I am unashamed.

He had this big, you know, hole in his heart because I hadn't told him I love him. Yeah, he shared that on the bike. Yeah, I know he was kidding or not. So after the podcast, everything was so thick with sarcasm Joe. I didn't know who was being true, but at the end of the day,

he took the challenge. Well, in private, a private phone conversation, we were talking about something else. But I like sarcasticly said, "Love you, cousin." But he took it as a win and then shared it on the bike. He said, "He said he's a little lonely."

He said, "It's like his 80% sarcasm Joe." He said, "Well, it was more like man." That is so funny, Joe. That was funny.

Well, it's funny. I always know who he's talking to.

Like he has a voice when he's talking to Jason. There's a certain voice we's talking to you out. Like he has a personality for who he's talking to. Yeah. His dad, Melissa, like I can know who he's talking to, just by the tone.

Yeah. Like not here in the other person, but by here in his tone. I know.

Was that a nice way of saying Zach has multiple personalities?

Because that would make more sense to me right now. Yeah. Well, he's multifaceted for sure. He's got his business act. There's Bibles act.

There's a ministries act. He does have some, and all the different forms, I guess, you know. That's true. And he probably saw it seeing a lot more. So if you're just joining us, you realize that.

You just came in on our conversation. Zach, no show. But. Ow. He didn't call me.

No, he called me. He called you. And said, but I got good news. Sending a better version of. It's exactly what he said.

So, Jill, welcome back to Unashamed. Thank you.

I was always glad to be here.

So we won't. We had the ladies own a few podcasts back, Jill. And I don't know how these drops, so that may not have been mapped into it. But I wanted you on as well, because our audience loves it. When you guys are here to sort of counterweight the men, because they hear from us.

You know, 90% of the time. So, they enjoy that. And they want to do in a couple of podcasts. But you were traveling, right? Because your kids are doing that.

Yes. I'm an official groupie. I feel like right now for Dash of the band. I should have worn my t-shirt. You kind of got to text his look there today.

That's right. You know, just following them around. And that was actually the first show. I was going to get to see on their tour. And so I was already in Atlanta.

I hated it because I love to join with the with the deck ladies. But so that was that was your proud of your kids. I'm sure all that Zack said they did amazing. Yes. To this about the little Jesus on.

They threw in there right in the middle of it. He said it was incredible. It's so cool. I mean, I'm so I am. I'm super proud of them.

When they sing that song. It's interesting because Max does a little line before they go into that song. And he says, you know, we were storytellers. And we tell a lot of stories. But I can't not tell you the greatest story.

And he says, what makes this story so great is that it's true. And then they lead into that song where you there. When they like, now they're on the cross. Put them in the grave. And then where you there when you rose up.

And it's pretty powerful. And you have this word. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. What are you singing? But Jesus willing to try. So, you know, well, we're at the time of the time. I mean, a singing and a biblical sing and make music in your heart.

Yeah.

I think that's another reason he words it that way.

Yeah. May not be to your ears. Yeah. Well, size the perfect example of that. So I love to sing.

Size is going to join us at some point. We're just so you know, he's going to come bust an end here in a minute. Willy style. Well, he is actually joining us. I don't think we've ever had.

This is almost like a band. Me and you and size in Jill. And Jill. Yeah. We've ever been together.

No, not this part. No, this part. No. We've never talked. We will be breaking new ground.

I don't understand today with the voices that we have. So I'm excited about that.

We always know size is going to be, you know, energetic.

And then, Jill is like, I was said this to the day, Jill. It's like the kids success. I told Zach, I said the humility of watching them. The last, I made me two years ago. We were up there.

Well, it was probably for that. I don't know how long Max has been in college. But it was before that.

I think I think he was still like a senior in high school.

But he was playing at this little place.

Kind of down the hill for more.

We stayed when we come up to blackmail. And just in there was a guitar player to I didn't even know he was there. You know, and he was playing and then he was out carrying his little thing with a few tips in there. And he was just singing his songs and over there in the corner.

And there's like six people in the thing, you know, in this little restaurant area. And I thought, you know, that's just paying your dues.

Like, that's how you, before you can ever go on the stage,

or Larry Fleet or get out there, go to American Idol and all the different stuff they've done since then. To me, he's obviously got talent in ability. But you know, he's got to go play music and sing. You know, to be able to get those opportunities.

So that's what I've loved about your kids. They've been doing that since they were a little, I mean, young, right? Yeah, I think seven years old was about when they first started picking up an instrument. And just they just loved it.

It was never one of those things we forced them to do or made on practice or anything like that.

They just really love doing it. And so seeing them all those years and it's funny. You talk about paying your dues. I mean, they're still doing that now. They, you know, they, they run their own merch table.

They're pulling in all their instruments. They're, you know, they're not riding on the big bus. They're driving their little truck with the trailer tattoo. I mean, it's, it's there. They're just making their scrappy.

But they're making it happen. So to me is, that is when you're winning everybody. Thanks for your trying to climb. Yeah, some mountain or whatever. And, but I just remember even the early days of duck commander and all that.

