This is trivia for kids, where it's not just for adults anymore. Hello, everyone!

We are so excited to bring you another fun and educational episode of trivia for kids.

The podcast, my name is Casey. My name is Bix. Brooks, what are you watching? The man's gold hockey game. He's watching the gold medal match between US and Canada, the hockey game.

We don't know who won. But it's tied up. Well, let's do some jokes, and then you can go see who gets the gold.

Our first joke comes from Dylan, who is 6, and is from Pekipsi, New York.

Thanks Dylan. What does Santa say when he scores in soccer? I don't know. Gooo! Ho-ho-ho!

You can see that in hockey too. Our next joke comes from Tegan, who is from New York. Thanks, Tegan. Knock, knock. Who's there?

Amnesia. And me, Juhu. I forgot. That's what amnesia is. When your brain loses memory, I forgot.

And our last joke comes from some Martha, who is from Melbourne, Australia. Show Mars. What do you call a sleeping dinosaur? I do not know. A dinosaur.

Do you dinosaur? Dad does. Dad does. That's funny. Thank you for the jokes, everybody.

All right, Brooks. You ready to go watch some hockey? Yes.

Ready to do some trivia first?

Let's go. Go. Get started. Here's how the show works. Traveyor for kids consists of five rounds with seven questions each.

We will announce the answers at the end of each round. Each new round will have a different category. After the fifth round, we will have the final exam, which will test you on the toughest questions. We have covered in the previous rounds.

Everyone ready? Let's get started. Round one, the category is Pokemon.

Question one, which Pokemon sleeps so much at blocks roads?

Slowpoke, Snorlax, or Kamala. Question two, which Pokemon is shaped like a star and has a glowing core? Star me? Star you, or Cosmog? Question three, which Pokemon sings opponents to sleep?

Weekly fairy, jiggly puff, or lapress? Question four, which Pokemon has three heads and runs fast? Dodrio, Hydragon, or Exegutor? Question five, what Pokemon type is EV before evolving?

Fairy, ground, or normal? Question six, which Pokemon has a shell that is actually another creature? Holder, Voltrob, or Slowbro?

Question seven, which Pokemon is made entirely of gas?

Gasly, Hunter, or Drifloon? And challenge, as of February 26, the most expensive Pokemon card ever sold is a PSA-10 graded Pikachu Illustrator, which was purchased by Logan Paul on July 22nd 2021. How much did it sell for? Fifty thousand dollars, five hundred thousand dollars, or five million dollars.

Answers to round number one, Question one, which Pokemon sleeps so much?

It blocks roads, Slowpoke, Snorlax, or Kamala, that's the answer, Snorlax is the heaviest known Pokemon species, often weighing over 1,000 pounds. It wakes up only to eat, and is commonly found in the way of trainers. A PokeFloot is required to wake it. That's a big Pokemon, 1,000 pounds?

Wow, no wonder it takes so much to wake him up. Question two, which Pokemon is shaped like a star and has a glowing core? Star me, star you, or Cosmog, Star me?

The answer is star you, star you center gem flashes when it's in danger.

Question three, which Pokemon sings opponents to sleep? Cleafairy, Jigglypuff, or Lapras? Jigglypuff? That is correct. Famously featured in anime, this balloon Pokemon uses its vocal cords to match the

brainwaves of a deep sleep, ensuring anyone who hears it becomes drowsy. Jigglypuff, if you would like to come over to my house in the middle of the night when I wake up, you would be welcome to put me back to sleep.

A great question four, which Pokemon has three heads and runs fast?

Dodrio, Hydragon, or Exegator. Dodrio, that's right, and each of its three heads has its own personality. I wonder if they get along.

If you have your own personality, you might not always get along with the head next to you.

I mean, we have three heads and you guys have your own personalities and do you always get along? No. Rarely. Question five, what type is EV before evolving?

Ferry, ground, or normal? Normal? EV is known for its ability to evolve into eight different types. Water, electric, fire, psychic, dark, grass, ice, and fairy. Wounder's, talented.

Question six, which Pokemon has a shell that is actually another creature?

Sheldor, Voltrob, or Slowbro. Sheldor? The answer is Slowbro. Slowbro is the primary Pokemon who's shell is actually another creature, specifically a Sheldor.

The Sheldor clamps onto a Slowbro's tail to trigger evolution, remaining attached to form the spiraled shell creature hybrid. So Sheldor is what attaches to the slowbro to evolve into something else. So it's sort of like a Hermit Crab, except they're both Pokemon. Sure.

