Iran issued new and unexpected demands for the U.S. today, among them is the lifting of the
“naval blockade on Iran's ports and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region.”
Iran says it will not sign a peace deal until those demands are met. The situation in the Strait of Hormuzbine while remains difficult. Tim Wilkins is managing director of an industry group representing oil, gas, and chemical tankers. The situation right now in the Strait of Hormuzbine remains severe.
We are still having vessels being targeted by drones and by missiles and number of tankers transiting through the Strait is massively reduced compared to what it was pre-conflict. On Wednesday, 13 Friday this week, U.S. facilitated transits of about 11, 13, and then 15 were planned last night, so we assume that these have been successful. Families across the country are struggling more than ever to pay for child care.

There are many reasons for the soaring costs.
“During the pandemic, some states held off on adjusting how much they reimburse child care”
providers for families on subsidies, federal COVID money dried up, and inflation is driving up prices resulting in providers making cuts. Players like Rachel Proper of Oklahoma City's child care incorporated. They had to cut quality measures and really kind of get down to doing basic child care as opposed to really doing those things that are exceptional and bring magic to our classrooms.
States are experimenting with fixes to spread out child care costs and lighten the load on families. For NPR News, I'm Beth Wallace in Tulsa. Today marks one year since the gunman targeted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Headquarters based in Atlanta, one police officer was killed and it caused severe damage
to the building. Sophie Grottis of Georgia Public Broadcasting has more on our story. Last August around the end of the work day, the CDC was put on lockdown. Around 200 rounds were fired at the building, shattering windows while staff were still inside.
On Friday, CDC leadership and staff gathered to honor 33-year-old Dicab County Police Officer David Rose, who was killed while responding to the shooting. As friends, family and colleagues filed out, Rose's former co-worker, public information officer, Elise Wells, said the day it was about gratitude.
“I think he would be proud of his sacrifice.”
