Here in the mean streets of Aspen, Colorado. Even in Aspen, that's a rock.

Wait to see this? We are here to talk about bike race. The other thing I want to say is, you know, I get a lot of questions. About the show, about the tour, about the dynamics of the race. Look at that. And I enjoyed my three weeks with Sir Bradley and George and Spencer. But at the end of the day, if you're talking about the yellow jersey, it wasn't really wasn't much of a race. I mean, Tate is that good. And so then, people say, well, you know,

they know I'm doing women's tour. And I say the same thing and I say, you know what? I can't wait because it's an actual race. It's going to be on both races. But this, there's just in sports, you know, you want some unpredictability and some variables here that make it exciting. Like, this is truly, and I'm like, at least I can sit down and watch me. Like, I don't know.

“I don't know. This is going to be a crazy. Yeah. And I think it's shaped up.”

This is shaped up to be the longest tour we're looking at nine days. The longest distance we've done, highest elevation. Yeah. And we are now going into year five. And we have four different winners

of the last four years. And this might be our first year that we're going to have maybe a repeat winner.

And we're going to dive into that, Lance. And we, we did enjoy your coverage of the Tour de France family back the men. But we're really happy to be here to cover the Tour de France fan events. Yeah. And of course, those, those three, Cassiniudoma, Demi Ballering and Pauline. I'm firm up. But the cool thing is, there's some PFP. Let's call it PFP. Yeah. Yeah. Also, some up-and-coming writers with Paula Blassey. I mean, there's going to be a lot of excitement.

A lot of variables. And as I just, and of course, I get kind of, you know, the absorbed with the men's tour. And I don't really, I don't like even in the men's race. I don't try not to look too far ahead. So I wasn't, of course, I spent the whole morning going through the women's tour and looking

“stage by stage. The things that stood out are first of all, there's an extra stage, right?”

And I think this is just going to continue to be the trend. Look, I wouldn't want to ride a bike with any of these women. So if I could ride nine days, I know, you know, it's, it's, they were getting there. And then the link to the stages, I was apparently one stage has as to have a special exemption. But I don't let your uterus fall out of exemption from UCI. Spoken just like somebody that's on the move. I mean, I think they are, like, growing it's

agree. You know, I mean, they're not making it too long too fast. The teams can absorb the growth that's happening. And it's, it's really exciting. And the fact that they added a time trial. Yes.

which is really going to, I think, mix up the GC. It changes riders preparation. We're looking

at about 729.9. So let's round up and call it 730 miles. And just 61,663 feet. So that's climbing Mount Everest twice in nine days. Yeah. Is it in no rest days? Yeah. So Lance, like this is really going to be different in how riders approach a grand tour. Because when you are just finished covering the tour to friends' family back with the men, you know, you probably have done this

“in your career. Like you have to ride into the, you can ride into the race. You know, and you”

were talking about it this year how this course was a little different than some of the traditional courses where maybe it starts out flat. And you know, you can ride into it until you hit the big mountains, whether it's a Pyrenees or the Alps. When it's only nine days, these riders have to come in hot and spicy, especially when we start talking what tomorrow looks like. Right. And these riders have to come in hot. Like, what do you think this preparation looks like for

riders like that? I mean, I, I, I, in looking at tomorrow and we will, we'll break it down tomorrow's stage and actually look at the profile. But it's one of the things that stood out. I mean, it's, it's, you know, there's no, uh, uh, sort of foreplay here. Whoops. Uh, I mean, there's a lot of people like on the move. Now, it's not, uh, a summer finish in the Alps are Pyrenees. This is an uphill finish. So where people can and will lose time. Like, I personally, as, you know,

that reflecting on my head, I would have hated that. Like, just give me a couple days to warm up and just, you know, especially the nerves of everyone. The nerves, just the nerves alone. Just chaotic

and then with an uphill finish. I think it's, I love, I mean, I was, I was borderline critical of the

men's route. I, I looked at this one. Like, this is, we've got a month on two. Now we're talking, you know, finish in knees three times up cold as a time trial. Like, yes. But with you guys, like, looking at this nine days grand tour, this is the biggest vibration in the world for women.

“How do you approach this when you need to come in hot? Great. I mean, they're coming out”

out to do camp. We're going to talk about the approaches. Like, I've definitely been looking, I'm spoken to a lot of writers. They're still my friends and colleagues. But they're coming in and they got to be spicy tomorrow. And they got it. They have nine days to perform at their highest level for the biggest show on earth for bikes. I don't, I look, I don't, I don't, I'm glad I don't race anymore in this generation. They're so finely tuned. I think they've kind of got that figured out.

