the stands in San Antonio. I don't know what they're doing. Get back to your seats. It just was too much, too much spurs and they win easily and take a pivotal game five. Yeah, but what I often win be, at least like tonight and and really through the playoffs, like Winby is kind of, he's evolving so fast as a center. Like the knock against Winby a couple months ago was like he doesn't really have that, you know, a great offensive low post game. And now we're seeing that, oh yeah, Winby can do that too. Yeah. So it's just a matter. It's a matter of time. He's going to be

a, he's going to be the best center of all time at like every skill set by the time it's all sudden done. And right now, what's the stat? The pivotal game five that in a two-two series, Winner game five wins 82% of the time? Yeah. It's it's it's it's it's the game. The spurs have

“done it. I think the spurs are 10 and one when they've won game five of a series that's”

tied to two and they look dominant tonight. And maybe maybe I'm outing myself as not a diehard spurs watcher. I haven't seen too much of them. Dillon Harper. Oh yeah. Dillon Harper should be starting. Dillon Harper might be the best guard on that team. And I understand that they've got, you know, two other players that they're paying significant amounts of money to. But I feel like Dillon Harper is the best player on. Like there's there's not a lot of holes when you have Victor Wembe and Yana standing in the middle like you can just see it as the timber rolls get frustrated. You just can't they have to alter every shot they have to take a lot of threes from guys they don't want taking threes. They shot you know 27% from three tonight and that's a lot of the Wembe effect where it's like you can't go in the paint and and you just there's not a lot

His feels like his presence is just everywhere on the court and you're thinking about him even when he's not there. watch and it's his first playoffs. I don't it was a it was a it was a close game with four

and I don't blame him like he's still coming back from injury he had an incredible game for his

knee went backwards 10 days ago and he had to play two two you know he had a crazy effort in game four and then has to come back and play game five it's just it's tough the odds are stacked against the

can I'm in a practice setting it's funny because I was looking at my irons the other day and the 997 997 99 are getting to the point where I'm like I got to get a new set because they're quite warm and the eight looks like just brand new yeah they look fresh that's awesome do you think about that when you're on the course like because for for those of us that stink at golf it's like we get obsessed with like the certain clubs that we like and we'll find or any reason to hit a

seven iron because it's like oh I feel comfortable with a seven iron when you're on the course or you're like I'd rather hit the six because I practice with that more no no never gets to that point

it's usually right around US open I think I changed my irons so we're coming up like on that time anyways and I'm off but like it'll get worn out or Ricky's like it doesn't really matter you can get 99 and 99 it's gonna go the same distance because there's no grooves on it about spin on ours I was asking Ricky about that and he said the the US Open at Shinnecock on 17 like a par three he was like just hit the nine iron because it's basically an eight iron

gonna be awesome Shane I want to talk all pgh championship but before we do that dude you're playing in the longest day you're playing to maybe play in the US open can we just can you explain to us everything because I we kind of understand it so like it's like start from the beginning how how how have you gotten to this point where you you how many qualifiers did you get into and then what is the longest day just do it all I want to break dump it yeah so for the US open obviously

“the the whole open part of the name um in theory anybody could get in you I think you have to have”

a uh basically a zero handicap or better to apply to get into a qualifier they call them local qualifiers uh they have them everywhere so they've got them in Chicago and I think the ground they might have one in Alaska I mean they've got them all over the place typically uh depending on how competitive the area is so northeast a little bit more competitive Arizona forward a place is like that are gonna be competitive there'll be four or five spots out of about a hundred guys to basically

progress through the qualifying stages so you go local if you get through that then you get into the final qualifying day which is golf song is staying then um that cuts down to about 12 13 sites around the country you apply it and rank which ones you want to play in and then hopefully get into the one you want to get into and uh yeah on June 8th we'll rock and roll it's 36 holes uh that day I did it in 2019 but it wasn't golf's longest day it was uh I had to play with all the pros

because I was working for Fox and we were doing all the USDA stuff so this will be the first time I'm actually doing it on golf's longest day yeah played well it was blowing like 30 miles an hour in Connecticut um kind of got it in the house at 200 par and that was the number I needed so so how many people this is awesome so how many people on golf's longest day then get to qualify for the U.S. Open like what are your chances looking like I mean not not great if we're being honest but I mean

it you know I I think dependent on the site so they'll do you know like last year max played in one in Ohio okay that one has like 15 spots because that's where all the pros go after the memorial my spot and the northeast that I'm likely going to play and we'll probably have four spots out