I'm going to look back on it. This, this was it. The journey that you're doing together in scrapping. That, that is, that is you.

Well, that's what, and the reason I brought that up, Jill, that's the word I use for you.

You're, you're a scrappy scrappy lady. Because, you know, you, you give it back to, which I love because the dashers. I mean, let's face it. That, that is one hard hit a group of people. I mean, like, they're my cousins.

I love her. Members. They're, they all got a streak in them. Don't they, Jill? I mean, they do.

You've got to learn to jump in their quick. Are you just, are you guys wild? Oh, it all goes back to our childhood. All the aunts and uncles. And it was just one huge argument every day.

And when, when Janet Gordon would come and see us because they would come for like, you know, a few days, like it Thanksgiving or Christmas every year. And I mean, the argument started as soon as they hit the door. It was usually biblical. And sometimes it wasn't argument like we're saying it was all bad.

It was like, everybody was excited about some new thing. They had just learned. So a lot of times it would just that kind of stuff.

But it always wound up using with other uncles coming in,

Mike or Harold would come in and he'd have his take.

And then they get to go in back and forth. A lot is with four. Yeah, but it would be different. But it would be different people every time. To be true.

Yeah, who's taking a side and what? There was a podcast happening long before this podcast happened. It just wasn't being. It was a little bit of like side duck call room podcasting. What we do here.

It was a little bit of all that stuff kind of rolling. With a little more energy even than size podcast. I mean, the boy, they would make points. I mean, voices would be rage. I was like, you put Jan in a room and talking about the Bible.

And she's going to get passionate. And then Gordon can never let anything go. So, you know, he's every statement that's made. It's the next hook for the next thing we're Gordon.

That's the way you always say.

He can't just let something go. Somebody says like a off end to comment. Oh, he's we're going to deal with that. We're going to talk about that. In a jail.

His way does. And so there's a little bit of that sprinkled through all the kids. I was so, Grant is the hardest line to me. But Zach's pretty, pretty brutal. And the Melissa can go either way.

She's like an alliance. One way or the other. So I was always closest to Melissa. Yeah. I mean, she live with us first.

And she live with us too. A few points there or whatever. But we offered. And Missy was like, why are you? Why are you making this offer?

And I was like, because I really love. Love her. Yeah. I said, just. I was something about her.

So because she went to college here. And so like, she, she was spent a lot more time with us. Yeah. But what I was going to say is, I don't know if you knew this. During duck season.

So when Zach, he, you know, because deep down, I've known. He's always wanted to be like a man's man. Yeah. He, he told about some fish and trippy well. He thought where he thought where in the work boots would do it.

Yeah. Yeah. They couldn't even catch any fish. You know, for two or three days, which was embarrassing. I'm like, but anyway.

So I storms as that came. And he brought bear. And he hunted with us.

How old were 17, 18?

17. Yeah.

And so somewhere in those couple days, because, you know, when the electricity goes out,

there's an ice storm. And you just, you kind of see the soul of a man. We're out there. In conditions that are rough. Yeah.

And you're one tree falling away from not being here anymore. Exactly. So we just had a really good conversation one day. Because Zach got, I think, a little bit overwhelmed. And because he had to take a trip to Walmart after two or three days.

I mean, he brave the roads. Go to Walmart. [LAUGHTER] He does not like to be cage-dead. Let me just tell you.

He starts getting panicky. [MUSIC PLAYING]

So I've got the best gift that you need to buy for somebody.

And if you get kids, you need to get this. To new book by Tim Teebo, called If The Tree Could Speak. And the reason why I love it so much, we all know the story of the cross. We've heard it since we were kids. But what if you could hear it from a totally different perspective?

How would that affect you today? That's actually the idea behind a new book from our good friend, Tim Teebo, about if the tree could speak. And what it does is it walks you through Jesus's crucifixion from the perspective of the cross, which would have been the closest witness to the events that day.

So I mean, I'm telling you it's powerful. You guys have been reading it. How you've read it, what you think? I mean, I don't think it's just for kids. I think it's a great conversation starter.

And the idea of the tree being the closest witness to Jesus is brilliant. And it's really, really well done. You know, it's beautifully illustrated. It's well written. It makes you slow down and really feel the weight of what Jesus did for us. So even if you've heard the Easter story of thousand times,

this is this one right here. It's going to change you and it's going to deepen your faith. What you'll get from this book will stick with you long after you put it down. And you'll want to pick it up every single year to prepare for your celebration of Easter.

So here's what you need to do.

Step inside the story. Hear the witness and experience Easter like never before. Check out Tim Teebo's new book. If the tree could speak on Amazon, that's if the tree could speak about Tim Teebo. Order your copy today on Amazon.

I promise you you won't regret it. I don't know if we ever discussed that argument. But because I was like, "Well, where's that?" And he's like, "Oh, he is." Because I went to go look for a downed-up which I found.

But it took me an hour. And I went and got back. Zach and Jay were gone. And I said, "What happened?"

And I said, "I think they just got tired of it."

We had been there for days. And it was cold. No, shout out. Staying in the dark in there. They had to build a fire just to see each other.

