"Live from the NPR news in Washington, I'm Windsor, Johnston.
Vice President Jady Vance has arrived in Switzerland to meet with the delegation from Iran.

fighting in Southern Lebanon." The meetings in Switzerland were supposed to begin on Friday, but were postponed after a heavy Israeli bombardment of Southern Lebanon that killed dozens of people.
The Iranian delegation warned that talks would not advance without first addressing Lebanon.
Despite a stated ceasefire there, Israel continues to exchange fire with Hezbollah, the Iran-bathed militant group. Iran said it closed the street of Hormuz in response to these strikes, but the U.S. military denied Iran's claim that it was controlling the street. facility in Siberia. NPR's Germanicicus reports it's Ukraine's latest attack on Russia's oil infrastructure. The regional governor of the South Eastern city of Zapoteja says Russian glide bombs hit apartment buildings there, killing and injuring civilians. Meanwhile in his evening video address Zelensky said U.Kranian defense tech companies
are quickly modernizing drones to strike even deeper into Russia. He said the latest strikes had a Russian oil refinery in western Siberia that's 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border about 1,200 miles. He added that these strikes on Russia's oil infrastructure are a fair response to frequent Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities.
The president Trump is claiming "without evidence" that vandals may be responsible for the massive algae bloom at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. NPR's Marie Andrews of its reports Trump says the recently renovated pool may have to be trained again for repairs.
“Trump launched a $14 million renovation ahead of the nation's 250th anniversary, but it”
has not resolved on going issues with the pool, including algae, and the newly installed blue lining has been peeling away. One visitor to the pool Maryland resident and former Olympian David Hurn was arrested on Friday and charged with destroying government property. Hurn says he merely reached into the pool to touch one of the already dislodged blue pieces
and denies the charge. In post-santruth social Saturday, Trump said without offering details or evidence that the pool was slashed with a knife and vandals poured in corrosive chemicals. Trump also said he met with contractors and the pool will likely be drained for repairs. Marie Andrews of its NPR news Washington.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency as crews battle a massive warehouse fire in Los Angeles. Because light beer and his pals appear headed to infinity and beyond in Toy Story 5, NPR's Bob Mondello reports the animated film is topping the box office charts this weekend. As a fifth-quel in Pixar's most popular storyline, the new Toy Story movie was always expected to get kids out of the house. Funny, screen time's over now.
The story of Toy's versus tech has already sold 71 million dollars worth of tickets in North America on its first day, including previews. That should set it up for a three-day total near $160 million dollars. Easily, the biggest opening weekend of 2026 overseas ticket sales have also been brisked so the worldwide weekend total is expected to top a quarter of a billion dollars, Bob Mondello