“of I don't know maybe a hundred guys in the field so I'm you have to play well you probably”

have to shoot you know three under ish each round so probably got to touch six under or so obviously dependent on condition but yeah I'm fired up I it like when I did it in 2019 I was

working I had to fly basically I'm like a late night flight to get into Dallas had never seen

the golf courses before I wouldn't exactly say I was preparing the right way I'm going to go after PGA Week and play practice rounds of the courses up here that are hosting and so in theory hopefully I'm a little bit more prepared but you know getting through locals kind of the goal and then if you get into sectional and you you know put yourself at a position after 18 holes you never know yeah so it's 36 holes in a day which sounds crazy what what is that like and you

have to walk the entire time so by by the end is it actually like an exhausting day of golf yeah I remember um I had my best buddy in the world caddy for me in Dallas um he's not a big golfer um just a good dude I like I'd prefer good dude over you know kind of good caddy I'd rather have the hang you know and um we got done and we went to the only place you go after at 36 today it whole day of walking with the chilies and a big meal respect um that was a moment too

and I'll send you guys the photo after we get off air but a guy across from me at the bar I never

seen this before at a chilies was having a glass of red wine and uh corn on the cob all a cart that's hard to go yeah you know I mean you know you could you could you could experience

“certain indulgences I think around major uh obviously restaurant tier places but that was”

pretty impressive to see but went to chilies I mean exhausted I mean it's a long day you're walking a lot uh depending on whether obviously it's hot it it plays into it as well um that was one of the cool things last year I mentioned Max I mean he he did it he carried his own bag for both the rounds which would be crazy so I got a guy that caddy for me when I got through US Amter qualifying out here and uh he hit me up on Instagram to caddy for me he was awesome kind of an aggressive caddy

in terms of the way you wanted to play and so I hit him up and I got through and said you have any interest to doing this and so I think he's gonna be on the bag again for me in a few weeks. That's the whole thing is so awesome the fact that you're going through this whole process I mean rooting for you guy it sounds like you're saying like you got to go you know you got to touch six under over the course of the 36 holes but you shot two under in the qualifier like you do you

have it in you do you think that that I feel like I'm asking Max when we first had him on I was like can you win the masters can you do this you almost did yeah yeah I mean I I think I'm playing ir first of all I think golf is one of those things I don't know about I mean obviously I

know Hank is always switch between how he's gonna play but uh big cat you have kids and you

kind of get a little older in life and all of the shit you cared about in your life becomes a

obviously I'm not playing for anything I mean I had like jobs that actually you know provide for

“my family so me playing competitive golf is the fun part of my life I think it used to make me nervous”

yeah so yeah I mean I think I'm I'm capable of going out there and doing it I think I'm playing solid enough golf right now to go into it and I'm actually I had a long conversation with my wife after I got through you know last week or whatever and I said I'm gonna play a lot of golf over the next few weeks I hope you're okay with that and she was pretty supportive of it and said yeah absolutely practice you know get yourself ready so you know come that Monday I actually feel like I'm at least

feel like I walk into it prepared more than I I did a few years ago have you had the conversation with your bosses yet being like hey the US open like I might be playing in it well you don't what's funny is I'm doing an event I'm doing a corn fairy tour event that we can before golf longest day and so I had to call my boss when I got through and they're big you know they're all big golf guys they understand the whole deal but I call them like can you find somebody to

cover for me on Sunday they're like we got you we'll find somebody okay yeah I mean honestly I think the doors in theory open more if this was the case I think if I got into a US open the opportunity to maybe kind of split time between broadcasting playing things like that I know Amelia Durand who does a great job in terms of golf broadcasting did this a couple years ago I believe it a US women's diameter she was making a run she'd play in the morning and broadcast and the afternoon but