We, we were not as, as we were very structured, but not like this. And, and I don't know, it seems like they've accounted for all that stuff. Yeah. And the training camps that they're doing, I mean, when you looked at Pauling, the camps that she did coming into this and what she looked like checking in yesterday or today, it's pretty unbelievable. I actually want to dive into that. So we're looking into our favorites. Can we do that? Yeah, absolutely. All right. So we're looking

“into our, our favorites. And I think the biggest battle personally, I'm just going to, I'm going”

to start, is between Damie and Pauling. I think I think I want to increase. And I think third place is

going to be Paula. Blossom on UAE. And, um, but they have two very different approaches. Damie's doing, you know, hanging out with her dog, doing yoga in the Alps. I fall on Instagram. She's been on our show. She's a, she's a big fan of the move, you know, you love her. And, you know, she's so very, like, this is what I'm doing. This is, you know, all with all my friends, I'm hanging out with my fiancee. All this team is really working hard to create that atmosphere for her. Because she needs

to be happy. But we've said it on the show before. There is this part of Damie that she's like namaste bitches. Like she's coming into kill. Namaste my ass. Yeah. Namaste bitches. And then you got Pauline. Pauline didn't post on the Instagram since June 5th. No one's counting. All though, we've been talking to her lens. We know she's doing. But I think though, dare I say, Pauline goes better than you. Hmm. Hmm. I don't know. Secret training. And they put a microphone

or face, they say, how many kilograms did you last? Did you lose? Don't worry. We've asked Remco. And she goes, what did Remco say? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, look, you can't. I mean, she's the defending champ. So there's all that. I fully support. Like I don't, I don't, I think when it's, you know, maybe some people are better. And, you know, we, um, during the minster, there was guys that would, they would have podcast during the tour, the day we're hosting, like, just go

dark. Just, just, you'll see. Also, I'll see you, um, August 1st. And we'll chat about it. Mario, what's your thoughts about it? I support that. I think she's, yeah, I'm impressed. And she knows how to prepare. She does it for big events all the time. The Olympics, World Championships, in multiple disciplines. And then last year, the way she showed up, you know, I expect her to be completely ready. But you still, it was still questionable when you saw her at the vault, and her

hiding and then comes out looking the way she looks. It's like, yeah. We're talking about the team

presentation. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't catch that. But that is always one of these places. You know,

it's, uh, where everybody's checking everybody out. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But she looks happy. I like that's a thing. She looks like really secure and happy. Like ready to go. And, yeah, so I think it's going to be a good battle. I love the right super pairs. And this is a woman who's World Champion and

“cyclical across road, mountain bike, gravel. I mean, the only thing she's not a World Champion”

is BMX. And if you look at it, though, this year, she did get second-it-flanders third and Rubei. So she had it like a good start early season, but 35th in the vault. He, she looks a little like sleepy to me. And then she goes silent. But she also says, like, this is, she goes, I don't race a season. I race one week a year. And this is how I prepare. And I'm like, Pauline, if this is your way, we are here for it. And we support you. And keep in mind of the three favorites, uh, three or four

favorites we're talking about. She's the only one who is French. This was, this was such, I remember last year it was such a big deal. This country that's just been starved of, of really any great champions or certainly over the last couple of decades. Now, of course, on the inside, you got Paul Seixas and there's some talk about that. But last year that was such a big story, she should. Well, I'd say the one thing that's kind of holding her about from like being like the outright

favorite is the time trial the 21k because she's more questionable in that event. We don't really

know. I mean, she has never done a world tour time trial. That is amazing. That is amazing.

How is that possible 21k? I mean, I saw the profile is not flat. It is, and it's not even rolling. It's just sort of up and then down and pieces of that up are get a little steeper, which would

“suit her. But you, how hard can you get in 21k? I don't, should be fine. I think. You think.”

I mean, it could be really interesting. I think maybe 40, five seconds, Matt. Two seconds, over two seconds, a commoner. Wow. I don't know on our arrow and her, if she's light and you're looking against Marlon Rouser and Ivana Brigan, Demi Volaring. I think that their aerodynamics and their size is, it's like, Ghana versus, you know, I mean, it's okay. Well, it's going to be so interesting to see what happens with the yellow jersey during the race. So

because I can say it's kind of trial. Marlon could have it. Yeah. That's going to open up the race. Yeah. And it's going to be on from the day one. You're going to have your GCU favorites up at the front because they can't lose time and an uphill sprint. And then you've got the time trial where you might get another leader, probably. So it's going to be slow. It's going to be so exciting because I think that the yellow jersey is going to change hands so many times that we're going to meet a

lot of people happen on the last day. I mean, when you look at the profile. Yeah, coldness.