And whoever I was getting this information from hurt. Early. He said, "Was I?" He said, "He just felt the need to go to Walmart." Just a glimpse of civilization.

Did he ever come back? Was that it? I never saw him again. Last hour hurt, he was headed to Walmart. And the next time I saw him, he was like a week later. He assumed.

My cat. So just didn't go well for him. He just had to get out. He said it was a bonding moment for him. Barry felt good about that.

Oh, I see. I told this whole story because I asked him a question. I haven't shared this. Ooh, here we go. I said, because I was breaking news.

And how transparent Barry was. Now, you know, it's different when, I mean, yours, mom. So I may be, this may not be his normal personality. But I mean, the boy just buried his soul. And he asked really good questions.

And we, I mean, what do you do in a dark line when you're just sitting there?

Yeah. And I thought it. I was just really impressed with him. But I had to ask him, I said, okay, let me. You've been on the earth 17 years.

I said, so when you got in trouble, who were you most scared of? Your mom or your dad? I mean, I was being nosey. I hope I can share this. Hey, he's so, yeah.

Oh, yeah. He's a Haitian. He said, you don't mess with my mom. He's right. He's true.

We were talking about this the other day. And this is the truth.

Here's the thing about me.

It takes me a while to get there. I'm pretty patient. I'm, it takes me a while to get there. I can hang. I can, but when you get me there?

Yeah. I'm not holding anything back. And that's true. That's true. That is so funny.

You said that. Because that's what he described. He said, you know, I've seen he's loving and she's patient. He said, there's a point where the volcano is erupts. And you don't want to be anywhere around.

And is it fair to say, Jill, that bear out of all your children?

Probably has gotten you there more than the, you need the fire.

Is that fair?

Or is there somebody else's presence more?

Well, you know, we kind of had a moment this morning. So it just so happens that I'm going to say, yes, to that question. Me just knowing your kids the way I do. It seems like a bear has had a lot of opportunities. Well, I only had one in doubt conversation.

But Jill, I'm telling you that y'all did something right with that boy. And we're all on that journey.

I've never been 17, but deep down you just can't make up the things he said.

I think he's got a good, good heart. Hey, dad, he's a, he's an awesome kid. I let his passion. I'm just, I'm excited to see what God's going to do with them. But he's a great kid.

Something great. I definitely think that myself because he's, he's also very bold. And you don't see that a lot in young people. He, well, he does not shy away from his opinions, his politics, all of it. And he'll talk about it with anybody and everybody.

And you just don't see that very often in a teenage kid. So I've chose that before Jill.

I love all your kids for all different reasons.

Of course, Max is my favorite because he's an LSU fan, of course. But, but I love him all. And they all just have something unique. And now you guys are kind of getting to do it the fifth time through with the, with the little Ruth, which is, and she's just, you know,

her whole story and everything about that. And course Jason, Missy of a similar thing, not exactly the same, but similar again, where you get this chance later in life to be a blessing that you didn't know. Or get a blessing, I guess, you didn't know you would ever get. I mean, you're just thinking grandkids or whatever.

So both of y'all have jumped into situations that just, you know, for me sitting here with you, walking alongside you. I mean, it's, it's very humbling what you guys have done. And, and very moving to those of us, you know, around you too. So it's not easy, but it's good, right?

Very, very good. We can't imagine life without Little Ruthy. Exactly. Well, Missy shared that story last time she was on. She was like, about when they're, when, when God knocks on your door.

And it's like, here you go. Yeah. And her response, which was very transparent.

And I hadn't ever heard her share that, but she was like, are you sure?

I mean, is there not someone else who can answer this? Because it is an emotional roller coaster. But I think when you're, you're out there talking about, we're all made in the image of God. And you realize this problem in our society where there are kids being born with no one to fight for. Right. And it just, there's, there's something life changing about being involved in that process.

Yeah.

Well, and we've been, Joe, just so you know, we've been studying in, first Sean.

And we're in the section, we're about to head into this section about the love of God. But we've been talking about this very thing about what, what does, you know, what does faith look like? I can you tell, you know, how do you know the spirit of God is in people? And one of the things you see is the kind of the cycle that John keeps circling through as he gets here. And I think, Joe, it's the last time, I was trying to think where we left.

Hard to know. It is hard to know.

I think we read the last podcast that I think we did 16 through 20, which was this idea, which made me think about when you were talking about that love is action, right?

He said, that's what it looks like. And even talks about helping those who can help themselves or seeing someone in need, you know, how, what's your response to that, which is kind of what you guys were just describing. And then at the end of the section of verse 24, because to give us the chapter four, it says, those who obey as commands live in him and he and them. And this is how we know that he lives in us. That's where we were talking about last time. Maybe we were talking about the in us and in him. We know it by the spirit he gave us.

And who literally lives inside of us and bears this fruit. And then the fruit comes out through us. And so he's saying, this is how you know who people are, is the fruit you see from their life, right? And that's exactly what we want to do. And that becomes in and of itself its own test.

Well, I thought about before we even get into that. That verse 19 and 20. I thought about this this past weekend, whatever reason. But when it says this then, because we call this children, which is kind of how he starts the whole chapter. He's done it multiple times. Yeah. And he's like, that is what we are, you know, children of God.