I mean again I just like the fact that it exists the fact that this opportunity exists it's very unique to golf you know I mean we're not going I mean you kick a 40 yard field goal it's not like

you're walking onto a team right yeah never the fact that this is an option is pretty cool it is

very cool it's it's the it's the US open like I like that they still have this where anyone could theoretically qualify like Hank is going to qualify someday I'm going to manifest that right now yeah on a dream board how how how like closely they have to look at your handicap like if Hank showed up and he was like yeah I'm a zero handicap and then he just happened to shoot like the best golf they've ever played and he he qualifies is somebody going to go back and be like hey

“your handicap was actually you were lying about that well I think it's you have to put your”

your chin or again whatever we call it number in and so I think you have to fudge the scores on the front end so you've got to do a little prep but I mean there's guys that every qualifier you know that the Ryan French buddy of mine the Monday cue guy that does a great job he'll post those you know the guys that shoot 115 and 118 and 7 these qualifiers I mean there are a lot of dreamers and golf across the board there's a lot of guys that are 45 that you know shoot two or three

under at their club and think they're going to make it on the champions tour I think that's why golf is so special is the fact that we have that run a nine holes we're like man you know what I might actually be pretty good at this game yeah it obviously bleeds into you know trying to I think I could get to do a US open yeah it humbles you real quick so when you're when you're doing the longest day you've got 36 holes is there a break how does that work is there a break after 18 like

a morning round then an afternoon round yeah I mean you you dependent on the side it might be two

different golf courses so you're basically driving the between them I think I went to a subway and

2019 I'm gonna subway in a minute but I think I went to a subway and got a sandwich on the way and you know arrive hit two or three balls and go I mean it's pretty quick in terms of the turn around but yeah I mean you're your snack and eating throughout the day and you know you feel like one of those cyclists that's using the gel and all that stuff yeah I speaking for myself if I was lucky enough to ever be that good at golf and get to the the longest day if I was shooting like

10 over par in the first round I just wouldn't play the second 18 I'd be like that no absolutely well listen I'm not gonna be out dudes FFT there's a lot of guys especially the pros you know that are big names that are trying to get in the US open if the first 18 then go their way they are not continuing their afternoon yeah I mean first like four holes if those don't come my way

yeah I'm out at that point and then our good friend Danny Woodhead is the first alternate from

from his area too so he might get in I'm excited to see you guys I hope that you can do it to be very very fun to have in the US open yeah yeah big cat big cat is there anything crazier than the fact that these pro athletes get into golf and can be this competitive like Steph Curry and

“Woodhead and these guys it's it's bullshit that they're so good but then you remember that they're”

professional athletes like LeBron I actually had this bet with someone I can't remember who who's I talking with I can't remember who I was talking with but I said that I would I would put money on LeBron if if you say the year after he retired or when he retires give him a full calendar year if he's in does go golf as much as we think he might be I think he'll be a five-handy cap within a year like that's that's just what a pro athlete does they have the the I know he's a little too tall

but still I just you watch them swing and you're like yeah that's just different they move different than the regular human being yeah golf with Frank commensky last week and he's you know closer seven feet and it still doesn't matter he's just like yeah I've been throwing myself into it now

bounds better every single month because they just have that ability I've noticed that it's the

dudes that were pro athletes that have to use that hip rotation yeah that become the best golfers like hockey pitchers are great for those guys that had to use those muscles throughout their lives typically kind of lean right into it in terms of golf yeah it is it is kind of bullshit all right let's talk PJ championship can you tell us give us the the like the big view of this course because I don't I'm not familiar with it what should we expect what's like kind of the the thing that we

should look to you know different courses have different quirks and everything it's a question we ask before most majors which is what's this course is deal yeah what's up with it yeah what's