Question seven, what Pokemon is made entirely of gas? Slee, Hunter, or Driftloon? Driftloon? The answer is, gasoline. Due to being made of gas, gasoline can easily be blown away by strong winds.

Parent challenge as a February 26th, the most expensive Pokemon card ever sold, is a PSA-10 graded Pikachu illustrator, which was purchased by Logan Paul on July 22nd 2021. How much did it sell for?

$50,500,000, or $5 million?

$5 million? That is correct! $5,275,000. This 1998 Japanese promo card is considered the holy grail of collecting with only one copy ever achieving a perfect PSA-10 graded.

Round two, the category is animals. All of today's animal questions come straight from our friends at Kids Discover, and I learned

Some wild things while prepping this round.

Reading through all of their animal articles felt like going on a mini safari, Kids Discover has been creating expert-reviewed educational content for more than 30 years, and every page is packed with pictures and facts that are so fun to learn. Teachers use it, homeschool families use it, and I use it, because I didn't have to double check a single thing like I do with my AI-generated questions.

Thanks, Kids Discover! Question one, true or false. Dogs have more taste buds than humans. Question two, what is the name of the layer of fat that is found beneath the skin of marine mammals, like whales, seals, and walruses?

Question three, what is the one thing that all birds have that other animals do not?

Question four, more than half of the world's animal species live where rain forests, deserts, or the Arctic. Question five, what is the name of an eagle's claws that help it grab prey on the ground or in water? Question six, what is the name of the opening on the top of a whale or dolphins head that

they use for breathing? Question seven, what do llamas do when they feel threatened or annoyed? Parent challenge, which animal is the largest member of the deer family?

Answer to the second round, question one true or false.

Dogs have more taste buds than humans.

It is false, humans have significantly more taste buds than dogs with roughly 9,000 compared

to a dog's 1700 to 2000, while dogs have a much weaker sense of taste, they compensate with a highly superior sense of smell. So dogs can smell way better than us, but we can taste way better than them. Question two, what is the name of the layer of fat that is found beneath the skin of marine mammals, like whales, seals, and walruses?

I don't know.

The answer is, blubber, blubber is vital for survival, insulating against cold water and

storing energy. Have you heard of blubber? It's basically just fat in animals that live in Arctic conditions like that living cold water. They have to have lots of blubber to help them stay warm.

Question three, what is the one thing that all birds have that other animals do not?

Beaks. The answer is, feathers. While other creatures may have wings, like bats and insects, or lay eggs, like reptiles

and fish, feathers are exclusive to birds, serving crucial functions for flight, insulation,

and water proofing. Question four, more than half of the world's animal species live where. Rain forests, deserts, or in the Arctic. Rain forest. You're right.

They live in rain forests. This is because it has a year-round mild climate. So animals can avoid harsh weather and have a constant food supply. Just nicer to live there. They don't have to deal with snow or excessive heat, and there's just more animals there

because of it. Question five, what is the name of an eagle's claws that help it grab prey on the ground or in water? Palins. Talins is correct and eagle's claws, especially adapted to grab, pierce and hold prey

on the ground or in water are called talins. These sharp curved keratin-based appendages are powered by immense leg strength, allowing eagles to grip with up to 400 to 1,000 pounds of pressure per square inch, particularly

When snatching fish from water.

Ouch!

Question six, what is the name of the opening on the top of a whale or dolphin's head

that they use for breathing? Belt. This is called a blowhole. It acts as a specialized nostril, allowing these marine mammals to breathe air quickly at the surface.

If one hole in dolphins and some whales and two in balean whales, some of the balean whales. Just a type of whale, but it has two blowholes like it we have two nostrils. That's cool.

Question seven, what do llamas do when they feel threatened or annoyed?

I don't know. They spit. A llama can spit green, partially digested food, 15 feet or more. Here in challenge, which animal is the largest member of the deer family? Out.

The answer is the moose. Adult moose stand about five to seven feet or 1.5 to 2.1 meters tall at their shoulder and way between 800 and 1600 pounds or 360 to 725 kilograms. The largest, the Alaskan Yukon subspecies can exceed 7 feet tall and way up to 1,800 pounds with bowl antlers spanning up to 6 feet across.

Do not mess with a moose. They are not pets.

I know that they don't really love people and they are very dangerous because they are

so, so massive. So if you ever see a moose in the wild or anywhere, just don't mess with it. Before we jump into round three, just a reminder that our weekly giveaway with kids discover is still going strong. If you haven't entered yet, now is the time.

