I feel like a homestick should go to Lorraine or Weevis.

Okay.

To work talking, the first homestick, and I think it's well deserved.

Making a climb that say, sprinters can't make it over, and this girl owned it, waxed it,

second leader's jersey, and so far, unless somebody's going to call in right now and say,

"I've got taken away from her, she is our first yellow jersey winner." That's a homestick. Thanks to Lorraine or Weevis. Good to hear. Move it the day.

Move it the day, move it the day, too. And we are back, welcome back to the move podcast. I'm Lance Armstrong, joined by Mari Holden. Who's on the mend? I'm on the mend.

I'm on the mend. I've got the hot tea, you know, honey in there. I'm trying it all. I love this though, real quick. Can I just move the tea for a second?

Look at this. This is how Mari makes notes. This is her notes. This is her chest. She's the most beautiful.

I mean, that's a bit. That's actually great. She's the sweetest one at the bunch. Exactly. Do not get on Mari's shit list.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, okay. And of course, the real shit starter. That'll protect you down there.

And, uh, Alain of course, we put him in time out.

We've got Mel Hinkepie going to join us sort of virtually telling us every day what we did. None of us want to try to pronounce French. But Mel, what happened here on stage one? Stage one from Lousanne to Lousanne. Okay.

Lousanne to Lousanne. I feel like we could have done that one. I was going to say it. There was one day that you could have let us say it. It was today.

But you didn't make it sound better than we would have. We could have done it. But in who doesn't love a little redemption story? All right. All right.

Lorena Weebis. We talked about her yesterday. Went in the first stage of the duo. Clearly some miscommunication. I guess with the mechanic and they waited.

But I'm assuming they're waiting her bike as we speak. Uh, was not not relegated. Was disqualified. Uh, from the entire race and in redemption. Yeah.

Incredible. Second grand tour this year that she's done the leaders jersey on stage one. Uh, guaranteed her bike is being weighed right now and guaranteed her mechanics double and triple check that. I'm curious if she's riding on one by today or not. I don't think so though.

I've adventure to say she's never going to have that happen again.

Right. And she will be riding tomorrow by the UCI headquarters. So if we see a little bird flying by, we will know why. In a yellow jersey in a yellow jersey. It's a very first yellow jersey of this Twitter friends family of ex-wift.

With pride of best nails of their team nails. We got it. We have a snap shot of the nails. Of course she's we talked about her nails over the years. She never disappoints with the nails.

I love it. Yeah. A lot of work goes into that. Got the ordering on there. We all are wearing her earrings and she is just like us that way.

But her nails definitely steal the show. And Lance like you are very perceptive. I mean you're really in tune with a lot of things. Okay. What do you want to do?

You're noticing my decorating the bookshelf. Yep. That was easy.

And you notice Lorraine is nails like first and foremost all the time.

Well it's a big deal. These are storylines. I love storylines. Exciting. I thought it was a exciting day.

For the right reasons, some of it for the wrong reasons. Had the early break away. A lot of crashes. Some of them sort of self-inflicted. I was also concerned just with the road furniture.

And we've talked a lot about this. This is a is a is a factor in cycling now with with. The race is being in Europe and you know having different strategies for managing traffic. When there isn't a bike race. I was we were watching the finale.

And I'm like, what just these constant dividers, dividers. And nobody's standing there or learning the riders. I'm like, this isn't, this isn't going to be a problem. Like my spidey sense was like, ensure enough. And yet that that was our eighth crash that we saw there.

We counted eight crashes. Yeah. I mean, I think that. Yeah. And normally there is an official or a police man or somebody.

Somebody with a flag and a whistle. And they're a whistle and they're in. And you think it looks silly, but you need it. Yeah. I mean, I would think especially in the last part of the race when everyone's going full on.

That was pretty dangerous coming into the finish.

You know what I think is also interesting is the average person would probably say,

Come on. I mean, you guys are in the middle of the race. You're totally focused. There's noise all around. Is that really going to help?

Like, are you going to hear that?

Are you going to see that?

You all know this. Like, it's, you become so focused on that. And so alert to that noise of a whistle and looking for a flag. It does help. I mean, it's a simple person there just. Well, in the fact that it's up higher.

