Hello and welcome to the DSR Daily.
Minister Steinroll in a cloud of Hayes here in DC from Canadian wildfires, if Donald Trump
had taken over Canada as he and promised he was going to do. And then had swept the floors of the forest because he knows that's the way to avoid wildfires. We wouldn't be having this problem. Right, Riley? That's right. The liberals are making us have. The liberals are making us coffee. You won't be able to run today. You'll have to do it inside on the treadmill because of fucking liberals. And they
want us to mask up outside which is even worse. We're back in COVID times. It says that really is. And really is. Well, let's talk about the news because that's
“bound to be better than this, although I think one of our stories is about this.”
But go on. Well, my first story is not about this. It's about a thrilling prime time
address from our Commander-in-Chief. Okay, I'm just guaranteed he didn't even watch it. I sure didn't. I would rather do anything else. Yeah, and his brother. I'll tell us about it anyway. The China interfered in the 2020 election and a list of required millions of U.S. voter files citing newly declassified documents in order to push for stricter voting laws. But U.S. intelligence
assessments and official documents contradict these claims, finding no evidence of altered votes and noting that the voter data in question was non-confidential and could not be manipulated. The Chinese Foreign Ministry fiercely rejected the
“accusations as a malicious smear warning that the rhetoric risks damaging”
and bilateral relations ahead of a planned trade summit with President Xi Jinping. Yeah, look, I mean, the president is firing blanks these days. Now, you may call that ageist and you may say this is a reference to his sexual dysfunction. And it's not, I don't know anything about Donald Trump's sexual dysfunction. And I'm sure there is some, but I don't know anything about it. This is a reference to the fact
that everything he does these days fails. His war fails. His tax cuts and things to help, you know, the economy or failing, the economy's in bad shape. You know, all of the cuts that he's done at HHS on health. Now, everybody's got, like in explosive Trump diarrhea, that's failing. You know, this morning, by the way, you don't even have this story. I'm ahead of the curve. The, all the big shipmaking stocks are
down, like 2%, people are starting to worry about an AI bubble bursting. That'll
“really rain on his parade. By the way, if you want to hear about that, go back and”
listen to our soil consciousness from this week, best analysis of the warning signs of that I've heard anywhere. But anyway, the point is, whatever he does, he's failing it. And
this thing, as soon as it went up first of all, CBS didn't care, oh, CBS carried it,
because they're very, very nice. NBC didn't carry it. ABC didn't carry it. CNN didn't carry it. And almost immediately, it was fact checked by everybody. The New York Times said it was full eyes. Everybody else said it was full of lies. The Washington Post said, oh, he complained about election integrity. So they're, you know, a little soft on it, because they're a little soft in the head at the moment. But the point is, it was instantly
disproved. I'm worried anyway. And the reason I'm worried anyway is this, he doesn't think he needs the fact. He doesn't mind the fact that when he released these documents, they reinforced the message that Russia interfered to help him, by the way. All he needs is a pretext to say there is a national security reason for him and his intelligence people to intervene in this election. And he'll do it, whether he thinks you agree with him or not.
And that's kind of the big punchline of this thing, even though the speech was full of even though the lies were completely discredited, even though nobody watched, even though it was mocked and ridiculed, he doesn't care. He doesn't care because he doesn't need your approval to interfere in the elections. All he needs is a national security pretext. And what he was doing was serving that up. And the six people he ever sees in his day say, good job, Mr. President,
We're right behind you in the bill, Pilates, and also this guy Clayton, if he...
in that job, in the Natalie Harps, the Susie Wiles, the Stephen Miller's, Marco Rubio's, JD van, the tiny little group of people he ever sees in a day. They're just going to say full speed ahead boss. And so don't get too much comfort from the fact that everything he said was a lie, demonstrated to be a lie, it was pathetic, it was repeating old claims. Focus instead on why he felt it was worth doing that anyway. And that's chilling.
Well, my story is a bit of Trump's response to your analysis. President Trump declared well, you know what, who's asked he can kiss? Oh, no, go ahead. See, it says, if he's coming at me directly, I'm from New Jersey. I'm from New Jersey. Okay, and we know how to respond to that bullshit. Well, President Trump declared that television networks were fusing to provide a live prime time coverage of his latest address on election security, should have their broadcast licenses
revoked. As you said, CNN ABC and NBC shows not to air the speech live while other networks like CBS and Fox news broadcasted their remarks. Although the president accused the boycotting networks of covering up election fraud, FCC chair, bread and car lacks the unilateral authority to terminate
these licenses, which are heavily protected by the communications act in the first amendment.