Question one, what is the largest state in the United States by area?

Question two, what is the name of the major league baseball team in Houston? Question three, what is the main ingredient in guacamole?

Question four, what is the last name of the second and sixth presidents of the United States?

Question five, which car logo is four rings linked together? Question six, which band is famous for the songs, Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen? Cdc, Abba or Aerosmith. Question seven, what type of animal is Arthur in the cartoon, Arthur? Parent challenge, what is a word that has the opposite or nearly the opposite meaning of

another word? Round number three answers, question one, what is the largest state in the United States by area? Alaska? Alaska is correct, there's quite a few A-states, Alabama and Alaska Aerosona, Arkansas.

So you had Alabama, Alaska Aerosona, Arkansas, you had four choices, Alaska is huge it is like huge huge. You don't really notice how big Alaska is because it's not next to the lower 48 United States, but it is so big.

Yeah, and on maps, when they show a little picture of Alaska, they minimize i...

would fit on the map because of how much room it actually takes up.

You're totally right, so if you look at a map of the US, sometimes we have them on placemats or little, you know, rectangle things, and it'll be the US, but then it'll have Alaska and Hawaii kind of down in the corner. And they can't make Alaska as big as what it is because it would fill up such a big portion of the page, so they kind of make Alaska look little, but it is not.

Question two, what is the major league baseball team in Houston?

I'm not sure. They are the Astros, Houston Astros, question three, what is the main ingredient in guacamole? Avocado, avocado is correct. Ren and I love avocado. Yes.

Yes.

Question four, what is the last name of the second and sixth presidents of the United

States? Adams. John and John Quincy Adams is correct. They were father and son. Yeah.

They were. Oh. Question five, which car logo has four rings? Linked together. I wanted to sail in Bixford a little bit, it's called what to call it.

It is Audi, Audi, one of the two, but it has four linked rings in its logo. Question six, which band is famous for the songs? Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen. AC DC, Abba, or Erosma. Abba, Mamma Mia, it is Abba, they sing.

Song and Dancing Queen, it is Abba, I really like them. They are from Sweden and they're really good. I do love Abba. The whole musical of Mamma Mia is all Abba songs. So good.

Here it is. Yeah.

Question seven, what type of animal is Arthur in the cartoon, Arthur?

I just heard about this one, is he an artwork? He is an art-vark.

Art-vark is one of the first words in the dictionary.

Really? Because Art-vark starts with AA, it's way up in the front. AA-R-D, V-A-R-K, that was just AA-R. Nope. AA-R.

Parent challenge. What is a word that has the opposite or a nearly the opposite meaning of another word? Antonym. Antonym is correct. And the opposite of an antonym is a synonym.

A synonym. Meaning same. Antonym. Good job. Round four, the category is science.

These science questions were also inspired by kids' discovers huge library of STEM resources. I found myself going down one fascinating rabbit hole after another, get your brain warmed up. It's time for some science. Question one, true or false.

The biotics in medicine are used to fight viruses.

Question two, what is created when light cannot pass through an object?

Question three, even though Ben Franklin is one of the most known inventors ever. How many years did he attend school? Two years, five years or ten years. Question four, the start of a volcano starts in which layer of the earth.

The core, the mantle or the crust. Question five, what part of a tree is like its armor, which protects it from weather and being eaten by animals. Question six, when you roll a ball on a smooth floor, what force eventually slows it down and makes it stop?

Friction, gravity, or magnetism. Question seven, what do we call it when you hear a sound repeat because it is bounced back?

What challenge?

What do we call something when its atoms are unstable and give off energy to become more stable? Magnetic, radioactive, or conductive?

Answers to the fourth round, question one, true or false.

Antibiotics in medicine are used to fight viruses.

Yeah, the answer is no, oh my, the answer is false.

They are used to fight bacteria. They are completely ineffective against viral infections such as the common cold, influenza, or the flu, or COVID-19. Using antibiotics for viruses does not cure the illness and contributes to dangerous antibiotic resistance.

Wow, I thought that they were the same thing. So here's the difference between what bacteria is and what a virus is. And bacteria are living single-celled organisms that can survive independently while viruses are non-living much smaller entities that require a host cell to replicate. Vacteria are treated with antibiotics, but viruses are not.

Viruses are instead prevented with vaccines, or treated with antivirals. It's kind of confusing because they're both sicknesses. So something that you could treat with antibiotics would be like strep throat, pneumonia, wooping cough, food poisoning, those come from bacteria. But things like cold, flu, things like that, viruses, antibiotics don't do anything.

