up to us back to the same finish line yesterday Richard Carapaz wins with an incredible another incredible solo victory with RIMCO Evan poll surging from the GC group 26 seconds behind

to get second set coups it was in the lead crash twice inside the final few kilometers finishes 31

seconds back and tadipagachar fourth 105 back rolling in with this teammate on UAE Zectal Toro

“who secured third overall and the white jersey so big day for UAE they seal the overall win which I think”

a lot of us forgot about we were so focused on the third place and they get third so they get two riders in the podium white jersey yellow jersey not a bad day for them at all Carapaz gets the stage win plus the K of M jersey because he was the first over every climb except the final climb the cold day the cold day seren which was won by Cepcus who looked like he was on the way to win in the stage before crashing will also preview tomorrow's truncated stage in Perry

which is probably gonna be quite good maybe even better with the shorter stage but Johan Johan do you want to make a public apology to Mads betterson he said he wouldn't make it over the coldest buffered break away and he was dropped and he said hey you know I got to get up to that break away yeah I mean listen you can't put anything past Mads betterson man what a guy

“I think what I said Spencer is probably I said you know well I first said it's gonna be very”

hard and then secondly I said it's probably better he doesn't do it and saves himself for Paris because I thought that you know even if he would make it over the the crowd of fair there would be too many riders in front for the sprint and that was the case there was a lot of riders in front but he had the strength and the energy and the courage to you know come back to that group then attack them and then come back in the downhill and win that sprint so I mean what

yeah I mean apologies to Mads I underestimated you man what else is there that he cannot do you know we saw all these climbers getting dropped on the crowd of fair on the glondon the the first part of the of the crowd of fair and then he just stayed there he was 30, 40 seconds down and when you saw that he was you know you could see the difference and he was pushing it to stay close so anyway today he seals the the green jersey tomorrow he doesn't even have to sprint or anything

he's it's mathematically in the in the bag which is nice and you know that was the main goal of

“little trek all along so you know speaking of little trek Spencer you know I think”

no they so they win the green jersey they have a stage win they have two guys in the top 10 they have six and seven place and they win the team GC it's not about two of the fronts for them you know well this is a great deal of this here the toughest yeah well they happen at the zero they had a stage win they had a green jersey they had a rider in the top five if not the top four right with Derek yeah Derek's top five they won the KOM which is Kony no they didn't win green that

was the thing Paul money won green so they lost green but they did win the final stage they won a jersey and they had a rider in the top five you know they get a lot of crap but these are some pretty good yeah they did some pretty good results actually yeah yeah very good very good anyways you know back to the day stage Spencer I didn't die didn't die pick got a pass yesterday in the movie yeah you did win the stage today we did do used it was Carapazer Pagachar and then a

bunch of other guys probably could have won too yeah yeah but man these last three days man got a

pass golden legs golden legs you know incredible morale what a fighter you know initially he started

the stage as he said in his interview his intention was to you know secure the the pocket

a parapenter was still there or even I mean he was close but then you know he's a parapenter got dropped straight away on the on the telegraph already before the guy leave you and then Carapaz switched his mind and you know said okay I can win the stage and he had to fight for it you know until the very end but this is what we have seen many times already of Carapaz in ground tours you know like the last week he is on a roll and he's unstoppable it's crazy how much better he is in the

third week than everybody else and then in the first part of ground tour yeah it is crazy I mean I guess it helps that the end of a grand tour is usually higher altitude and it seems not to be affected by how I altitude at all with the explosion today wasn't saying his last three stages he's first third and first if we took the did we started the GC on the rest day on the second rest day he would have won the two of the fronts like he took more time on everybody in the last

five six days then yeah that's you know that's you know that's that's you know that's that's subjective Spencer you know it is hard though it is hard to be like think about yesterday like you're so close to an out-to-estage when you get caught and then they come back out and the

“do what he did is it's pretty unbelievable yeah yeah and yeah I can't say no I mean I think”

I think they're gonna have to give him the most combative rider of the tour I mean if they don't it's a joke right you could say you could say betterson also for what he has done but I think in terms of combativity they got they have to pick out of us there's no lot of way they have to pick out of us yeah it's such an interesting style of riding too because he finishes it eighth overall just pretty good if he put his whole heart into it maybe finishes top five with