Amazing. By the way, Allison, I meant to give you serious props for those who watch the show.

Your George did nothing to his shelves. Like we found stuff that we thought would, that it would embarrass him. And he was like, I didn't did nothing. And I walked in. I've been, you know, what y'all know. It's hard to miss the green street sign that was clearly stolen. So all you wherever town this this thing was stolen from to the local authority, abling Texas to the local authorities in abling Texas do not come over here and arrest this woman

for the next nine days. You're not supposed to steal those. You know that. But anyways, I don't know how I noticed it. And the chipmunker, the beaver, whatever, the mascot. The beaver. Now that we're just, I just had to take a random station break for random shit, but I just want to let the listeners know we're also going to do the voicemail line for

You know, we changed. We, we, we, we blame different people. Certain days could be even the blazes number. Oh, that'd be great. Blazes number. Blazes will pick up 24/7. You guys do that. Let's make it blazes. Should just give the real number. But anyhow. No, so that's nice work on the cabinets. Apparently, I've made some changes to mine. I haven't. I've been out golfing for last four days. I need a break. Sounds good. I need a bike break. I think you just needed a break from your

colleagues. Yeah. I've, no comment. I'm not Liz. Not Liz, Liz doesn't count. Not Liz.

this mountain. I mean, I think this is such. And we talked about it during the minzerace with

“with afterwards. I mean, it's, that's how it grew. And Vauntu is the same thing. I can't wait to see”

these women race up that thing and have hundreds of thousands supporting like it's such. It's a spirit. I hate to even say this. But that mountain, especially is a spiritual place. Like it is very, very special. It's, it's almost freaky. You're there. You're in the trees. There's no switchbacks. It's super steep. And all of a sudden you pop out and you're just in rock. It's going to be hot. It's going to be hot. It can be very, very windy. Your purpose is continuing to heat up,

which is going to make, make, it always makes things a lot harder. Before we, I did,

we need to talk about maybe a few more favorites just to talk a little bit because I do think we have and we can't even say that they're outliers or dark horses. I think that's unfair. But also on the approaches. So we do have Damie who is the only woman, the second woman. I think second, actually, that'd be correct to win all three grand tours. So that's like she's coming with Paul Mars. And if you look at her season, so she did this like she's won the zero. She was 49 seconds

down from Anna Vanneburgen in the last stage came back to win. And Anna Vanneburgen's had like a little rough year because now this third woman I'm talking about is Paula Blossie who is now rumored which is accurate to sign a million-year-old contract with a hundred thousand-year-old buyout

from a current team of UAE. Hang on. It's an accurate rumour? What do you mean? It's actually true.

Okay. That's don't know what team it's thought. What you were saying was this is actually what's

“happening. It is actually what's happening. And I believe it's true. Yes. And she wins the Volta.”

So we have these women. Damie wins the zero. Pauline wins not Pauline Paula wins the Volta. And then we have Marlon Russo who won the tour to Swiss. So this is much different than your men's side of things. So you have a people that have won these big races leading into this. And Anna Vanneburgen, the Volta and the duo all in the last day by these girls wrap you on the climb. And Anna's interview goes, "I hope I get top five." So SC works is going to look for stage

hunting. They have Lorna Weebis. But I think Paula Blossie we need to look into. She won Amstell Gold this year. She's young. She's 23 as months old. She's only just came on to the scene. Like it in the last year. It was her first year. So I mean, it's pretty unbelievable. Yeah, it's done. Yeah. I mean, that's, yeah. She wrote away from them on that climb and the well, Anna at least on the climb of the Volta on Angrilo. Yeah. Which is just a very hard climb.

And she's the first, she's the second ever million dollar rider. Yeah. Which is an actual rumor.