It starts all the way back in 28 of chapter two.

Now, dear children continue in him.

notice that we should be called children of God.

And that is what we are. And so here again, he brings dear children in verse 18 of chapter three. Dear children, let us not love with words or tumble with actions. And then it says this then is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us.

For God is greater than our hearts. He knows everything. So I saw that word greater because he's going to say that two more times in the rest of the book.

The other one is I think the most probably famous verse in first John, where it says the one in us

is greater than the one that's in the world. Yeah. We're exactly as that. That's in verse four of chapter four. Yeah.

And he says it's somewhere else in chapter five.

He says, just how God is greater.

I can look it up real quick. Yeah, that's it. Yeah. And the water and the blood and these three are great. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater.

For this is the testimony of God that he has been born concerning his son. And I guess in my mind, I was thinking, we were talking about our kids and having this new one. And I know you all have the same experience with the roots. But I just remember how Matthew flowed. And this is the way I thought you went when when Jesus was going to be born.

There's a couple of passages that he's going to be great. And I guess how I was looking at that word, this he's making a point saying he's greater than our hearts. Because we're condemning ourselves and why. Because we talked about what that word "rest" meant than the last podcast. Remember the ideal was it wasn't "rest" like we're some kind of supernatural vacation.

It's rest in the fact we don't have to try to do this ourselves. Yeah.

You know, that's what the rest is from because all we get is condemnation, right?

We try to do it ourselves. Yeah. Come on inside. We've been waiting for time out. We've been waiting on time.

We started talking about greatness. And saw showed up. Was that a sign? Not sure if you guys have noticed lately. But the price of gas groceries eating out everything has skyrocketed.

You're spending the money anyway. So you might as well earn a little cash back. Every time you fill up or go on a grocery run or maybe a date night out. And that's why I used the upside app. And I just got back from my solid week on the road.

And so a part of that included buying gas, part of that was eating out. Yeah.

The free upside app gets your cash back on groceries, gas, dining over 100,000 participating

locations. But you're going to find offers and places that you're already going to.

Users are in $1 million in cash back every single week and unlike other programs.

You can stack upside with your existing credit card and low to reward programs. So I look. I use it when every time I fill up with diesel, I'll get on the app. I can look at it in my truck. I mean, it's probably $26.27 savings that I get back in the form of cash.

The app is super easy to use. And, you know, for me, like I just put that money back in the date night. So everybody's happy. Upside's actually given back $1 billion to its users. I mean, this is no joke.

If I know how much you could earn download the free upside app. It's free for you. Use our promo code on a shame to get an extra 25 cents back for every gallon on your first take a gas. You've seen promo code on a shame.

We have now been joined by everybody's favorite Uncle in America, Uncle Sa. Jill's still with us. Trumpings Act from Carolina. So it's good to have you back. So you've been over there.

You've been yelling at the.com room, guys. Yeah. Please don't have podcasts and run a little over there. So before we get back to this text, because we're talking about greater. And you walked in, which Jason, like Jason, it was the sign.

But there was a last night whenever, because you're living now close to our neighborhood. Talk about it temporarily. And so Anna was coming by with Mom to come to my house. And I guess they saw you out there, whatever they stopped. I don't know.

She stopped coming in. Okay. I got K on here. So if you hadn't seen Mom in a minute. No, I ain't seen her for quite quite a while. So they, they, she snapped up a picture of you guys.

And it just, I thought it was really pretty, because you're holding Mom's hand.

No, no.

Yeah. I had seen her for a while.

And I told her, I said, don't you actually look pretty good, okay?

She is. She's well. I'm, I'm doing all right. You know, nice well. You know, if you set up my house.

I came in with what was your house to do with the, oh, yeah. She's a well. I got to be real careful with my fall. And I said, okay, look, we're all doing that. I said, everybody around is joins getting home.

You know, I said, so yeah, I've got to be careful. Christine's got to be careful. Well, it was neat. I thought it was good, because you know, I'll through the show. We talked about your relationship with Mom and Dad.

And you were always the third wheel in the,

Well, I, you dated Mom just like that except, you know, you were with Mom, but you were with them. Yeah. I actually, you know, Kate was 14 when Phil started dating her. I was, I was with her and like when they went on the first date.

I never forget. Mom said, you're going with them and Phil's to what? I'm going on a date for crying out loud. Yeah. I think she's a, she's a granny new feel.

Yeah. She should, hey, you're more than you. I wish you to hug around.

Maybe I, maybe I wouldn't have come so soon.

So, you know, somewhere along the line they ditched you. Because then I came into the picture. Let's see. And that, that would happen. We wouldn't even be here under my regime.

Because I wouldn't let any of my kids date till they were 16. Well, there's a, in the, in the movie, that's right. In the movie, they, they, they show that scene. It, not probably exactly, I could happen.

But we're, you're there as the third wheel.

Which I thought was really good. In Jay's, I saw, we, we were filming the movie about Lisa and I, in the director was here a couple of days ago, and she showed me a little clip of a scene. Where I come in, I'm lying. This is during my particle, you know, some deal.

