"Li from NPR News in Washington, I'm Dan Ronin.

Triple A's latest fuel survey shows the price of unleaded regular gasoline now sits at

just below $3.70 a gallon nationally.

That's up almost a quarter in the last week.

Gasoline is nearly 70 cents a gallon more expensive than a year ago. NPR White House Correspondent Daniel Kurtzbaughan says the White House position on rising fuel prices seems to be changing on a regular basis." The definition of victory has been a moving target thus far, but it's pretty fair to say that yeah, he cares a lot about reopening that straight because gas prices.

I mean, before this war, he talked about gas prices all the time, trying to make the case that his economy was stronger. That was one of his key data points. And now, that line about gas prices is conspicuously gone when he speaks. NPR's Daniel Kurtzbaughan meanwhile diesel fuel the main energy component in trucking is

nearly $5 a gallon up a $1.40 from a year ago. Wall Street is bracing for another bumpy week as the war in Iran continues to send prices for oil-souring NPR's Maria Aspen reports now all eyes are on the federal reserve.

The Fed has been widely expected to hold interest rates steady when it meets this week,

even before the war upended oil markets. Inflation has been moderating, but it's still hotter than the Fed would like. And now, oil prices are surging, which is already hitting consumers at the gas pump. If the conflict continues, the energy crisis will likely spill over into all kinds of trucking and shipping costs, feeling more inflation and hurting the broader economy.

Wall Street has shrugged off a lot of geopolitical turmoil in recent months, but it seems pretty worried about the war and its potential economic fallout.

Stocks fell for their third straight week, and U.S. markets are in the red since the start

of the year. Maria Aspen and PR news. At the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, night, the best picture honors went to a sometimes quirky film depicting revolutionaries trying to help immigrants. Here's more on the story from NPR's Steve Futterman.

There was uncertainty until the very end. Unlike past years, it wasn't clear which film would win best picture. The cold kidman ended the suspense. The Oscar goes to one battle after another. One battle after another beat out the other film given a chance to win Seniors, Seniors

won four awards including Bestlead Actor, which went to Michael B. Jordan. I just want to say thank you for everybody in this room to have something to do with my success. I love you guys and everybody at home who supported Seniors and went to see the movie once twice three, four, five times.

Thank you. Because you guys made this movie what it is. I love you. Just see Buckley won Bestlead Actress for her role in Hamlet. The evening included a moving tribute to Robert Redford by Barbara Streisand.

The CEOs of several major airlines in the United States are urging Congress to embrace a bipartisan measure to end the partial government shutdown to fund the Department of Homeland Security and get thousands of TSA agents paid.

The airport security employees this weekend went without their first full paycheck for funding

for the Department of Homeland Security after funding lapsed on February the 14th. Our record-breaking blizzard is blankening Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, the Dakotas, and parts of Michigan. From Member Station, WU, WM, Miami, Silver, reports people in Wisconsin are being urged to stay home.

In a large part of the Central Plains through the Upper Great Lakes region, there's heavy snowfall, dangerously high winds, and wide out conditions. Meteorologists Taylor Patterson with the National Weather Service says it's not often you see such a large area experiencing a blizzard for Wisconsin in particular, there's portions of the area that have forecasted 12 to 16 inches of snow or more, and then with that the

really strong winds. Meteorologists are expecting dangerous windchills across parts of northern Wisconsin and Minnesota and power outages due to sleep and freezing rain in the overnight hours. The film centers has gotten a lot of attention during this award season, but why?

If centers winds the Oscar for best picture, it is because of how Hollywood wants to see it. So listen to code switch in the NPR app or wherever you get your podcasts.