Lenny Martinez but he doesn't like he maybe sacrifices a few G.C. spots to just yeah he wouldn't have won a stage no no and he does this and he wins two stages KOM and I would bet if you just pulled random people he would be the most memorable rider from this race you know he's wearing

the polka dot jersey which which helps and he's always attacking you know if people probably

don't understand why he didn't win the tour of France why is this guy winning what's going on yeah yeah like he is he is flying around out there it's it's really cool to see like it he said so many different stages to his career as well he was the straight up G.C. guy one the zero got third

“at the tour second at the vault the second at the zero and now I think he has now three stages”

in the tour four in the zero and three in the vault or three in the vault and three in the zero something like that hold that thought so let me click on the active button so he has he's 10th amongst all active riders in Grant and Grant tour stage wins which again is really impressive because almost everybody else is a sprinter so four zero three two or three vault uh that's that's really good when he can't win a sprint or a time trial because everyone I had

of the people had of him are timberlier rinkweb and a pole john dead in call madspiders send wealth in art Jonas vinaigarde who has quite a few time trial wins in there yes for Philips and quite a few sprint wins. Primus rogots tadipo gotcha so he's probably the only rider in there actually without a time trial or sprint win yes has to pick a spots and he can do it he's definitely value for money for yeah wouldn't you say yeah yeah for sure I mean he's he's the guy who mean

other without him I don't know I mean they had a few guys I mean Ben Hilly did a good last

week and you know it was also very crucial to helping Karapas you know getting in breaks or

bringing breaks back or setting it up for an attack but other than Karapas there was nobody else of EF okay ever came close to winning a stage no they were they had they had Alex Bodhan in the first week who was at some point you know on his way to taking the yellow jersey and then finally

“didn't work out I think yeah yeah but he's really it's coming out ball team you would think”

by his Karapas on EF but he gets the he get they let him commute from Ecuador just nice for him and when he gets this the whole team though it's it they haven't basically enough of a vacuum in the GC in the sprints the whole team could work for him to get these stage wins in this jersey so

it kind of works for him it's an interesting case study and not always going to the biggest best team

in it working out for you what did you think did you think SEPCUS had this win going over the final climb honestly I think so I think so he he dropped Karapas twice on that last climb

yeah I mean what an unfortunate incident that crash it was you know was coming out of a tunnel we didn't

see the crash but you know when you think it's all done I mean it was not done yet but you know that last those last three and a half kilometers above the west were relatively easy compared to the call this our end which is really hard climb by the way you know you know who was the last winner on that on that same stage the same climb in a in a doffy in a doffy knee they didn't want to say I don't know if it's happening to tour in the doffy knee yeah oh man I have no idea

Peter Kenya really interesting yeah wow what a talent holy smokes yeah what happened to him

“he said he's just drawn a stanna I think yeah stanna yes yeah yeah he was like I was a big talent”

holy smokes that's a good trivia you're on that should be an attempt trivia but uh Spencer we need to we know before we talk about the rest of the GC guys man mozzarella come on this is insane man this is ridiculous what what this guy has done and stages that were absolutely not for him and today and today was was today was you know we saw him in a few stages where you could say oh can he'd make it can he not make it but today was like okay

now my Peter's and cannot make this it's the high altitude mountains it's over 2,000 meters and man he he he stayed like 20 30 40 seconds back came back to that that group where I guess it was Adam Yates putting the pace knowing I was Adam Yates putting the pace of the time and then you know attack and and come back to the first group and win the sprint man hats off to him that was that was unbelievable unbelievable it is unbelievable he seems to be

“able it's a hard to explain it's a key to size how fast he wants to go it's like well I just need”

to go I'm on this climb and I just need to go faster which is harder I don't it sounds really simple but I would love that kind of I would love to have I would love to have had that kind of

mental button and when I was racing right now I worked for me it never worked man I was a go faster

and just get more power and fly up the climb it was really impressive I'm trying to make sure we're not falling predatory since he buys have we seen anything like this in the green at just off the top of my head I do remember to her who shoved getting over some big out-py mountains in 2009 I believe to win green but there's been guys there's been guys I mean not recently for example I'm thinking about Loran Challa bear 92 be one the green jersey and then earlier on Sean Kelly

you know won the green jersey and one year he was 14 the two were there how man that's crazy but even the fact that we're even mentioning Sean Kelly yeah with Matt's better sentence is pretty wild and like yeah I don't know if you think about oh like it's almost like Peter Sagan asks but he wouldn't can the crazy they might mad as he wanted well-chamed no

relatively young Spencer Sagan was never able to do this with what better than did today