And so when you're down in your drops and stuff coming into town, totally focused like you're saying, having someone standing up there making noise and everything. You see it through a peloton, not just not just a little sign on a post. I mean, and they knew it was dangerous. You wouldn't have put it on or put it on the post.

Yes, that's a shit list. Sorry. Oh, it's on. It is on Mars. Shitless.

I see it there. It's up. It's because Mars is so nice. Do you want to keep riders safe? I mean, I suppose, like, it wasn't uphill finish technically.

So that, you know, you could say, you know, that the riders potentially going slower and these impediments wouldn't be an issue. But, I mean, it's still, it's still an issue. But even coming into the finish, what was it? Two or three K to go.

There's road furniture. I know they're going uphill. But they're going mock gas. And there was a crash. Yep.

Yep. Like they're losing some henders there. They were going hard enough that that some riders lost time.

I think we talked a lot yesterday about Paula Blassey.

And perhaps this is, you know, and I also said yesterday, this is the type of finished on stage one that I would just hate. Just a right out of the gate and explosive stage. The potential to lose time, which is is not ideal. And she did it. She lost eight seconds.

I mean, Annabelle, we're getting into another big name. Lost, there were, there were time gaps. I thought, dimmy ballery looked great. I looked great. Pauline was there.

I thought, look, I thought she looked less great. But she stayed on the same time.

And it was the first day of the race.

I think it was the first day of the race. I think it was the first day of the race. I think it was the first day of the race. I think it was the second day of the race. I think it was the first day of the race.

I think it was the first day of the race. I think it was the first day of the race. I think it was the first day of the race. I think it was the first day of the race. I think it was the first day of the race.

I think it was the first day of the race. I think it was the first day of the race. If you were just looking as I was studying in the helicopter shot, you really... You can see the riders.

Maybe Pauline was sitting up. She said, "Look, I'm in this front group. I'm not going to win. I'm not going to get a time bonus. All I have to do is stay in context so I don't get to get to get off in this time." I think it looked good.

If I were... But Pauline knows that. She's not going to be a surprise to her. She's the big three that we talked about. We're all right there.

I'm sure they all looked around and saw Lorina Weebis and thought, "Oh." I was surprised when they sat up when Lorina Weebis makes this. They still had 600 or 800 meters to go.

I think the relationship was there and that was it for them. Yeah, they all looked each other. I felt like they started smoking cigarette. The Lance let's talk about your favorite jersey.

Which is the polka that you're... Yeah, we do have a story line. I don't want to... I'm not going to start nine days of me "Hey, this is a sweet story." This is where I'm going. Like, I'm going to park my...

My name is at my... my resistance to the polka that you're... Is that resistance to the polka that you're... Is that resistance? So there is a sweet story. So tell us a story and I am in full support of it.

Well, we have a young 24 year old French writer named Oceon. It's also a beautiful name, it's like Oceon. And she's on a tiny French team. One of the smallest teams at this race called La Petite Enterprise. Okay.

We need it now. Yeah, we need it now. We need it now for sure. But, you know, so she is donning the most... Like, you know, a famous jersey on a French team.

Yeah. I'm looking her up, you know, not a lot of results to mention. But she's out there in a break from basically kilometer zero. Give her take.

And she gets to wear jersey for a few days. Yeah.

And I think that's an incredible opportunity for a small French team.

Yeah, the podium ceremony. This is all on TV. This will be in La Petite tomorrow. Yeah. This is what they come into sport to do, right?

Not just the writers, but also the sponsors and the the entire team. So yeah. And you can see what it's doing for, you know, the young French up and coming generations because there wasn't many... There weren't many French writers for a lot of years who are doing very well.

And now, all of a sudden, you're seeing, you know, young girls coming up and doing better. And I think it's, and you have it's awesome. Yeah. Today's show brought to you by Pioneer Pastures. Yeah.

A2 cows.

I love these cows.

Look it up. I'm telling you, you don't believe me. I do love the cows. Also, our friends ride over the hill.

Honey, sting, or anybody who's gone out on long rides,

know that what you put in your gut really matters. Honey, sting has been fueling endurance athletes for over 25 years. I've been around with them for most of those 25 years. Real fuel, not candy dressed up as sports nutrition and they're right up the road.