And I'm lying. But Jay's knows. And I didn't know that I forgot this was in the script. So, as I just come in, I'm like, that's questioning me about where I'm being. And I'm lying, you know, about it.

And as I'm walking away, Jay's comes up. That's not where you were. Yeah. And I looked at him. I gave him light to lunch.

Don't make me. It was so much. And in fact, I was telling the director, I said, in real life, I would have grabbed him out of throat probably and threatened him. You know, it's just summed up a lot of five year period of my life. That process repeated itself.

Well, it all because with your dad and all that during the years that he was running wild, you know, you all had a pretty scary life. Oh, we did. Yeah, thank you. Yeah.

Yeah. Got that kind of thing. Kate felt better if one I was with him. Yeah. That didn't change that thing.

Right. All the day was put. Yeah. Which again was the I thought they did a good job in the movie of showing you in that spot. And it was, that's hard.

It's about to be in. Jay's was on a horse by with me, because when somebody's lying, which is right back to this text and somebody's lying and not living right and trying to cover it up. And you know better, but other people are hoodwined. That's a hard place to be, you know.

To me, it was because you lied to the person. It's like now me trying to convince somebody there's a God. You know what? What? Why would I make this up?

I mean, I look around. I mean, that's the way I felt during that time. Because I'd go to my mom and dad and say, look. As soon as he gets out of your presence, every other word is foul.

They're buying multiple drinks. They're talking about doing things with women. I know are not right. And they just wouldn't believe it. And it just was so frustrating to me.

Well, no, no, because I tell people all the time when they have to look. I said, you're not totally anybody. Yeah. Well, he was full in mom and dad. You think you're getting away with all this stuff.

And welcome. I said, hey, you're not. I said, most people know. Okay, and I said in the warm up there, he's to each every time. Because he's everywhere.

Exactly. Well, maybe that's why I would say because you know what they do to snitch isn't prison. They get stitches. Yeah. That's what was happening to me.

No. I was like, he's stuck under the control of the evil on and every time I see him. And I was abused in days. I get a beating. You were your friends.

I know. The girlfriends would beat him too. No, it was a bad deal. That's a bad deal. That's not bad to apologize.

But look, here's the thing.

You're right about one thing.

So here's the way I put it when I tell this part of my life is when you're a double secret agent.

Sooner later, you got to pick a side. Because it gets to the point where you can't hide anymore. Well, here's the thing about lying. You lie so much. You forget what you said.

That's right. Y'all and you put your foot because when you said I asked you, where was that? And you said three, the first y'all, three, eight, ten.

Yeah.

That's a profound statement right here.

My little children. That's not love and word are in tongue. But indeed. And then truth. Yeah.

That's exactly what we were. That's a profound state. That's right. Honestly. You know what?

You know what?

I found y'all going to find this interesting.

Somewhere in Zagnacht, Common, and may not sure if we were going to have the podcast. Then we had it an hour after we were supposed to. Somewhere in that process, I'm blaming it all on y'all. Because that's another thing we do when sand happens. That's rubbish.

It's a shame. That's a shame. That's a shame. I'm getting that from Adam. You remember?

I mean, he's quote poetry.

Yeah. Oh, she's flowing from my foot, bones of my bones. And then as soon as that sand happened, what? There's a woman you gave me. Look at this woman.

Everything was fun. I don't want her. Me, you and the animals. We were going through singing. You took one of my ribs.

I mean, like, this is what I get right there. And look, I don't know what happened. Well, anyway, it was been the morning. I've had a lot of talk about that when we had women. That was awesome.

Hey, look. It's your fault. Okay. You made her. And then he made you.

And he made you so irresistible. He made you so irresistible. He gave her ran hair to show you a sign right there. Yeah, danger. Danger.

Yeah, she's mean. I do think it's important to note here, gentlemen, that God does say it before sin existed. Don't you remember this? Before sin was in the world.

God said it.

He said the only thing he said that wasn't good

was that it's not good for man to be alive. Everything he created was good. Everything was good. But before sin existed, he said, no. It's not good for man to be alive.

Which is the true part. Bear was that. We've concluded now that deal is a volcano. So don't be careful. We start to go out.

No, no, no, no. Look, I'm off. Can't be pushed to a point. Don't know. I was always there.

What about you in fact? No, no, no, no. But you. And I said, hey, look, I will draw the fact. 10 million.

Yeah. Then a book won't. Oh, that's it.

Because I got a chance to survive the 10 million.

Hey, she will talk. You're in the United States, aren't we? Yeah, you used to believe me. Look. I got a child jacked here.

So I had to borrow my dad's Bible because I forgot my Bible. Yeah, all the distraction. So I get it. He's blaming us for that too. I turned to the first John 3 and 4.

And because he writes in his Bible a lot underlines. Look, he just has one word above the caption. Summon up first John 2 and 3. You see what it is? Seeing.

He puts in with it. He's going to make some noise. Point. And I thought. Yep.

Yeah. Somewhere in there. I'm getting you on this, Phil, because what we just read, here was the point I was making, is that our hearts do condemn us. And we got a lot of sin going on.