“Well, the first amendment, what's that? I don't remember that. Do we still have one of those?”
Yeah. I don't even, I haven't heard much about the first amendment except the part that said we should all be Christian. Remember that part, you know, that that's the part that they really emphasize more of these days. The part where we're allowed to say whatever we want and they can't punish us for it and watch whatever they're not free assembly. They don't like that so much. They're putting fences around parks where people protest, they're resting protesters. They don't like the first
amendment. All I can say is pathetic. It's pathetic. It's not going to work. It's a tantrum. He wants everybody to pay attention to him. And, you know, one of the people whose analysis I found most pity on this point, on the social media, where I spent far too much time, was representative Rho Kana, for instance, been in our podcast a few times, who said that Trump's fatal flaw at the
“moment is that he's boring. And I think, you know, he's onto something here. He's just saying this”
stuff over and over. Now, if it's a predicate for him doing something really shocking and legal and anti-democratic, we should pay attention. But in terms of sort of the overall positioning of the Republican Party, the support for Trump, you know, the polls are now showing his approval rating is mired. Not in the low 40s, where it's been in the 30s. We're getting down to that, like tiny
core of flat earthers and man never landed on the moon, folks, who are, you know, the base
of maga support, the real ignorance is out there. And, you know, sort of radical, right-wing, white supremacists who support everything he says, plus a few oligarchs who really truly only care about their tax cuts. And the rest of the world could be screwed, because all they care about is how big a pile of money they have. And so long as the pile of money that is big enough, they don't care. It gets all smoggy where they live, what do they do? Hop in the corporate
check, go someplace where it isn't that smoggy. You know, there are people protesting in the street,
go someplace else, build a fence, hire security. We'll never be touched by it. So that's the
base of Trump support. And he is down to that, and he is getting more boring. And that whittles away,
“because some of his support is from people who remember him from his, what was that? A reality show”
or a sitcom? I'm not really sure, but whatever it was, they remember it. They're like, oh yeah, he's entertaining. We need an entertaining president. I hope we're over that. We don't need an entertaining president anymore. You know, Joe Biden was a boring president. And some people penalized him for that. But he actually did a pretty good job. He shouldn't have run again. I, you know, I bear him a grudge on that. And also, you know, Gaza genocide, I bear him a grudge on
That.
who was president every fucking five minutes. That's all we talk about here. Surely there's
“something else to talk about, right, Riley? I'm sorry to interrupt, but I really have to tell you about”

The sure is, I've got an update for one of our big stories the week, and that is that federal officials have a linked, a multi-state cyclist, barisess outbreak to Mexican-grown iceberg lettuce that Taylor farms supplied to select. You want to take a guess, David? What restaurant do you think
“got this lettuce? I think this is unfair. I've been reading a little bit about this, and I know”
you're going to say Taco Bell because you hate Mexicans and immigrants. But first of all,
Taco Bell is American, and secondly, no, they supply their horrible iceberg lettuce to lots of people. And when I went to, I had dinner at five, like, you know, sometimes like, we have five, guys. And I had five guys last night, but because I want to look like Matt Damon and the Odyssey is he's down, and I heard he was just all gluten-free, so I had no bun. And when you have no bun at five guys, what do they do? They wrap it and let us. And I was like, oh,
my God. And now you have diarrhea? I have, Doug, I have Trump a riot. You know, there's a big debate, whether it should be called Trump, diarrhea syndrome, Trump, a riot, the Trump, you know, you know, people want to come up with a good name to associate the diarrhea with Trump,
and they should, because RFK Jr, well, first of all, the food drug administration, you know,
cut back on the inspections, and then the RFK Jr's HHS, you know, cut back on tracking of these diseases. Finally, of course, we have now found out the source. But I bet neither of you guys have had any fruits or vegetables in the past 48 hours, because you're afraid. I surely haven't had any lettuce, and I have like a predominantly lettuce-based diet, but I have been avoiding that. What are you, bunny rabbit? I love salad.