It's actually true. Yeah, it's true. But it's great. Like it's happening. Yeah, it's happening. And so I think though she's my, I think she might get third is my, I think she's on the podium overall. Um, but I think it's interesting to watch. But a little tedious bill here is her team, UIE that just changed their name. Every all the teams are changing their names. It gets complicated. You know, this is art. This is our beef with cycling. There's no like franchise and they change

their names like all the time. Canyon's ram loses their crypto. Everything changes. So we'll just call it

“Canyon's ram still because that's what's about to ever change. But the team is saying that she's not”

their leader. What? And so when you look at the, you know, the pictures where it's like little geese like in a row, she's in the back where they're kind of like hiding her face. And they're like, yeah, she's not our leader. I mean, she's just won the world, though. I mean, that's not, that's not, that's just not a comfortable situation. I mean, you had this with Remco and Leapowitz. I mean, it just, it makes everybody uncomfortable. I had it in in 2009 with contour and, and everybody

is uncomfortable. On edge walking on eggshells, the staff. So they want to be you. They don't have two team leaders. They are saying they have three. All right. Lambo, at least a Longopurgini, Dominica, and then Paula. Yeah. What? How are you going to do that? We'll know it's working for anyone else on that team. They're all just kind of riding to say safe. Yeah. Well, the road, the road sorts all these things out, unfortunately. But my, you're going to read it now. Uh, no, go ahead. Okay. And then I will.

Okay. Question then for you guys, because we have two writers that I think are interesting, Paula Blossie, and then are also a former winner of the Tour de Fonts Memovix with Casia is going to we assume trek, little trek. And well, she's done with Canyon's Ram, and she's going to little trek. We know that's happening. So yeah. It's not official. So what are these teams going to do when you have writers that you know are leaving the team do like, what is that going to look like?

Like, how do you guys? We have the situation with Demi two years ago. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's awkward.

try and be on the, the podium. And not one. I don't know that they would show anything. Most people

He left. And so for those at home that don't even have no idea what I'm talking about, I understand every year at the end of the men's tour, which some of these years has

coincided with the start of the women's. We have this pie a party for the team. Well, this year, I'm there. I'm sorry. I was like, who is that? You'd say me in. And who is that? I don't know them. I don't know him. I don't know her. Who are these people? Who do you like? People so much? I don't. I don't. I don't. I'm like, who are these women? My sweatpants. They're all dressed up. By the way, this, this, and I've always, not always, but as I thought about the structure of men's cycling, I love the way, actually, that the women's grand tours are, are built out, right? I think when I think about, for example, tennis, right? There's something to be said for winning a grand slam, right? If you can win an all-for, right? The Australian, the French, Wembleden, US Open, that's a grand slam. If these were three week events, it'd be

impossible for, probably impossible for a human to do. Meanwhile, in cycling, you can't win a

shortened them and I'm talking about the men's race, then it starts to be possible. It's a story,

right? It's a, it's a story line. So look, I love, I mean, there's, it's total, maybe not. I mean, it seems feasible that one of these women could win a grand slam. Yeah. And sick. hasn't been done yet. Only two riders have won all three GTs, but not gin and tonics. That's grand tour. Anyway, gin and tonics really is. But all in the same year was Van Bluten, has done all in the same year. Yeah. What's she up to now? I had a baby. Oh wow. And she does commentating for your

sport. Yeah. And she wrote a book. Yeah. Five Americans, a tour. I want big gent, Kristen Faulkner, and there. Is that, we happy with five? Is that, uh, would be a last year? We had about the same

“last year. Yeah. But this year, we have, much younger ones. So three, I think are two or 23 and one is”

24. And then we have Kristen Faulkner, who's a little older and Heidi Franz. I can't remember her age 29, 28, somewhere in there. So we have some younger women coming up and, you know, they have had some big training camps. Yeah. Yeah. And Chloe Diger, you know, former world champion and winners is out for now. So we'll see how we can build another surgery. Yes, shoulders. And she got hit by a, she got in an accident yesterday too. So what? I know. A bike accident. Yeah, I've heard her

shoulder. So putting it back. I know. I know. I know. It's not good news. So wow. But, uh, do you want to, um, yeah. And I guess, I guess, some of our little wild card just, I think we need to mention for just overall classifications. We don't know what costume's going to be like. She's

“had some rough crashes. Her performance has kind of been all over the map. But I think that's just”

how she races. Like she just races with a lot of motion. And I don't know. Her husband Taylor Phenia said he's coming back. And he wasn't trying to make the Olympic track team pursue. Yeah. And we got Marlin Racer. And I think tomorrow, I, we've got my pick for stage four, which we were going to go into. We got the TT is big. But we have Zoe backstit who just won nationals in the road race and the time trial. And she just won a race in Belgium. So she's this her first tour. No, she's

race last year. But I think tomorrow she's actually a really good person to watch. But Marlin is my pick. So I think that this, she's going to be someone that we are possibly going to see in the yellow. She wanted to sort of switch this year. And she goes second overall in the zero last year. I mean,

“she's always there. I think Vantus is going to be too hard for her. She's, you know, I don't know.”

She's actually worth about the same size. But you know, but she's, you know, a very powerful writer.