And over the hill and steamboat springs.

But they're resting on their loyals and have just launched two new incredible products.

The electrolyte gels and the hundred milligrams caffeinated shoes. Hmm. And all of it's easy on the stomach. Three hours in. Then use the code, the move 25, the move 25% off at honeystinger.com/the move 25.

Boom. You were talking as we were watching the about, because we touched on this during the minzerase. And of course, there was so much discussion about Paul Césios being 19 years old, which was incredible and is incredible.

Youngest riders in 1937. But you had done some digging on the youngest rider in this race and the oldest rider. And then you have some other follow up there. Yeah, I'm not trying to like steal any of Spencer's thunder here. But you do know me well enough lands for like, I don't know 20 years.

And I am a big dork. Yeah. No, I know massive dork. I know. But I was diving in.

So we did watch Mavi Garcia.

She raises for you a win a stage last year. She had that horrific crash a couple of years ago during the tour. She won the stage last year at 41. She is raising this year at 42. So that is our oldest rider.

She Spanish lovely person. Our youngest rider is also 19. Weird, Paul Césios. And we've got Paula. Oh, Steve.

Also, she Spanish. And she raises for movie star. And so she won the juniors of Nationals for Spain. And then signed as a starsjar at movie star. Now, races there.

But then I diving in a little deeper.

So you were talking about this, too, because if you look, like, I think what was the stat.

How long Paul would wear the white jersey like seven years? Seven years. He's eligible for seven years. Seven years.

So the men's tour difference.

The tour difference of the men is you two five. So under 25 years old. So if you're race age is 25. The tour difference from a vex lift is you two three. So race age 23 years old.

So there are 26 eligible riders in the tour difference from a vex lift out of 147. And the tour difference fem of vex the men 41 riders out of 184 riders. 41 out of 180 or under 25. Wow. Yeah.

So that's 22.3% of the men's field is under 25 years old. And 17.7% of the women's field is under 23. So it's kind of hard to play with those numbers because we could start pulling in 20 under 25. But we're talking about the white jersey.

So I stuck with who's eligible to be considered the best young rider. And I don't know why in the women's it's under 23. Like under 23. I mean, it would be nice to have it the same as the men.

It doesn't really make any sense for the women to be younger than the men.

When women develop later than the women developed later or race at their best at a later age. And I mean, I suspect the women's race will go sooner than later. It will be you 23. It has to be. I would think.

I mean, that's what we taught. I mean, these guys are getting younger and younger. You know, I mean, that was a year or two ago. Ta-da. It's like, no.

Yeah, it's going to go. The women are leading the way. We are on this one. Boy, those han showed well. Damn.

Yeah. We're y'all were watching the race. I was looking at these houses along the lake. Yeah. You're going to buy us some next team.

Well, I did. I didn't say I'm buying one of those. I said I'll take one of those. I'm sure those those go for a few Swiss francs. But it was gorgeous.

I mean, I love it when I when a start or a finish town just shows off. That's why they come. You know, want to be a part of events like this and put Switzerland really one. It is. It's going to buy all accounts or buy what you said.

I don't know. National Swiss Day or this is July. There had been. It's hard to imagine Switzerland ever got. They've already.

Anyways, but they. Yeah, they were, they were a big winner. They, too. It's gorgeous. That's a traffic control thing.

They haven't. Maybe they need to work on that. But maybe like this was just assume everyone abides by the rules. Yeah. Olympic capital of the world.

It has last time I hosted a tour to France. Event the men's stage was July 9th, 2022. So the men have finished their recently. They did host of start of the women's sort of romantic. But they did a beautiful job, I thought.

And also you saw them pass that Olympic capital and that.

No, I don't know.

I mean, there's probably some really cool stuff. I mean, I don't know. Like Jesse Owens is shoes or something. You know, it would that would love to go tour that. And you still want the lake house.

Yeah. Short drive from my lake house. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

You want to dive into tomorrow? Or you got more. I do. By the way, my big RC has rode pretty well for 40, you know, we're going up 40, 42 years old. Like this is.

I want to also get silly racing. She's older than me. She was 12th on the day. She lost a few seconds. I think some of this stuff, too.