Shit, don't eat her bun. I'm a salad hater, so it has a little bit of wood lettuce. We're opposite ends of this spectrum. Yeah, well, look, please, avoid lettuce for a while. Everybody, okay, you don't need it. The last thing- have you read the descriptions of this cyclospiriasis? Yeah, it sounds a fucking horrible. It's horrible. Yeah, there's anything that's called "projective diarrhea." You don't just don't even want to be around that, right? But secondly,
it goes on for a long, long time. So, you know, avoid it, wash your hands, that, you know, don't eat lettuce. For a while, soon you can go back to eating lettuce, so you don't have to eat light. Well, iceberg lettuce is terrible. Anyway, then, you could have roman lettuce. You could have a rugola. Like all leafy greens. I don't discover a name. No, I don't bunny rabbit. That's so cute. That's so cute. Riley doesn't even know what we're talking about. He's from Ohio. It's like they
have like, you know, they have potatoes, they have steak, and then if they're going out to a fancy dinner, they have a nice bloom and an onion. We have a nice cheese coneys. We don't eat, and that
“has no vegetables on it at all. So, that's why it's the perfect meal. Yeah, and don't you have, like,”
in Ohio, the thing with chili and spaghetti? Yeah, it's great. It's called a three-way. It's called a three-way. Where's the restaurant? Everybody in Ohio, that's the first thing they when they go back is chili and spaghetti. What's the name of the restaurant? Like Skyline. Skyline.
There's also gold star chili, but I've never been there. I'm a Skyline faithful. Wow. Okay,
look, you tune in here. You get a lot of advice. By the way, Minnesota, the Odyssey, yes, they're Riley seeing the Odyssey tomorrow. I refuse to wait mine or buy tickets, but I have to,
You know, buy the main advance.
on the Odyssey. So, I said to say that Minna's brief report is two thumbs up. Correct, Minna.
I actually got my tickets to see the Odyssey like two months ago. I waited in line. I fought for
“the tickets. I sat in the very last row, and it was fantastic. I think everyone should go see the”
Odyssey and enjoy a nice epic. Enjoy an epic. Have an epic this weekend. All right. Well, what else do we have going on here? Epic weekend. Well, something that we haven't talked about on the podcast, but has been going on this week. That we talked a little bit about at the beginning. Is that an unprecedented fire hose of smoke fueled by a severe heat dome over Ontario and
Minnesota is blanketing the Great Lakes region, New England, and the Mid-Atlantic in hazardous
to unhealthy air. Driven by over 800 active Canadian wildfires, the massive plume of fine particulate pollution has choked major northeastern cities, forced thousands of evacuations, and is expected to persist through the weekend. Public health experts warn that the combined threat of the toxic smoke and soaring temperatures significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies, advising residents to monitor air quality and use N95 masks or indoor
air purifiers. Oh, masks again, Riley. I mean, I know the liberals. They're liberals. They're again, and you know, let's just be honest here. Trump's America just doesn't smell very good, does it? I mean, you got big clouds of stinky smoke, which I woke up this morning. Literally, I woke up this morning. My eyes were watery. And it wasn't the prospect of having to get up early to do this, but it smells bad here. And then if you combine that smell with the
pervasive smell of Trump diarrhea, that's not good. And then there are all these reports that Trump
“himself doesn't smell so good. You know, he says it's a golden age, but I really think it's kind of”
a stinky age. We live in a stinky age for the United States of America. And I don't think anybody can argue with that. If you do, of course, comment in our discord or send notes. And by the way, you know, we should do starting next Friday, Riley. Mina, give me a give us a suggestion. We should start doing live shows. God, that's such a good suggestion. Riley was slow slow on the uptake. Yeah, we should, I mean, there was so set up, because he and I talked about this for like an
hour yesterday. Yes, we should, good, good job, man. We should probably, like, why do I have to put up with this? What we should start doing live shows. So, you know what, folks? Every Friday, we're going to do this live on sub stack. And as we do it, you can make comments. And we'll see your comments live as we're doing it. So, when Mina starts talking about our movies, or Riley starts talking about the liberals and now he hates Riley's a communist, by the way.
So, I'm just, you know, the zaljoken. But if you can comment or you can ask questions, you could say, hey, David, what's the New Jersey perspective on this? And I will provide it for you in using real colorful New Jersey language. So, you know, if you're concerned about all the smoke and everything, you want to ask about us personally, every single week, every single Friday, you're going to be able to join us for the DSR Daily Live, starring Mina Stein, Riley Fester,
“and their little pal Dave. Anything else? Any other stories for today?”
