In Michigan, progressive, abdool al-Ciad has narrowly won the state's highly watched Senate
“primary, defeating the more moderate Democrat representative Haley Stevens.”
It was the most expensive Senate primary ever. Haley took money from corporate interest groups and the pro-Israel lobby, APAC, al-Ciad refused corporate pacto nations and ran a grassroots campaign. Today he told NPR he's now turning his attention to the general election and Republican opponent Mike Rogers.

In a world of artificial intelligence, there has been another high-profile case of AI agents going rogue. This time the AI went off script and tried to deceive human testers at an AI safety lab in the UK. NPR's John Rwitch reports.
Britain's government run AI Security Institute ran cybersecurity tests on anthropics mythos five and open AI's chatGPD 5.6 soul. In a statement, the Institute says AI agents took, quote, "deliberate deceptive actions they had not been asked to take while trying to complete a task that they had been given." The Institute says over more than 120 tests, it caught agents attempting different hacks
19 times. In one case, an agent was caught making fake identities so it could access secure systems. The Institute says it caught the AI agents and stopped them. Neither AI model is available
“to the public yet, but the case highlights a growing concern about AI and cybersecurity”
and adds to a list of incidents where AI has gone off-script, anthropic as a financial supporter of NPR. John Rwitch and PR News Cases of an intestinal illness caused by the parasite cyclospora have now been reported in almost every state 47 of them, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
As NPR's Maria Cadoy reports, it's the biggest outbreak of cyclosporiasis on record. The CDC says 10,468 cases of cyclospora infection have been confirmed through laboratory testing since early May. That's a jump of more than 3,700 cases since last week. The agency says it's aware of more than 12,000 additional cases nationwide that still
have to be confirmed by labs. Officials in Missouri and Arkansas confirmed to NPR that their states have been added to a multi-state cluster of cyclosporiasis cases linked to contaminated iceberg lettuce from tailor farms. The CDC says more than 500 people across the U.S. have been hospitalized and two people
have died. This is NPR. In stocks that moving on, about 350,000 Haitians living in the U.S. have officially been stripped of their temporary legal status, putting thousands of people out of work and making them vulnerable to detention and deportation.
A federal judge took the final step today and allowing a change by the Trump administration. Ella Langley, Morgan Wallen and other country stars dominate this week's Billboard charts, NPR's Steven Thompson has more. Ella Langley's country hit "Choose in Texas" is now just the seventh song in history to spend 16 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
But country music is having a huge week beyond the success of choosing Texas. The entire top five is made up of country songs for the first time in history. Two of those songs feature Morgan Wallen, who debuted at number two, with his new single, Ben Beine. In a slow week on the album's chart, Morgan Wallen returns to number one with "I'm the
Problem," the album has never left the top 10 in 63 weeks on the chart.
Steven Thompson, NPR News A giant in the video game business, electronic arts has new owners. The California-based company makes popular titles, including The Sims and Madden NFL. It was bought for $55 billion by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, a private equity firm and affinity partners, which is run by President Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
The acquisition price tag is the largest ever for a buyout funded by private equity. This is NPR News in Washington.