Sagan was never able to win he did win the tour california overall with some

“finishes come on yeah but there was the year remember he had the bad crash he was going for green”

and he was he was in the breakaway in the Alps and then he unfortunately crashed on the descent he had some years where he was really going for it in the mountains yeah yeah but getting over the getting over the growth of fair I've never seen him do that better than this is one of a kind man you know and then also me man it's like he just programs it and just said okay this is what I want to do and this is what I'm doing it's crazy it is crazy and you're right now because if he gets zero

points tomorrow he still wins so if the the risk would have been he does this and he doesn't make it and then he gets zero points and then he still has to score points tomorrow but I guess he kept it seems like all of his risk calculation his tour has been well it's a risk and I have to go hard well just do it anyway because you know think all the way back to stage what was at stage 17 where he went too hard for no reason and then got it actually worked against him he just he could have

said well all back off I'll be a little bit more conservative no he just kept going harder and harder

“riding in the front in the valley to keep people from attacking del Toro I think oh no they're”

going to get to the seren and it's game over for del Toro and de Catalan thought that too because de Catalan tactical masterclass they have Nicholas Prudon writer revelation of this tour by the way okay is unbelievable speaking of speaking of Prudon Spencer you remember two of the Alps last year yes yes he's the Paul Seixas and Prudon were both of them in front and and Seixas 18 years old back then no proists no pro wins decided that he's still going to win enough

and that Prudon had never won a race in his career and gifted this stage went to him man

speaking of an investment in a teammate Prudon has since won several races but man he's turning himself inside out for Paul Seixas in this tour of France so that was a great decision from Seixas doing two of the Alps yeah that's payback with dividends that that is a wild and it's it does seem like it helped him a lot he's been a different writer since then he was great today pacing on the front they have Matthew Ricottello in the break away he comes back he's

pacing as well in the front and they long you can kind of tell though while this is happening that Paul Seixas does not look amazing yeah and he attacks and drops himself and del Toro gets up the road I do commend them for trying it I'll you know you know the mauvais star in Rick you know like in Rick moss is going to attack he's going to attack and he never attacks this is why right because guys are afraid they're going to attack and then get dropped and there was a risk that he

would lose fourth to Lenny Martinez he'd write his butt off to the finish line to say fourth place he could have just ridden in conservatively so it is like very commendable he did that he did try he did try he did try I mean you could I was I was I mean when when was on the

“Galibier when I mean I think Pugachar said something to grow shardner at some point”

and then he started to pull himself and basically it was who was left on the Galibier it was Remko and Seixas and El Toro and then yeah Lenny Martinez came back but those were the only four guys with with Pugachar I thought by myself man this is early you know because now who's going to work well guess what Pugachar didn't need any help I mean I mean today to me it's it felt

like I've never I've never seen a race where Pugachar like felt so dominant that basically

I can do whatever I want whenever I want he was like on a zone two training right

“with a bunch of cyclotorists that's what that's what it looked that's how dominant he felt”

because you know that pacing on the Galibier that's one thing you know but then he did the

hold downhill then he did the whole valley because the the second part of the down and let's

the call the lotare from the other side and that's that's a descent that's a peddling descent and that's a descent where you know you're you're on the front it's like three four percent you're on the front spending a lot and in the wheels you spent nothing like nothing nothing it did not matter you know and so initially I thought when the little track guys and the guy from Red Bull came back no it was no it was it was Kiel Mosa and Varne Gilles and the Decathlon guy

Adam I said you know what I mean the Red Bull guy in the Decathlon guy I probably were going to start pacing here you know to set up to keep it steady for Ramco but they didn't for Gacha just did not care then they start called the Saren and that was actually funny

“I mean I think you saw it also when Prudon went to the front and then Pogacha went next to him”

and he looked at him he said well what the how are you doing you know I didn't say it but that look that look to to Prudon was like telling I say what are you trying to do that was

yeah amazing and then finally when when Decathlon took over and you could see that Pogacha and

the total started to talk with each other which is also very depressing for sex outside yes there they already knew that they had the third place in the baguette and yeah then sex I mean listen first of all takes us the fourth place incredible but again you know this is a guy we can talk about another guy who's you know with second then he's not happy Pogacha's as a fourth and he's not happy you know in his mind today I saw an interview of him

with the French press in his mind today he cracked you know he didn't really crack he lost some time he didn't blow up you know me he the tour de France is long and hard so this is what should have happened already after day 12 then or 12 that happened on day 20 and not really in a bad way you know he lost one maybe one of the hardest mount stages yeah yeah yeah he didn't leave you right he didn't lose that much time he lost 150 150 to Pogacha there's not much time yeah yeah yeah so so yeah