And remember, this whole context to go back to my life, which we've done my earlier. It's not just ace in. We talk about that word and you mentioned Jayce in the Greek. It's practicing sin. In other words, it's, it's living the life and giving in to the flesh.

That's what we're talking about. Toma says use the pink pin as an example. Yeah. You're wallowing in there. Exactly.

So just, just so you know, that's what we're talking about going into.

Well, I was going to say that because this is hard to wrap your head around. Because he's like, well, in him, there's no sin. Right. So after the holiday craziness, the last thing I want to do is everything. Then we're, you know, we're trying to get back in the swing of things.

And then he goes on to say, "You want to know who's doing right, whoever's doing what's right, whoever's sending their of the devil." I mean, he's making these blanket statements. You remember he said, "If you claim to be without him," earlier he said, "You're a liar." "You're a liar."

"You're a liar." "You're a liar." "You're a liar." "But he said, "I write this so you won't see him." "You're like, "What if I do?"

So I think we're going, we read a verse and we're like, "Oh, oh."

And so I think when he gets down to this part and it's like, "When he says, "God is greater than our hearts." He boon a heart's good. And he used that word condemned, which I did a little Google search on it. It's only mentioned three or four times.

And the most famous one in my mind is Romans 8 1 because it says, "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." I'm like, "Ooh." And that's another, that's another, and truth. That's their profound statement.

Oh, is it ever? Okay, because we're pronged to sin. Yeah. Okay, well we're born in a sinful world. And just the repercussions of that.

Yeah. Everyone's contributing to what's happened in the world. We talked about it before we started our podcast. God put it because I was talking to you about it. I've been watching movies of Native Americans.

Most people don't realize that the Native American was always religious.

Yeah. The great spirit in this guy. Yeah. So people don't realize, you know, God put that in our heart. Yeah, it's good.

Yeah, I agree. Well, I think you just be in here looking around. How is this happening? You start asking questions. No matter what your cultural setting is or was,

because we're talking now going by thousands of years to some of the things you're describing. There was always that question about why am I here. What am I doing? Where am I going? Is there something beyond?

Is there? Why? Dad used to always say in the context you're talking about. He would say, why would you sneak into some place and steal something and do it at night? Stealthily.

Because you know it's wrong. That's exactly right.

So I mean, that sin has always been that evident and present in any culture because we're humans.

Well, yeah.

I think that's why he says, I think that's why in verse 21, he says,

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God. To your point side, you know, you know when you know when you know you're not living right. That's what you know. That's what you know. When they made their raids on other tribes, it was always that night.

Well, that's like with us, okay. Well, that's why I just been so they wouldn't see you coming. Yeah. Well, yeah. No.

That you did yourself to look good. Look if I would say his bad things have been at night. No, no. No, no. Like my mother told me, okay.

You know, when I was a teenager, she said, here's the thing. The people you run with, you're going to be known by what, what, how they are. Yeah. It's a great point. That's, that's again, the about the truth.

Okay.

And always for now, think about you.

You know, Jesus came down full of two things.

The truth and grace. Grace and truth. Yeah. Which is what this passage is about. And you're right about who you run with.

Jesus said there's many times in the podcast when he came to Christ. He realized he needed to be loaned with McQueen for a while. No, no, no, no. Right. This is a compliment.

For a period you had to, and I had to do this. This is a compliment to you. That's a teenager. You was weird. Yeah.

That's a good one. No, no. Exactly. He's still weird. No, no.

But I'm just saying. But you told your friends. You didn't have sex till you was married. Yeah. They told you they call you a liar.

They call me a lot of things. Oh, yeah. But I'm saying. And the truth was you didn't. I didn't.

Yo, here's the thing. That was a jealous of you.

That's what the bottom line was.

Okay.

You had your standard, which was Jesus's standard.

Yeah. At the time they didn't. Yeah, at the time it didn't seem as confident to I didn't seem as confident because they were like, oh, that's the dumbest thing. That's the craziest thing.

But I wanted to bring up Bargeal because I asked him. I was like, do you go to a public hospital or, you know, Chris, go. He said, oh, I got a public school.

And I said, so how many Jesus loving people have you encountered there?

And I'm not talking about playing church. Yeah. And he said, well, I got one. Oh, thank God. I wanted to skate you this.

Well, that's what I said. I said, well, Barge, look at the good side. I said, you have one more than idea. And that was true. I think it's the hardest place to live like Jesus because you're going to be alone.

Well, I've told this before. But I remember one of the times when I was in my period of time when I was not. I was with the wrong crowd. But thinking because I was fake, charging it that I was better than they were. That shows you how pride works.

Which is normal. Exactly.

And so here's what happened one time.

I was so offended. So my best friend, you know, who is my also my best, you know, Compatriate in this terrible lifestyle. His mom calls my mom and says, I'm not sure. It's good that our sons are hanging out and running together.

Because she tells mom that I'm a bad influence on him. So mom tells me this, well, I'm so offended because I was like, well, wait. You know, my mom, I'm like, I'm a fake Christian. That makes me better than him. He's not even trying to fake it.