“what's this course do I think this this course is is like the classy 60-year-old woman”

that maybe had gotten a late divorce and is still going to the gym you know it still looks great

still might be dating around this is a golf course it's been around for a long time obviously it's in Philly by the way as max available or no yeah yeah hey max I listen to the Monday episode I don't understand why you didn't immediately divert all your attention into the PJ championship because it's your PGA yeah I did my PGA yeah around him 10 minutes from my my home growing up so there you go I took my prom pictures there I haven't told everyone that I took my prom pictures

before at around a make right on whatever hole the club house is on this is probably a teen yeah if I had to guess it would be weird it was like 11 it's a it's a Donald Ross course crazy green complex is big green complexes there's been a lot of changes done to the golf course over the years it's tight it's not overly long you know the PJ championship typically is the

“longest of the majors this is not going to be one of the longest you see I don't think you have to”

vomit off the tee to contend around here but I do think it's a second shot golf course a lot

like what we talk about with Augusta National and also just a lot of trouble 174 bunkers around the golf course and a lot of them are really deep and narrowly especially the fairway bunkers you don't want to hit into those but basically it's gonna it's gonna play into what we see at the masters what we see around the US open a lot of the great iron players I think are going to have a chance to contend and then obviously the lag putting but you you think about players that

might fit the mold of this place I mentioned bombers obviously if you hit it far and long you're going to be at a advantage anywhere but I think considering the size of the greens and how good of a putter Bryson is I think the kind of up and down iron play from Bryson will be actually helped out around a marana make because you don't have to be a totally precise to find the surfaces then you just have to to put all right what's the rough like here we're going to get any videos of

people throwing golf balls into the grass and then they're like oh my god a little more US opening PFT when you get into those videos it's not it's not nothing but the PJ of America doesn't want it to be drop a ball in a disappear I mean it's gonna be healthy it's gonna be hardy and I mean obviously if you hit into it it could be penalizing but you're not going to get like drop your cell phone and then you can't find it videos like you will kind of a few weeks

EGA championship tickets because that be a lot it could be we could be looking at a heavy New York crowd you're absolutely right yeah I'm gonna say I'm gonna say under 200 is what my guess would be on Thursday Friday I'm looking right now yeah under 200 for yeah for the get in price to Thursday 165 Friday 250 now but to Max's other point he said that people from New York have jobs people from Philly don't that would make it more likely for people

from Philly to go on Thursday Friday overflowing with golf hands and yeah that's the real fan needed so let's talk about the golfers that are playing the best right now came young has been awesome yeah I mean Scotty's the favorite is that fair that Scotty should still

set for himself last year was so impossibly high so he hasn't been winning every tournament this year but he still is there is there maybe something with Scotty's game you're like oh he's got to fix this or something's a little off or if he plays his best no one's got a chance yeah it hasn't been as tight is what I'd say with Scotty's Sheffler it hasn't been bad obviously but it hasn't been as tight I mean he's been leading the PJ tour the last three years in terms of Iron Play that's been

a little loose this year there's been times where he's gotten away with the driver even the putter has gotten a bit cold a couple of weeks ago missed a lot of short puts inside of five feet that's kind of the bad for Scotty I'd say the good is you know despite not winning a lot after that first of it of the year he's finished second in the last three events and the people he's lost two or the three best golfers in the world not name Scotty Sheffler Rory came young

and math it's Patrick so you're not getting beat by the 75th ranked golfer in the world you're