But tomorrow in Switzerland and she's a Swiss writer. I mean, she might go bonkers or she going to say her for the time trial. I think you're going to see the, you know, the DC writer is trying to go for it tomorrow. Do you think so? Let's go. Well, I mean, it's like, who's your pick for tomorrow? It's an uphill finish. Well, I mean, I think I don't know that they'll necessarily win this for it. But I think I would choose Longo, Borgini and this finish. But sorry. Let's, uh, well,

since we're talking about tomorrow, pull up the profile. Let's do the profile. And then I want to actually take it step back in a second. Look at the actual, here's, um, here's the profile tomorrow. So you do see this uphill finish. 4 categorized climbs 1700 meters. Just, you know, it's, uh, that'll get your attention on day one. That's, uh, I don't know, uh, over 5,000 feet of climbing. Oh, but this is the worst. Yeah, I totally hate day ones. Uh, that finishing climb, um, 2.6

climbers at 4.5% little deceiving because there's sections of 8, 6, 7, 8% hard. As I said earlier, in the show, I don't love just coming out of the gate with, you know, the possibility of getting gapped off or, or it kind of reminded me of last year when we saw Pauline came come out in like the

second or third stage with that kind of hill finish and all of a sudden you saw this acceleration that

she had on the first stage that I was at first. Yes, so I'm in similar. I think we'll see who's got, as she totally looks bad first day. I think Voss is a huge chance tomorrow. I think Voss would be good too. Go pecky as is a good chance. I was going to spread rumors that I thought she maybe was pregnant, but she's on the start list. Like, as she caught, she didn't do altitude camp with the team. I didn't know she got married. She wasn't an altitude camp. I didn't know. This is not,

you know what, this is the move. Okay. I didn't know. Not TMZ Allison. We're trying now.

No, but she's at the door and tomorrow is really good for her. But I could see Voss and yellow. Yeah, great. Pull up the map of the scene and kind of just see Jen when we're speaking where this race goes. And we were chatting about it in the pre-show, poor North and Northwest of France. You got nothing this summer, you got no men's tour, you got no women's tour. I love this route. I love it. You get the Alps. You get the Messief Central. You've got the South of France. Finish

in these. I love it. Everything about it. Look at you being positive. I do. I mean, I'm a sucker for

I'm a huge fan of the South France. I love their most of my career and the roads are incredible.

Cold as is iconic. It's the finishing stages of Perry Knees. This is an iconic

bike race. We're talking about the whole thing. The general classification is not over till it's over. Exactly. long bike race. I love how events like this just create stories. I mean, we had the story after I'm spacing on her name, the young friend Trider, who won two stages of the like the Harry Potter class. I was like, that's a story. Like this is, yeah, it's like a master's degree and like, I don't know something. Um, any other great story. Yeah, squibble. Yeah. I'm a big squibble. She's back. She's back. You ready to go. Yeah. Mom, mom. She's on UAE. She's ready to, like, stage hunt for sure.

She's going to be great. Um, I think we, that's a their exciting part is after we tomorrow. I think it's going to be a very interesting story. Who takes the first yellow because it's not going to be as classic. We, you know, we got Kim Laquart, which you loved following her last year. I mean, she was in the yellow jersey for sports stages. First African rider. That was really fun for us to cheer her on.

I always in my big fan to watch Puck Peters. You know, my cat's name, Puck.

But yeah, she's all I though is like the one that's going to be a huge story to kind of try and follow. I think the story is going to be watch how that team detonates. I'm a little more hopeful in the next. No, I think it'll be really fun for Lance and I. I think like the other stories are going to be Lorina Weebis. Um, Lates, you might have missed this, but at the giro, she went stage 1 of the giro. It gets the pink jersey, right? And she's stoked. You know, and she's not going to keep the

pink jersey right. It's the giro. And she wins. She gets on the podium, puts on the pink jersey.

your pink jersey away back because your bike was 300 grams to light. And this bike, she has raced in one. She had a one by on. So like the weight difference between the one by and a two by was just like marginal marginal perfectly flat stage. Weight didn't matter. She's been racing this bike. She gets disqualified from the race. Not even just DFL. It's disqualified. And then the pink jersey goes to Balsamo. And so then she's just pissed. So I think she's very angry. And so

and she can climb. She can climb. So she actually might win the morrow. You got Capeckey and her or a good team. And she can get over those hills. And the last 400 meters of the finish is flat. So she can make that 2.4K at 4.6%. Yeah. Can you imagine you get home and you got your jersey? Well, you'd be mad at your mechanic for sure. Yeah, you were. I mean, I was like,
