in the heads of a lot of Israelis, but it's not the reality,
and you get to a certain point and the reality is what has to die to conversation. And right
down the reality is genocide and Gaza, war crimes in the West Bank, efforts, it seems to potentially annex or certainly disrupt and really substantiate ways a southern Lebanon. It's a really,
βreally bad situation, and I think it's going to reflect in American politics in ways that peopleβ
are just coming to realize that as we saw in recent elections, APAC supports the ways of the American Israel path is now considered toxic, taking the hard right view of Netanyahu is now considered toxic. That's a mainstream, that has been a mainstream view of both parties for a long time. So what does it mean for the future? It's really unclear. Interestingly, more stories over the weekend that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was hanging tough and doubling down on his
support of Israel at this moment. He's got national ambitions, so he will be one of the folks in their advocating the other side. That debate is going to be hugely consequential because
βthe reality is the United States and supported the United States for Israel is the reason Israelβ
still exists. And Israel without U.S. support or with a different kind of U.S. political support is a very different entity. Okay, it's a Monday. We're beginning our week. We've got to track a war. We've got to track what's going on in the airports. We've got to track what's going on with the save act. We've got to track what's going on in the Supreme Court. We've got to track track.