“getting beat by guys that are having these incredible years the other thing I think that plays”

in a Scotty's hands it's he didn't play this past week he took the week off and he's been at a rotty make basically since Saturday playing practice rounds and preparing again going back to what

the golf course asks you got to be great with the irons and it really helps if you're an incredible

pitcher when you miss the greens and those are his best skill sets so I think there's a better chance Scotty wins by 10 that he does finish in the top 10 I think this is a great opportunity for Scotty to kind of go back to back at the PGA okay and what about some names that might be outside that list of the of the top five that you would look to have a chance at a course like this so I got five best case scenario wins on the week if you guys want to yes absolutely

three and you had those sprinkled in all those guys are obviously big time players I my number three is Brooks winning another one yeah I just think getting a four is awesome um I think he's

tour this season an iron play I was surprised when I saw that statistically played great on Saturday and Merle Beach I also got to say this about Brooks he's become one of my favorite professional golfers because he kind of has that no bullshit mentality you know on the golf course but I love the fact that he's just kind of down with whatever they ask of them in terms of what he needs to play in or the process he's got to go through like the fact that he went and played the European tour you know

out of college in the challenge tour and went a bit of different path the fact that he's opened up about the vulnerability of being a pro golfer like Brooks is a little bit deeper I think than people think he is when they see the mock turtle and the biceps and I think Brooks is position in himself to get really a chance to win either this PGA or when it's Chinacock so he's there Bryson's on the list I mean Bryson get a PGA would be great also like on a run right

now at the PGA that's been incredible finished T4 and 23 second in in 24 and second last year so

been close probably needs to get it done at some point considering where he's at and and his run and then the last one is the old guys we've seen him bucket as a late brand senator just won it 45 Justin Rose has won it around him in the past and has played great this year Adam Scott one of the best iron players this year on the PGA tour so those are kind of my best case scenarios is an old guy Bryson Brooks one of the big names in golf or Jordan speed what about um you

you mentioned that you know distances and everything on this golf course uh would about one guy who would be probably number one of the world if you had that top tier distance block um block he's back in yeah I think block he makes the cut I really do okay I think block he's gonna make the cut this week I don't know if he wins the PGA I don't know I don't know I don't know what that's gonna look like but I think if he doesn't get off to a brutal start like he did a couple years ago

weekend yeah let's night with block he I I don't think I've ever seen a guy like burn through like a massive amount of goodwill as fast as he did the last time that he was like in a national coach I got no problem with block he you know like he pops up he wants to play golf he's like a you know it's a fun story but yeah sometimes he needs a guy that's next to him that's like hey maybe we just stop talking for a little bit because everybody loves you so it's just gonna maybe take that to the bank what do you

the teams from live golf or worth $200 million so they've got that equity as leverage coming back

do you have any idea because we've heard you know there has been a blueprint of a plan dating back

the plans in place the outlines there so what have you heard recently about the former live players that did not take the opportunity to come back in January when it was offered and now they're thinking about making the jump back to the PGA how do you think that's gonna look so I think that they I think the PGA tour in roll app are smart enough to understand the power of superstar right I think that's something that golf has leaned heavily into over the last few years we see it

across every sport right I think that's one of the issues right now in terms of the NBA is

the superstars are kind of emerging right now after the steps and the bronze are kind of fading

and they're still trying to figure out who's going to be the face of this league going forward I think with golf Bryson helps whatever Tories on John Rom helps whatever Tories on and then I think on down the list you've got guys that I think in theory would be great to get back

X Y and Z there's an opportunity to come back but I haven't heard anything about what that structure's looking like as of now but I imagine if there's an opportunity or way if live does fold and go away to get Bryson and Rom specifically back probably walking nemen as well I think Trial Hattens another name you'd probably want back on the PGA tour considering how good he please played over the last couple of years I think just setting some precedent to where those

feel the bottom of the club easier when you made contact with the ball I find that is what the cross-handed chip does the best I find you return the club to the ball way more consistently than the other way around have you ever tried the chip like strong handed one handed before because it does the same it's kind of the same feel but I like the idea of the cross-handed if you're not a great chipper to kind of get that repeatable contact on the back of the ball you're not going to get