You get gapped off. There were crashes that crash at the end. Certainly could have gapped you off.

I think that Marlin's crash was pretty bad, too.

Like when you saw her go down on that curb. She flew over her teammate and hit on her hip.

And she's never had good luck at this at this race.

Yeah. Hopefully she's okay. Because she has a chance for that jersey after the time trial. Yeah. Let's look at stage two.

Okay. All right. Let me see here. What's our total, total vert? A little bit of a lumpy day, right?

And this. Ali is this. Is this, this intermediate sprint is actually time bonus sprint or nothing. No, that is just for this start yet. That's just for the green jersey.

So this is technically our flatest stage of the tour. So this is classified as a pure sprinter stage. So this is the one we thought is pure weaves. So I think tomorrow she has no problem. Charlotte the cool was my other pick for today.

So we're looking to some categorized climbs. Five categorized climbs all in the middle third. But they're not particularly sticky. I love how when when we we look at profiles or talk about courses and say this is considered the easiest stage or a true sprint stage. Look, I'm looking at the elevation gain.

So for you folks sitting at home who ride your bikes and whether you ride in.

In Texas, that matter where you ride, you're always I am always counting like vertical elevation and that sort of is one metric that I really look at.

You're still a 6,000 foot deck. You're not easy by any. So all you folks at home like I was a chill day. Okay, I want you to go pedal around climb 6,000 feet. Let me know how chill it is and then feel sprint at the end.

It's still lumpy. A lot. And the intermediate sprint is actually on an uphill. Who? It's on a kicker.

So I mean, if it will see how it is. There's no time bonus. No time bonus. So it's purely for the green jersey. Marina.

I feel like Marina is going for it. But what's what's interesting.

I think tomorrow, we do start from UCI's front door.

So, Marina just gets to show off her bike again. Maybe she has a different nail colors or uses specific expressions. No, she won't. She'll be great. I suppose they didn't ask about that at the finish.

And the interview, the official interview, they didn't ask about that. Take a point. She stayed at the Jero for several days and like feathered team. Like, and then she did a huge training block. I mean, she was going through some demons.

But the last climb tomorrow. Cress 47 kilometers from the line.

And what I think that we should look at and Lance, you're always better.

You and Mario better at this than I am. But the final 8k. It goes along the lake. The walk. And I'm thinking, I mean, the wind.

I looked at it this morning. You guys are usually a little better at that than me. But the wind, it could be when you're driving in 8k to go on the. Ideally on the course description. This is the most pure sprint we have.

Most pure. It's the straight. I mean, there's no turns. But but they're still going to. You're going to have some wind.

If you're going to have traffic furniture.

And possibly rancher. You could have wind. I haven't looked at the weather, but. But there's not, you know, there's no sharp corners. It just there's there's other factors.

Yes. Yeah, a lot of self. It caused a lot of their own issues to some of those. Some of those self. Yes.

And then there was the one, you know, 40k to go that just. A fairly national champion. Yeah. That was bizarre. We just crossed the wheel.

Well, look, I was trying to get something from the other side, like a model or something. Or a. And the other was over across other people. Yeah. And then she lost her front wheel.

Well, I do think. Um, Bullshakes. Very care of us. You know, everyone knows Dave Bullsh. So I think this is like.

Staple bounce. I don't hurt anybody. I thought you were going to give it to him. And I'm like, well, I feel like a homestick should go to Lorina. We've us.

Okay. To work talking. The first homestick. And I think it's well deserved. Making a climb.

That's a sprinters can't make it over. And this girl owned it. Waxed it.

Second leader's jersey.

And so far. Somebody's going to call in right now. And say, got taken away from her.

She is our first yellow jersey.

Wedder. So folks. Thanks to the rainbow we did. Six. You deserve it.

Move over the day. Move over the day too. First yellow jersey. Redemption story. Yeah.

Hello. Yeah. Yeah. We're a fan. Good job.

Like we did. And I didn't do a great job with the gesture. The previous show of making sure you guys have the number. So the call in number. There it is.

For the voice mouse call. Sleep is a voice mouse. Say whatever you want.

You know, may or may not play.