I'm amazing amazing performance but I can tell you that of course he has to be happy it's a great

performance but he expected to be on the podium which is a great mindset you know for a young guy like that it is a great mindset I was just laughing myself he's like I got to be by Bums Bums Pogacha Evan Paul Del Toro like when he expected to be on the podium instead of one of those guys like that is a lot of confidence not a lot of confidence yeah by the way another another great right today Lenny Martinez today amazing right he was the the only guy to stay with that podium

yeah you know and so you know he got criticized quite a bit yesterday for his way of racing

“which you know I think to a certain extent was kind of justified because”

I think he was the reason why they didn't stay ahead but today he showed that he belongs there you know it's not just by being in breakaways he was there with the top three yeah so he finished his two seconds behind Del Toro and Pogacha are from the GC group which is that that's a pretty big vindication I mean I'll also on today stage there was no there's nobody in this top 10 that that fluked their way there this is a pretty honest stage

yeah hard to get ahead of the thing but you think Spencer like a stage like today stage 20 by far in terms of the course I would argue that there's probably stages that have been race so fast that they felt a lot harder for the riders but you know such a stage on stage 20 with 5,400 meters of climbing is that not a bit too much you know I mean we saw a great race we saw a great race don't get me wrong it was a great race for the stage when then it was

still a battle for the for the podium but man to do this on stage 20 that's that's a bit

transition stages and then go to Paris well that's what they used to do back in your day yeah I get the

“the flip side of that is it's on stage 20 I yet to tell yourself is I'm done when I'm done so”

there's something to be said for that from an entertainment perspective it's terrible if this was on stage 16 and they and they noodle their way to Paris oh my lord I hated that and you just get these nothing stages for like stage 18, 19, 20 are like breakaways from an entertainment perspective not great I did wonder today I was like man this is kind of mean like let's look at the like there's a lot of riders just in that group had a fight not finishing

not that far back 43 minutes back is the last rider I was just gonna check how far the the last guy that nobody out of time limit now I mean it doesn't happen as much anymore so there's two DNF's Van Wilder because he crashed and then Pascal acrimon yeah who okay so nobody out of time limit yeah not sure I knew he was at this race and yeah I mean people don't miss the time alone as much I

guess everybody's a better climber now like Lance and Georgia always check and they watch that

every day and I'm thinking like it's been a long time since a big group missed the time limit you know what I mean usually it only happens to guys who are injured or sick yeah I was a time limit you know if you're healthy you you make it usually which is also possible that they increased that they increased the time limit maybe yeah because also the faster the races the higher the percentages true true well I guess so if it's like 17% of five hours 50 minutes oh it looks like it's fixed

though so they can go faster and it doesn't hurt the percentage if that makes sense they like come up with a projected time yeah but normally it's usually it's all I mean depends on the kind of stage you know with every stage has a certain category and then these different with difficulty category that's it's considered so much and then it depends on the on the average speed of the of the stage

“also that they they increase the I think it's still like this I know anyway I don't know I never”

to sit in that valley it's not easy to be on the front and he's just on the front and lands for sand as we're watching he's like i'd be afraid that someone would attack me you know like i wouldn't want to be on the front even his lands are strong so that's saying something and he didn't seem to care didn't seem worried at all um we're gonna save the but we're gonna save room cofer

last the best for last so del Toro how do you rate his performance pretty good right third place

