"Lie," from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh.

Federal investigators offered another update a short time ago on what they've learned so

far about the air Canada plane that collided with a fire truck on a loguardia airport runway, late Sunday, killing two pilots and injuring dozens of people. The chair of the National Transportation Safety Board Jennifer Hammonday said, "There were two people in air-traving troll on the overnight shift. They were pulling double-duty, not uncommon at airports, but a scenario

so NTSB has raised concerns about." Hammonday also noted that the fire truck which was responding to a safety concern involving another plane at the gate at the time of the collision did not have a transponder. She referenced as the X airport service detection equipment.

"In order for as the X to work well, you have to know where ground vehicles and aircraft

are." So in this case, that ground that vehicle did not have a transponder. She says investigators are working to get a handle on air-trafficking, ground-trafficked

details at the time of the deadly incident, the first of awardia, in more than 3 decades.

Mark Wayne Mullins been sworn in as a ninth secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, the Republican resigned from the U.S. Senate yesterday after a majority of his former colleagues confirmed his nomination. Mullins taken over a week after Christy Known was ousted. American drivers were spending about 15% more on gas than a year ago, according to the bank

of American Institute. But so far, consumers do not appear to be pulling back on other spending, and Pierce Steven Bassaha has more. Gen Z and Millennials are especially vulnerable to high gas prices.

That's according to credit and debit card data from the Bank of America Institute, which

shows young adults spend a higher amount on gas compared with their discretionary spending. David Hensley is the Institute's chief economist, and he says gas prices have not caused Americans to pull back on overall spending yet. Right now, the consumers are holding up, and this will all come down to how long this oil price gasoline price shock laughs, of course.

Tensley says the high gas prices could also cut into the benefits Americans get from higher tax refunds this year. Steven Bassaha and Pure News. Afghanistan, Taliban rulers have released American citizens in Dennis Coil, who have been detained for a year.

Afghanistan and Iran were singled out by the State Department in early March for their practice of detaining Americans as a form of leverage. Coil was detained in January 2025 while in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

His describes a 64-year-old academic who focused on Afghanistan's many language communities.

It's not clear why the Taliban detained him. Two Taliban spokespeople did not respond to requests for comment, but in a statement, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said Coil's release came on the occasion of Redell Fittard, the celebration that Moxie End of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Day Hadid, and Pyannus, Moida.

The FCC says it's added consumer-grade routers made overseas to a list of telecoms equipment prohibited from being imported into the United States.

The rule applies to new devices, not routers already in the U.S. It says the move follows findings from an interagency body that such routers pose unacceptable national security risks. That includes a severe cybersecurity risk.

It says could be leveraged to disrupt critical infrastructure or harm Americans.

The FCC says the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security can grant conditional approval for routers to be imported if they're determined not to pose a security risk. John Ruich and PR News. A new study is out finding that one of the best ways to prevent kidney stones is to

drink more water. Here's NPR Salas and Aubrey. About a million Americans go to the ER with painful kidney stones each year that kidneys filter blood to remove waste from our bodies and help the body balance fluids electrolytes and acid, but imbalances can cause crystals to form and lead to stones.

Review of 31 studies found that among people who had already had a kidney stone, it's possible to significantly reduce the likelihood of a recurrence by increasing fluid intake. Experts recommend about 8 cups of water per day. Researchers found a low sodium diet and decreasing animal protein may help too, and there's some evidence that adding a little lemon juice to water may also reduce recurrence.