Well, we've got one more, but it's more of the same. The United States expanded, how do you spell that? No, it's about how the US is bombing this shit out of Iran. Oh, yeah. Well, that's worked. Great. Yeah. Well, I'm sure this will have a different effect than the last 400 times we did it. Yeah. Well, you know, it might because we're expanding our air strike campaign against surrounding infrastructure, targeting key bridges, energy, energy facilities,
and port structures to force Tehran to ease its blockade on the Strait of Hormos. Iran retaliated yet again with a barrage of missile strikes against U.S. Allied and Middle Eastern
nations, targeting Qatar and regionally and severely damaging a critical water desalination and
power plant and Kuwait. Despite the rising violence and economic disruption, President Donald Trump
Insisted during his primetime attress that the military campaign is going wel...
winning big. Did he actually say winning big? That is a direct quote, I believe.
“Man, this dude is so out of touch. This thing is such a fiasco, but there is kind of, you know,”
even though the negotiation is not going anywhere and our negotiators are completely incompetent. The president has completely unrealistic expectations about this whole thing. We kind of know how this is going to be resolved, because we kind of know the big moving parts. And we had a discussion yesterday about this with Amos Hawkestein, who was the senior advisor on energy policy and Middle East policy in the Biden White House, he was a senior advisor and energy issues in the Obama White House
very, very smart guy who really understands the connection between national security and
energy markets and economy. And you know, one of the concluding points was, when you listen to analyses of wars like this, from purely military people, or purely intelligence people, you don't get this whole story. And you've got to look at the underlying implications for global energy supplies and the global economy to understand what's really going to drive us to a solution and what that solution is going to look like. It's not going to be like a big bow tie around it.
This will be a festering problem for a while. But neither side wants this to continue. So they're going to have to put a lid on it. And the question is, what is the lid on it look like? We also talked then about what does that mean about regional issues in the U.S. in the region, very, very good discussion, 30, 35 minutes long, definitely worth your time this weekend. Before you tune in, on Sunday, at three o'clock, after four hours of pregame show to the World Cup final,
because what is the thing to look forward to? Is it Spain's carefully coordinated attack, real kind of re- invigoration of the beautiful game? Is it the kind of miraculous strikes that we've seen from Argentina throughout all of this? No, no, it's not. It's at the president of the United States. Donald Someli Trump is going to go to the metalands. And I'm from New Jersey and I can tell you, they smell bad all the time anyway. And Donald Trump is going to go to the metalands and watch the
sitting next to the head of FIFA, one of the most corrupt guys in the world with whom he tried to steal a match earlier. Now, if interest in question will be, will the Prime Minister of Spain be there? Who hates Trump? Who Trump hates? Will Trump have to tolerate Spain winning? Because Trump's pal, the president of Argentina, surely has him rooting for the Argentine. Trump will spoil this event just like he did the next game, just like he does everything he touches.
Because apparently, at the end of the World Cup match, you know what Trump's going to do? He's going to co-present the World Cup trophy with Johnny Infantini, the head of FIFA, two of the most corrupt people in the world. Soiling the end of this great competition. That's something to look forward to. And I bet, Riley is not going to watch it because he will
“be going to see the minions' movie. And meta will watch it. That's what I bet. Is that correct?”
I'm hosting a watch party. Wow. And Riley, I will not be watching it. Okay. But I will not be watching the minions' movie. I've already seen it and it was terrible. Well, how could it be terrible with all those, how could it be terrible with all those cute little minions? I do not care for the minions. Well, why didn't you go to the minions' movie if you don't
like minions? Because I get regal on limited, so movies are just basically free. So I might as well see it.
That's what they're counting on. But you're going to see the Odyssey tomorrow. So you can report back on that Monday. Yeah. I'm going to see a hopefully actually good movie tomorrow. So I'm excited for that. All right. I'm asking the minions' movie tonight. So we can fight on Monday.
“We can do it. Which one is better? Exactly. And if you want to offer your opinions,”
join us next Friday for the first of our regular Friday live DSR Daily. Until then, try out of a good weekend. The only advice. Don't eat fruits. Don't eat vegetables.