I can't. I would love to hear. I don't listen these things. It's my husband's personal phone night. Yeah.

Blaze is out fishing right now. He will probably not pick up. But you can try. 9707182736. Boy, that is the same numbers.

Is the other tour? Yeah. Okay. That's the same number. So there it is.

9707182736. We have a voice melt today. And then we'll. I don't know. We'll do two or three going forward.

All right. What have we got?

I think this is getting some California.

Been a long time fan of you. That's all. Allie and Martin. And was wondering what you guys think of who might be. With our course.

Page winners this year. Maybe one of the smaller teams. Like to hear your thoughts on that. I'm going to go. All right.

Go ahead. So we can say we were like, sour patch kids over here. Oh, Lance and I were more sour patch kids. Mario is like the equalizer. What sweet guy.

Um, are you? I mean, I don't know. No, I'm not. You know what I meant. Just go.

Okay. Give us a dark. Dark forces. I think what we can really be looking for. Is a Kristen falker.

Hmm. I see a good chance for her to win. I have a couple stages picked out for her later. Maybe a stage five or six. Zoe backstit.

Um, or my two fix that are going to be incredible.

Uh, finishes. Uh, those are my. I see that I see happening.

I think Allison Jackson always tries to get in a break.

So on those flatter stages or less hilly stages. I think, you know, if she gets in a break, there's a chance. And she's going to do everything she can to get in one for her new French team. So. And she was in between the field and the break today.

There was there was there was a couple Canadians kind of floating out there. I was going to say Kristen falker too. I think, um, I don't know. I haven't tracked it that closely. She's obviously coming off.

Uh, you know, a couple seasons ago of just incredible, incredible season. So, um, but also busy. Yeah. I know she's super busy. Yes, she should be right here.

Yeah. The big champion. Yeah. I'd love to see her. But she's got the nose like she's the nose for the reaner.

She always finds a way. I was all right. We talked about her yesterday. Gosh. My friend.

And I know this lady. My girl from last year, the two stage runs, the gods. - Yeah, yeah, squib, squib, squib, squib, I'm going with squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib, squib

Yeah, yeah, squibble, squibble, I'm going with squibble, I'm going with squibble, I'm just tired, I'm sorry, yeah. All right, we'll call and call us and leave us a voice mail for future episodes, of course you got now eight more days to do that. Anything else, ladies, we've covered tomorrow's stage. I did see a very funny, not a funny, but I saw, and I know this is going to be funny. I mean, no, so I saw this quote from, we're now she lost eight seconds, we were talking about Paul Blassey and wondering what the leadership is like on that team.

And they answered this morning and she said, well, I've got like two, like, sides of the coin. We don't know, I know what my role as I'm very clear on my role. I'm here for the experience, blah, blah, blah. She goes, the road speaks, but the roles are clear. I'll be here for them. I was like, oh, no, the road does speak. No, it does. I mean, the road sorts out these things and especially the road to Vantu.

Yeah, we will see. And I did hear that they might have to change that route, so we will fire the fires. We are going to have to stay updated. That's down, that's some scoop. Yeah, we're, um, I didn't want to really, because we're not going to know until Tuesday. So we're going to want it or whatever.

There are two ways to go up out to us. No, there are also two ways to go up to us, but that would be, okay, that's a, that's a big scoop. Yeah, that's too bad. Yeah. I mean, on every level, I guess. And we'll still be able to finish up on to, but it might make the stage easier, like flatter, leading into it or short in the stage.

So we're going to, and I think they make the final decision on August 4th.

So we'll, we'll keep a phrase to that. Yeah.

I don't know if that was our work.

They still have to go up, uh, Vantu from Malasan at the bottom.

That's, that's fine. Yeah.

That's not, that's like a matter.

Yeah. And I mean, if you have to go up a different side.

No, the fires in Europe and the heat, the heat wave over there is, is very, very serious.

By the way, I just checked whether Los Angeles going to be hot tomorrow, 90 degrees.

And we'll start this heat starts. I hear the heat coming back to Europe.

So all right, everybody. Thanks for tuning in. We will see tomorrow for stage two of the Tour de France Fam of ex-Wift. All right. See you tomorrow. Bye.