Is bacteria? Yeah. And not what? Yeah.

Wow, I've already learned so much in the first question.

Question two, what is created when light cannot pass through an object?

A shadow? A shadow is the answer. This occurs because the object blocks the path of light creating a space where the light cannot reach. How good are you at shadow puppets?

Oh, man, I cannot can do so many things. Yeah. Yeah. Everything and I can do it. A clown on a tight rope.

Oh, easy. Easy. No problem.

Question three, even though Ben Franklin is one of the most known inventors ever, how many

years did he attend school? Two years, five years or ten years, only two years is the answer. Ben Franklin only attended school for two years from approximately age eight to age ten. He attended the Boston Latin school and a private academy for writing and arithmetic before leaving to work in his father's candle shop.

Despite this limited formal education, he was a voracious reader who self-educated throughout his life. Wow. If you would not strive to be an education myself, I was just going to say, if you didn't

go to school, do you feel like you would self-educate?

No! Maybe you would. No! Question four, the start of a volcano starts in which layer of the earth, the core, the mantle, or the crust.

Starts in the mantle, go to the crust. It does start in the mantle, you are right. volcano starts in the upper mantle, where high temperatures and pressure create magma that rises through the crust. This molten rock collects in chambers in the lower crust before erupting through the surface.

Question five, what part of a tree is like its armor, which protects it from weather and being eaten by animals? Bark? Bark is right. This protective layer defends the tree against extreme weather.

Heat, cold, drought, prevents moisture loss, and shields against insects, disease, and animals. It serves as a durable, insulating barrier that protects the delicate living inner tissues. So Bark is sort of like, it's armor, like a night, like a night and shining bark from a tree in your yard. I don't know if parents leaving it that's on.

Question six, when you roll a ball on a smooth floor, what force, eventually, slow it down, and makes it stop. Friction, gravity, or magnetism. Are you just a good test about this today too? Um, if a ball is rolling on a smooth surface, there is a much friction, so that's not really

going to slow it down. I don't know. I'm just going to say, gravity. It's friction. No, it's not.

If it's a smooth surface, a surface may look perfectly smooth, however, if you look under a microscope, you would see tiny lumps and bumps that create friction. Then any two objects slide against each other. The more friction, the quicker it slows down, the less long it will roll. But I was on the right track.

You had it. No, I didn't have it. Every surface, regardless of how smooth, has some friction. Okay. Question seven, what do you call it when you hear a sound repeat because it is bounced back?

Echo echo echo echo.

So how an echo works is we make the sound and we hear it right away.

Then that same sound is reflected off of say a wall and then we hear it another time. So we hear it as it comes out and then as that sound travels and hits against something, it bounces off and comes back to our ear again. Mm-hmm. That's pretty sweet.

I think it's cool. Fair and challenge. What do we call something when its atoms are unstable and give off energy to become more stable? Netic, radioactive or conductive.

Radioactive. You're right. I pick this question because I have no idea what it means if something is radioactive. When its atoms are unstable and give off energy to become more stable, interesting. Round number five, the category is candy.

Question one, which candy bar shares a name with a very famous baseball player?

Question two, what type of chewing gum comes in a very long strip that is rolled up into a tight spiral? Question four, which candy's white mystery flavor is actually a mix of leftover flavors? Question five, which candy bar has a left and right version in its ads? Question six, which candy is known for being the candy you can wear?

Question seven, when life savers debuted their fruit variety in 1921, name one of the three original flavors it had. Parent challenge, what candy was once advertised as the fresh maker? Question five, what type of chewing gum comes in a very long strip of candy? Question one, which candy bar shares a name with a very famous baseball player?

A baby roof? Baby roof is the answer, but it's actually not named after him, it is named after President Cleveland's daughter, not a baby roof. Interesting.

Question two, what type of chewing gum comes in a very long strip?

A strip that is rolled up into a tight spiral?

The answer is bubble tape, you guys always get bubble tape every year where in our stocking.

In your Christmas stocking, Santa always brings bubble tape. Question three, what color is the outside of a classic Reese's peanut butter cup wrapper? Cool. The answer is orange, I bet I know why you didn't know the answer to that. How are kids do not like Reese's peanut butter cups?

Most people in the United States, that's probably top three guarantee, but none of you kids like Reese's peanut butter cups? I mean, they're okay. You or maybe are the only one who tolerates them, Quinn and Brooks wouldn't even touch them.