I mean, that's how that's how convoluted you can get.

In a living life. This goes back to my point about greatness. This was where I was trying to get you back there. I really think this is profound because deep down we all want to be great. Yeah, look, we just think of our world.

I mean, think about the people's names who put great Alexander. Great. Great. Even hered in this story was called Hered the Great. Great.

We want greatness. We all the sports I do, the card play and competition. Oh, it's all about greatness. And I've seen man and I've been a part of it. We'll set around for two hours and argue about who is the greatest team,

because I'm putting up burrow and LSU and then the Indiana fans are trying to say that. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Now look at the stem. The fact that I'm devoting this much time to this shows you we have a problem in our own heart.

We want to be the greatest. And you think, well, how do we determine that? Because deep down we all want to be known. Just think of like social media now that everybody's dream now. They're dream job is just to get home.

Some kind of social media apparatus. Well, if you ask and become known and they'll pay you to do it.

If you ask at least two of my grandkids, what do you want to be when you grow up?

They say YouTube influencer. Well, exactly. But my other two points, because this is about identity is and everybody wants to be loved. Everybody wants to be loved. You walk in the rain.

You want people to, oh, I love this. Yeah. So this is what we perceive. And everybody wants to be fearless. If you can be or secure, you want to be unafraid.

Know what you're doing. To me, that defines greatness. If you're known and if you're loved and you're confident. You're fearless. Well, you've made it.

You're the greatest. The point about that is, okay, is that when you get talking religion, you know, the whole world is looking for something. And they don't even have no idea what they're looking for. And what they're looking for is God.

Because they've got the thing about being the greatest, all this stuff.

And you always fall short.

Because we were, we human and we live in a simple world. Yeah, which is why we're not a rest. Yeah, go ahead. Yes, I was going to say the things that you mentioned, Jason. It's so good.

Like we want to be great. We want to be known. And we want to be loved. Which are all the things. Or we want to be confident.

That confidence. Which are all the things that we actually get in Christ alone. Like he, we become great because he's greater. Yeah, that's where I was saying that. And so we get fullness of love.

The confidence that Christ offers, I mean,

it blows this faux confidence out of the water.

We live in this culture that talks about be confident.

Be confident. What they mean is just act like you've got it together. Yeah. When confidence in Christ is less, you can be weak. You can be at your lowest.

You can be falling completely apart and be confident in Christ because of his blood. Like, that's amazing. Well, while I just assumed that health insurance is one of those things. You just don't get the question. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that does not really align with how I want to lead my family.

And it was incredibly expensive. And that's when my family and I started looking into what's called Christian health care. Ministries CHM is a Christian alternative to health insurance that costs about half of the traditional marketplace plans. And we've definitely felt that in our monthly budget. But what really matters to me is that this is a nonprofit ministry.

So I'm not paying into some companies profit margin. I'm actually joining a community of believers who share in each other's medical burdens, financially, and also in prayer. There's also real freedom because we're not stuck in a limited network. We can choose the doctor or surgeon that we want.

The hospitals that actually make sense for us. CHM offers four flexible low-cost programs for every stage of life. And you can enroll or switch anytime without waiting on open enrollment. And with CHM's care solution, you get access to virtual visits, prescriptions, savings, surgery support, and much more.

At least when I went through our breast cancer. I mean, these guys really stepped in for us both in prayer and lifting us up. But also, financially, we couldn't have made it with that. So why limit yourself for no reason? Make this which today before getting locked into another insurance plan.

Start today by visiting CHMindustries.org/unishame and use promo code wellness for a 50% credit towards your first month.

That CHMindustries.org/unishame to use promo code wellness. Well, no, no. That's the greatest part of why I wanted you to ask me who's the greatest.

Okay, because Jesus is, that's why I follow him because, "Hey, look, he gives me his greatness."

Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Well, I want to give some Bible here, because I was making this point about Matthew. I thought it was early in Matthew, but Luke 1 is where it says when Jesus is born, he's going to be great. That's what it says.

And because it just was so consumed, even our whole political party on the right is make America great again. I mean, that word great. Look, it's appealing to everyone. So you think about what Jesus did and take, as you go along with Matthew, he gives the greatest constitution for spiritual people and the sermon on the Mount. Correct.

So it's not, and the disciples are sitting there listening. Probably taking notes. I know Matthew was because he wrote it down. And you're like, all that, you want to know what greatness is, and he just turns it upside down. I'm not talking about no killing, buddy. Don't even be mad at him.

And look, if they want to do you wrong, you know, let them do you wrong. And love them, even if they're your enemies, all these kind of things. Strikes in the face turn the other thing. Then he goes through all these parables as you move along. And he does all these miracles.

You get all the way to Matthew 18. So they've seen all this happen. So that you're thinking, okay, this guy is, he's great. And listen to this question. This is Matthew 18, verse one. I know what I do.

At that time, the disciples came to Jesus. So you know, they've been talking. Oh, this guy. Talking amongst themselves. Let's see. What can we ask him?

And listen to this question.

