I'm David Rothkuff. I'm joined by Riley Fessler in a Stein as on vacation. How come we're not on vacation, Riley? I don't know. Both are other co-workers on vacation and I feel like it's unfair.
It's unfair and you had to spend the whole weekend moving. How did that go? Good? It went really well, but I'm really tired. So our YouTube viewers will see my beautiful new apartment behind me.

Yeah, there's not as much suspense in mystery of who's going to go first today.
But I've got two war update stories to start as is my tradition. You know, double the fun of reminding you that the war grinds on and that nothing really changes, but Iran is finalizing it deal with a man regarding new shipping routes through the straight-of-arms moves. The Iran insists the strategic waterway will not fully reopen until the U.S. meets several
conditions, including compensation and an end to sanctions. That seems likely, right, David? Seems simple likely, but, you know, I do like the way the tone of this has changed. You know, because you may remember a couple of months ago Donald Trump, he's our president. He was saying things like, "We have all the cards, they have no cards."
“I think everybody should take from this and his prior card statements.”
Ukraine has no cards, Russia has all the cards. I think everybody should want to play cards with the president, because he's bad at it. And he's wrong about this stuff. And in this particular case, Iran, which had no cards, has gone from signing a deal with us, which essentially, or MOU, that essentially gave them everything they wanted.
To now, just toss in that aside and say, "Tell you what, guys, you do exactly what we say. You essentially surrender unconditionally to us." And then we'll start talking about this trick. So they want no more hostilities, they want complete return of all the Iranian assets that have been seized, they want reparations for all the bombing, and then they'll talk.
And they know they can wake this out, because every day they're closer to the election, this is a problem for Trump, it's a problem for the Republicans. They now have essentially two screws on Trump. One is the straight-of-formers, the other is the election, and they're tightening them every single day, and it's probably not that comfortable for Trump, although he seems
so hyper-medicated he may not feel any of it. Well, my two partner is that the Pentagon has ordered defense contractors to submit plans within 21 days to rapidly accelerate production and rebuild a weapon stockpiles, severely depleted by the war.
The recent think tank analysis warns the inventories of critical air defense systems, such
as Patriot and that interceptors have dropped by up to 65% exposing U.S. forces to heightened operational risks, despite President Trump's public assertions that munitions remain abundant. The administration's efforts to secure funding for deployance for replenishment remains stalled in Congress. Yeah, and furthermore, there are other estimates that say, with some of these munitions
we're at empty, we don't have them anymore. The idea that these can be replenished quickly is foolish. We already had a problem with these stockpiles and our productive capacity during the Biden administration, not like this problem, which is critical, but they already knew the problem existed.
And all the answers were this is going to take billions, tens of billions to change the production capacity within the United States, and then it's going to take a couple of years to get up to where we are. And by the way, replenishing to the level we were, obviously is inadequate because the level we were was inadequate for one small war in the Middle East.
So we're clearly not ready for one major war or what we used to be ready for, which is
Two major wars going on simultaneously in the world.
What does this all mean?
Caching for defense contractors because it was going to cost tens of billions to replace
these.
“But if you say, we're in a rush, what does that mean?”
What it means is it's going to cost twice that, three times that because they're going to say, well, if you want it fast, you're going to have to pay more. Well some shakeups in the White House, President Trump announced that the White House's staff secretary will Sharf will take over as White House counsel on September 1st, replacing
it David Warrington, Sharf is a former federal prosecutor who represented Trump in major legal battles, including his Supreme Court presidential immunity case, and recently helped secure approval for Trump's $400 million White House ballroom project.
The leadership change comes at a critical time ahead of midterm elections as the White
House's counsel office prepares to handle potential congressional investigations and ongoing legal disputes. I wouldn't say it's a leadership change because this guy's not a leader, this guy's just another Trump lawyer who's being put in place to protect Trump's various interests, to defend Trump against various lawsuits, or congressional investigations.
It's not what the White House counsel job used to be, which is to ensure the interest the American people within the context of the White House were being represented. It's much more like our new attorney general Todd Blanch, which is the entire US government is being set up to take care of the boss, you know, in my boss fashion. That's American justice for you these days, folks, and ain't pretty.
Well, I had to include this sort because to name I haven't heard it too long, and I kind of forgot that he was running. My pillow founder, Mike Lindell, is competing in Minnesota's Republican Gubernatorial Primary, relying on an endorsement from Donald Trump as his primary advantage over rivals like a state House speaker, Lisa Demuth, and Army veteran Kendall Kuals, despite leading
in some polls, Lindell faces resistance from state party leaders who endorse Kuals, and his and recently raised, and from people with functioning court 10, but yeah, most of all. And recently raised questions regarding Lindell's a residency and personal background during a recent candidate for them, likely Democratic nominee, Senator Amy Kualbuchar, criticized
the entire Republican field for failing to oppose Trump on key issues such as terrorist immigration and the war in Iraq. Yeah, let's be absolutely clear here. Amy Kualbuchar is going to win.
“Mike Lindell's going to learn how to lose money another way, because that's what Mike Lindell”
does, but he's trying to cash in on his fame, completely oblivious to the fact that all of his fame is embarrassing to him, but you know, he's got that missing gene. It's like, I'm on TV, something good must be happening. He's a clown, and this is a circus. They're bound to show up, you know, here and there, and we'll try to get whatever comedy
value we can out of it, but fortunately, Kualbuchar will shut him down. Well, to end on a positive story after winning a competitive Democratic Senate primary and Michigan progressive candidate, Dr. Abdul Elsaid spoke with former president and current movie producer Barack Obama to discuss unifying the party ahead of the general election.
Elsaid, who cited Obama as a key political inspiration despite past policy disagreements, welcome the outreach and expressed hope that the former president would campaign alongside him with the backing of top Democrats and his former primary rival Elsaid now turns his focus to a high stakes general election against Republican Mike Rogers that could determine
The control of the Senate.
Look, this is the Democrats doing what Democrats are supposed to be doing, and what the
“media said they wouldn't do, this is them in array, this is them coming together, everybody”
in Michigan did, Obama did, people are lining up, they're saying this is our candidate, we have to line up behind him, we have to beat Rogers, we have to take the Senate back, and you know, everything that Elsaid has since since the victory has been terrific,
on point, responsive to the needs of different groups, and frankly, very smart, but,
you know, what would you expect from a guy with, you know, degree from Columbia, degree from Oxford, a Rhodes scholarship, a doctor, public health specialist, a guy with a distinguished career, he's a brilliant guy, he's a real Michiganer, he's got a good family, he's supports things that real people want, like health, and, you know, government that cares about
“them, you know, I think he's got a pretty good shot at winning, particularly as the support”
coalesces around it, we're going to have another primary tomorrow in Wisconsin, in which
the gubernatorial candidate, leading the Democratic field, is also a progressive Francesca Ham, and she's again made some of the establishment dams a little uncomfortable, but currently in the polls, she's showing double digitally, so that'll be another message that what the people want here is government care about them, they want good government, they want, you know, basic needs to be met, they want an end to the corruption, and they want the
money out of politics, that was a great message of science, it has been a great message of progressives, and it's the message by the way of the substact that I wrote yesterday