Reese's pieces, though, they're delicious, I'm not a huge peanut butter cup fan either, I bet people are gonna be like, what? Because it is a loved candy for sure, question four, which candies white mystery flavor is actually a mix of all the leftover flavors. Airheads is the answer, they don't add any coloring, so it just stays white.

I did not know this, I knew that in dumbdums the mystery flavors are like whatever's leftover in a batch mixed together, I did not know airheads did the same thing. Did you know that recently, I've gotten a few mystery dumbdums where it'd be like caramel and rupy or like grape and blue as beer, it's so good.

They should make those flavors, I got one that was peach and cherry, it was amazing.

So what you're saying is dumbdums should take some of their mystery flavors and turn them into real flavors.

Yes, question five, which candy bar has a left and right version in its ads?

Quick! Twix is correct, do you prefer the left or the right?

Is there a difference?

No!

But they just marketed it that way to make people, I don't know, think there was or something

but in America, if they sell twix in an individual wrapper, it'll say like left or right on it, even though they're exactly the same thing.

Question six, which candy is known for being the candy you can wear?

Ring pops? Ring pops is correct, I would also accept candy necklaces or candy bracelets because we have those two. Those are delicious. But ring pops is what I was going for.

Do you ever put on a ring pop and pretend like, "Oh, I'm getting married!" You two, but the only problem was, I'd suck in it like so much and then like drooled get on my hand, get on my hand. Then you're engagement ring would make your hand all sticky? Oh no, question seven, when life savers debuted their fruit variety in 1921.

Name one of the three original flavors it had. Lime? Lime is one of them you could have said orange, lemon, or lime. Shortly after these flavors came out, additional flavors such as any set, butter, rum, cola, and root beer were introduced in that early 1920s period.

The flavor, Anis, or Anis is like a licorice flavor, I don't feel like I would have liked that one. I've had butter, rum, lifesavers, they're good, I remember having those as a kid. I have one in my backpack, you don't try it?

You have a butter, rum, lifesaver, why, where did it come from?

My math teacher, he hands out candy sometimes and there was just butter, rum. And everyone was like, try it and then they just spit in the garbage. You have the coolest math teacher, he is a great one. Go get it, let's see if we like it, have you tried it? I have, I think it's absolutely disgusting, I believe this flavor is butter, rum.

Would you look at this, I didn't even know you could still buy butter, rum, all right. You've had it, you didn't love it. No. All right, I'm going to try it right now, it is sort of like a brown, I don't know if I had to take a guess, it looks like cream soda, but let's see, oh, yep, this is the flavor

I remember. Those were disgusting. Do I want to get some more? No, because I'll eat them. It's like butter scotch with a electric kick, I don't know how to describe it.

What are the odds you just had one of these in your backpack?

Thank you for sharing. You're welcome. Hey, we're in challenge. I'm going to try to imprint challenge with this in my mouth. What candy was once advertised as the fresh maker?

Mint.

The answer is Mentos, the fresh maker.

The slogan became famous in the 1990s, so they would show a commercial and it was like people doing something and then somebody would like take a mentos and pop it in their mouth and then they would take it in, they would say Mentos, the fresh maker and the person would hold up the stack of mentos like in front of the camera and smile and be like, this is awesome.

And now it's time for the final exam. Now remember, you've heard these questions in the previous rounds, but these were the hardest ones we've had, so use your memory and try to think back to what the answers are. Question 1. What is the name of the layer of fat that is found beneath the skin of marine animals like

whales, seals, and waluses? Blubber Question 2. When you roll a ball on a smooth floor, what force eventually slows it down? And makes it stop. Friction Question 3.

What type of animal is Arthur in the cartoon Arthur? Ardvark Question 4. More than half of the world's animal species live where? Rain forests Question 5. What is the name of an eagle's claws that help it grab prey on the ground or in water?

Talons Question 6. When lifesavers debuted their fruit variety in 1921, what were the three original flavors it had? Lemon and lime Question 7. The start of a volcano starts in which layer of the Earth.

And here is your conversation starter. If you could only wear one color of clothing for the rest of your life, what color would you wear? Black! Me too! Actually, it's black! Because it already overtakes mostly everything in my closet. Black's easy to match with, and you can wear a black and black. Right, too. Yeah, gray would work. White would be tough, especially when your skin is as white as

ours is right now in winter. We would look like a ghost. Yeah, thanks for listening to the trivia for kids podcast. If you haven't done so already, please give us a five-star review.