And they asked, who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

Can you hear the sigh from Jesus in the moment? No, he's not going to the scroll. They're not talking about him. They're not saying how obviously he's the king. No, let's see that goes back to him.

It had to be a, he is the greatest, but they were the reason.

Yeah, but they were the first.

He came to the king of kings and the Lord of Lord for crying out loud. But my point is, look, when you read that verse if our hearts don't condemn us, this is an example of your hearts trying to condemn you. You've seen all this, heard all the sermons, all the miracles. He's running for your face.

And you go to him and look, this is documented other places. Remember after he washed their feet, this is right before he dies. And guess what happens? An argument breaks up, breaks out on who's the greatest. Look, even to a point where another story,

they go get their mom of all people and say, go ask him if we can sit at the right and the legend,

Which is a little bit dry.

Which is why I don't know when Jesus called and son's a thunder.

If that was a joke, or if he should call a mama's boys or what,

but it was pretty fun. Man, you're getting my mom to go ask that. That's embarrassing, but even me saying that makes me say that, oh, I think I'm better than that. No, I'm not saying that, but I said all that to say of all things.

It gives you the proper context on why he looked around and got a toddler. Yes, sir. Just think about that. After all this has happened, you have the goal to come up and say, who's the greatest?

And so he's like, okay, and you can read his mind in this moment. And he gets a little kid and has the child, a little child stand up among them. And he said, I'll tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children,

you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And I think all this children language, none is using like God is lavish to us with this love. We are the children of God.

You got to quit thinking. Yeah. I'm the greatest. I'm the greatest. How can I be great?

Because you even see it in the religious world, people like our church are better than you, because we had 2100 meat, three servings. We had 12 servings, only. You know, we have whatever.

And I'm like, Mr. Hope Point. Get the little child. And we do that. Yeah. We think of ourselves more highly than we are.

Well, no, no, because, because, when if you ask, okay, you know, who's the greatest, your greatest leader or your greatest mentor?

And it always comes to one thing.

There's a God here not here. What have you watched that man do? I've watched him serve his whole life. It's always, it's never about him. Yeah.

It's always about those around him. Yeah. Well, that's what. That's what. Yeah.

That's why jail and I were bearing ourselves about this, you know, taking a kid that someone else has given birth to. Right. Because you're living out this illustration. Jesus just said this whole chapter is about protecting the one kid.

You know, he goes on to talk about the pair of the law sheep. In the context of having that kid in front of him. It's like, this is what you do. 99 of them are saying, but there's one. We're going to get this kid.

And we got to participate in that.

And I think that's why it's been so revolutionary in our life about humbling us.

And that's why the Bible says we are adopted as sons. I mean, if you think about the whole and an immunity of Christ, coming as the baby 30 years, we don't know anything about him. We got one scene from his life. You're to my humble.

I mean, humble beginnings. Then he does the three year ministry is doing amazing things, but I was a part of doing all those things. He keeps pointing back to the father. I mean, he said, he just go to the father, go to the father.

It's always, always somebody else. What the fact that the creative universe would become a kid? Yeah. Yeah. It's thought provoking.

Yeah. I think that's why even first John 3, the way it starts. See, see what kind of love the father has given to us that we should be called children of God and so we are. It's that like, like, think about it.

Like, remember, like, look, like, you are a child of God. He's not saying, see, you are great. He's saying, no, see, you are a child of God. Yeah. Well, Jesus is always your cause.

He even said it. It's up for a little bit of a kid's company. Right. It's just, and that's one of the things. That's why a woman.

Give birth to a child. That's one of the wireless mysteries of life. Did you watch that happen? No. I ain't strong enough to watch that happen.

Okay. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not.

But look, and that's always amazing.

It's special when you start back. Okay. She's got twins. Yeah.

How does the woman's body make room for that, for crying out loud?

It's still function. Dad said it's the most frightening thing you ever witnessed. Oh, I saw three of them, and I had one word. Wow. No, no.

Yeah, I could do it. Okay, come on. I want a pifed out from the blood. And everybody else. Okay.

I just asked out. Go on back to it. That's why Jesus is to greatest. Okay, when you look at him, and I always go, people don't realize. Okay.

They don't look at him as a man.

Yeah.

Jesus was a man for crying out, and I'm looking at what he did.

Born of a woman. Yeah. Born of a woman. And I, that was a miracle in itself. Okay.

Because there was no sex involved.

We're out of time, but I will say this when, in, in response to why, you know,

my dad put sin at the top of this. We know what our problem is. We have a sin problem. And we do have trouble. Well, condenser self.

And there isn't even one out there who's contributing to this. And God is playing for all the bad stuff he's doing.

And all the mistakes that happen after your born that we do, that's why in this framework,

he's talking about being born again, reborn. I was waiting for you to get there. And that's how we become children. And that's where the humility comes from and the rest. It comes in Christ.

So, so thank you for coming in. Jill, we'll see you next time.

It always amazed me how quick he goes fast.

You know, I always learn, but you know, people need to realize, okay.

The world's, all the world's problems. The answer is Jesus Christ. Just son of man, just son of God. Amen. Well said. See you next time on this. Thanks for listening to the unashamed podcast.