cute with those chip shots like you're not hitting the flop and doing all sorts of stuff manipulating the face but if you're looking for a straightforward back and through chipping motion I think cross-handed

basically right-hand low it's like if you were to chip to get a left-hand on the bottom yeah so

you're saying it if like when you're doing the chip with one hand if that feels natural to you then going cross-handed might be a good move yeah like if you cheats so funny if you chip one handed I mean you know these are easy chips right PFT these aren't 30 yard pitch shots but it's wild how that other hand can sometimes get in the way and so like if I'm struggling with my chip and at times I'm a lefty I'll go out and chip just left handed right just to get a feel for

the bottom of the club and you're just trying to kind of return the club to the back of the ball where it started and then once you start to get that feel back you can try to get a little bit more into manipulation with you know high and low and things like that I've got a really dumb question for you I've been working a lot of my game recently and I'm feeling good going in this summer for the internet and rotational there's a few things I need some work on one would be

“bunker play you need to practice that and then to maybe the the biggest problem that I have”

just putting in general why to open in a question how do I read puts because I feel like there's something wrong with my eyes I hang those like it usually when I guess which way it's about to break it'll actually be the opposite so uh something you can do I think that's helpful is find the lowest point on the green and then stand there so you I'm assuming you stand behind your ball right when you're reading a put yep you get behind the ball and you look at it go find the

lowest point on the green stand there and then get a feel for where everything's going to move

and I think that'll help you understand maybe where the breaks come from and not always

easiest thing up their flat greens but if there's undulation involved in it I mean you're playing I'm assuming a lot of golf in Chicago a lot of movement on those green complexes it's like find the low point and start from there okay get hit that that makes sense I always just say like it's gonna break towards the water because that's what I've heard people say is that true yeah I mean you can you know it breaks away from the mountain it's a way for you because the mountains are high

and then yeah so obviously it's like still that slopes on the green but the way that's that's a big pro golfer thing to do is they'll tell you like every golf course oh you know it breaks to the creek and you're just like I don't know where the creek is yeah we can't we when we golf the Arizona we're they told us before it breaks away from the mountains and we're just like every single time like yeah we go this way away from the mountains we find yeah I have a PGA championship

live question oh hit me first first part is what is it fair to say that because of the news broke I

think the week after the masters is it fair to say that that was a distraction for the live players in the masters and part two if one is yes is it still a distraction for live players going into

“this year or into this week or has that kind of they've figured it out I think it was definitely”

a distraction masters week for those players I think there's a level of it being motivating now I think now it's been a few weeks you know John Rom and Bryce and I think both played well in Virginia well enough I think to just at least feel like your game is in the right place I think there's got to be a level of motivation specifically for those two guys to come in here and play well I think there's a lot of weight on the shoulders of John Rom right now just not been playing very good golf

at the majors over the last couple of years I think for John Rom getting into the mix he played decent at the PGA last year had a chance on the back nine before Scotty went crazy but I think for John Rom getting here showing up playing a solid opening round don't have to do anything crazy on Thursday but don't shoot yourself out of the golf tournament to start I think there'll be a lot of motivation within those two guys out maybe outside of everybody else to just have a

good major week okay good questions are any long shots I like JJ spawn I mean he's not super long but I like JJ spawn obviously when the US opened last year he was putting terrible to start the year has been putting a lot better got a win in San Antonio before the masters top 25 at Harbor Town finished top 15 at Darrell and T5 this past week playing a lot of golf is my only concern in terms of

“fatigue but I like JJ spawn I also really like Ricky Fowler I think Ricky Fowler could potentially”

get a major win finally this week at a run and make kind of a good golf course forum don't have to hit it 350 off the tee has been plain really solid golf irons look a lot better and mainly the putter I mean Ricky was you know in his prime was the best putter from inside a 10 feet and professional golf he kind of got away from that when he was struggling going back to this golf course you're gonna hit it in spots where you're just trying to two putt if Ricky continues to kind of
