Live from MPR News, I'm Jail Snyder, Venezuela's health minister says at leas...
are now known to have died when days powerful back to back-growth quakes, some who died
“or foreigners in a large number of people remain unaccounted for.”
As rescue teams try to find survivors in the rubble of collapsed buildings, the BBC's will grant. We've had journalists, friends, have been on the site all day and they say that some people simply don't want to talk, they're sitting in huddled in families as the rescue services are working around the clock, trying to reach those who are still trapped under
the rubble. These are still the vital hours when people can be pulled from the rubble and they have been moments of hope, I saw video of a baby being pulled from the rubble and they have been a variety of people who've been saved, but it is a very, very difficult task because of course there is the recovery of bodies as well.
The U.S. Supreme Court has handed the White House victories in a pair of immigration cases that MPR's Humanibosteals says give President Trump more power to set immigration policies. Both of these rulings reduce legal pathways to enter the country. The administration has a broader goal of mass deportations and in order to reach that goal,
“the administration has increased the number of people who are eligible for deportation, even”
if they are legally here. This administration is very focused on immigration enforcement in the interior of the country while also keeping border crossings as minimal as possible and these rulings allow the government to further change the immigration system. The court is allowing the Trump administration to end legal protections for Haitian and Syrian
immigrants and also clear the way for the administration to potentially revive an immigration policy used to turn back migrants seeking asylum at the southern border. The evacuation of thousands of stranded sailors in the state of Formus has been pausing a challenge to President Trump's efforts to reopen the passageway. It comes after a cargo ship was hit by a projectile.
The report of a strike came ours after Tehran threatened vessels using the straight without Iran's permission.
Iran's revolutionary guard says ships must coordinate with its naval forces in order to
transit the state of Formus. Its statement Thursday says transit outside of approved routes is "perhibited and very dangerous" and that violators will be dealt with. It comes a day after nearly 50 ships carrying millions of barrels of oil made their way through the waterway along a route near Oman after an interim peace deal was signed between Iran
and the US. Iran's foreign ministers says his countries and dialogue with Oman to define the future administration of the waterway and its maritime services. The US and Gulf Arab states say they will not accept tolls. However, Iran and Oman say they're discussing costs of services to administer navigation
through the waterway. Able to rally and peer news. Dubai. This is in PR. There are now 24 confirmed cases of the new world's screw worm in Texas.
It's a flash-eating parasite threat in the state's cattle industry, but as Texas Public Radio, David Martin Davies reports, there's also a concern for the state's dear population. Texas now has more than 5 million while dear, but before the screw worm was eradicated in the 60s, it's estimated the parasite killed 80% of newborn farms. Dr. Galen Wilmouth Burlinson is a South Texas veterinarian.
And fortunately with wildlife, there is no proven treatment.
“He says older generations remember when the scourge kept the South Texas dear populations”
low. My dad can tell me stories about when he was a kid, we didn't have a lot of deer down here because of screw worm infestations. A major decline in the dear population would hurt the South Texas economy. The region is internationally known for its large, white-tailed bucks and hunting supports
landowners, outfitters, and rural businesses. For NPR news, I'm David Martin Davies in San Antonio. The U.S. men's national soccer team has closed out group stage play at the World Cup with a loss. The U.S. felt a turkey three goals to two in England with California last night when Turkey
scored a last minute goal in the 8th minute of second half-stoppage time. The result, though, did not matter for either team the U.S. won its first two matches to advance to the knockout round. Turkey was eliminated after losing to Australian Paraguay. Fox and Europe have slipped in the early going opening lower today following heavy losses