“so i a plus a plus i mean i think i think i put him as third place before the tour when we talked about the”

podium i said i think i said bogacha or vingo art del Toro if i'm not mistaken you know there's always going to be the question right i mean what would have happened with Remko and del Toro if you're not with still in the race how would the gc have looked but anyways del Toro podium white jersey stage when basically all of it with an incredible gregario luxury gregario bogacha but still you know you still have to pedal up those climbs amazing performance this guy i mean

he's not always you know second in the g-roll third in the tour and it says there was professional

those are his two grand tours starts yeah right yeah two grand tours second in the g-roll third in the tour it's pretty good not bad no and to have your first tour and i think i've never raised the tour so i don't know i'm just trusting what you tell me and what i see with my eyes it seems like the tour is a level above you see people lany martina's for example first tour the guy looked like he was he looked overwhelmed just to put it kindly and to come in on your first tour

and to just finish third on the podium that's really impressive i would give him any wobbled a few times even wobbled on the gullibier but he came back from that you know when he had Paul success coming at him so to finish third is his really impressive how would you rate Paul success's performance also i mean uh there's only one thing he could have done better was to be on the podium

“but i think it's you know it's yeah it's great all over the three weeks you know today he”

you know he thinks he cracks he cracks today i don't i don't think he i mean he just felt the

three weeks of the tour of France um amazing amazing amazing also looked pretty good i mean today

a little bit less but all the others other other days he looked pretty good you know yeah look better than at the beginning of the of the tour actually in the second part of the tour yeah uh and also a great team man great team around him i mean amazing team around him they're going places that team yeah you know you watch that team and they they kind of had they have a vision they clearly have a vision they kind of already have a figured out i i mean

of course we don't know the details but you know i i hope he stays at the gut alone me too it's definitely the team that and they have resources to build even more strength around him you know yes they have great equipment great sponsors good riders seems that they have all the staff figured out you know they got lots of lots of staff from other top teams that they hired

“i think i think you should stay there yeah i think so too i think you'll be a mistake to leave”

Remko Evan Opole and second how would you rate his performance extraordinary i would say i did not exceed that coming although he already finished in third place at the tour the France two years ago you know we forget very quickly you know and and he has one a grand tour already there's not many riders in the race that one grand tours although you know you can debate you know what kind of level was the world tough still it doesn't

really matter what the level was you have to get over those plans and you have to be the best of everybody who is there you cannot win a grand tour if you can't climb Spencer that it's impossible what about what a Johnny boonio did that wasn't there some you were they did a flat zero am i making that up Johnny boonio was second in the tour the France one twice on up the west he's at it it was at the guy they did the flat zero for to have that right

no no no no that was Francesco Moser Francesco Moser okay okay i was not flat but it was flatter and they took some stages out and then you know there's the i love that i love that by the way

the big favor then there was a lot a super long last time trial and apparently the helicopter was

“flying in a way that he was pushing Moser and pushing Finion back that's the story i don't”

know if that's true or not anyways Francesco Moser was an amazing champ you know first winner

of the white jersey by the way in 1975 crazy yeah world champion our world record three times buddy to bear stuff like that I mean pretty he was not a he didn't have the build of a climber so he was a tall strong eye still still in incredible shape by the way in his seventies and let's get them let's get them out to a training camp come on Francesco we want to write we do that i spoke to his son i spoke to his son on in strada bianca that's his nephew okay

his son is i don't remember his son his son was a professional cyclist on BMC and i forgot his name now i don't know if he's a professional around the development team but then i spoke to him on the piano on the plads are there and then we we called his dad we call we called for so i spoke with Francesco so he invited me to go to his winery whenever i'm in Italy so interesting they came up on the invitation when they that could be good outing

at large show from the most i'm wondering so yeah Remco do you think he would have finished second

“i agree i think second's an amazing finish no notes do you think he would have finished second”

if you're honest with you honestly i don't think so although although i have to say action yeah that's true you know you may be right because the Remco we have seen you know since plateau the solizo was to second best rider in the race no discussion there was nobody better than than him a part of forgot char so you know don't think Jonas would probably have been able to shake him that much he would have taken time on Jonas in the time trial yeah so it's to be seen you know

even today it would have been good yeah he probably even puts time at a Jonas today if ghost Jonas we don't know Spencer because if Jonas is here it's a completely different race i think we would have seen more attacks of of today you know because one day is true today yeah that they letting other riders go away i personally don't think that forgot char would let Jonas get away because he would stay with with the daughter because that's a different rivalry

that's a real rivalry you know i don't think i don't think i don't think that they sees any rivalry with Remco he's so far ahead that he in so if today if today for example if today uh forget char is what six minutes what is it six minutes six twenty six six twenty six you know it's because he decided to you know it's just because he decided they didn't he didn't need to have seven minutes yes and i actually i don't know if we fully digested this
