Hello and welcome to DSR Daily.
I'm David Rothkuff. I'm joined by Riley Fessler. I'm going to Stein. They're both little bubbling up socialists. They're so excited by the news yesterday.
Are you guys excited by what happened in America yesterday? Common sense. Common sense was breaking out. What is it? What is same?
And are you excited too? I'm excited by any and all good things that are happening in America. This included. Good. That good.
That's good.
See what safe folks you come here to the DSR Daily for what?
For good news, for feeling better. That's why you're here.
“And that's what we're going to give you.”
So Minna, why don't you give us a little summary of what happened last night? It would be my honor. And our resounding show of force, New York City Mayor. Zoramam.
Donnie's progressive slate swept establishment back Democrats in Tuesday's congressional primaries, outstaying incumbents. The victories by Democratic Socialist Insurgents signaled a major leftward push on key issues like Israel's war in Gaza and immigration reform ahead of November's midterms. Meanwhile, House Democrat, radical leader Hakeem Jeffries downplayed the losses while
upstate, Trump backed political newcomer secured the Republican nomination. Yeah. Well, I mean, look, there are elections all over the country. The results were different here in Maryland. Some of the more traditional candidates won in more traditional districts.
That's what's supposed to happen in democracy folks. But what happened in New York is also not, oh, that's just in New York phenomenon as many people are saying, because we're seeing it more and more places. It's what happened in the Washington primary, which is why there is a Democratic Socialist candidate for mayor now in Washington who's going to win.
It's what happened in Seattle. It's what has happened in the runoff in Los Angeles, where a very progressive candidate looks like she is a pretty good shot at being the candidate. It's happening across the country for reasons that have nothing to do with labels and the craziness that you're reading about or hearing and all the dumb hot takes you're hearing
this morning. This is about a generational shift. The majority of people in the United States, the majority of people who vote in 2026 and 2028 were born since I hope you're sitting down for this, because some of you are, you know, not spring chickens, the majority of them were born since the end of the Cold War.
When you say Socialist to them, it doesn't mean communist. It means France, it means Holland. It means countries where you get healthcare and you don't go bankrupt if you get sick. And it means places where education is free and where your retirement is taken care of. By the way, it also means countries that have their budgets balance, but have a higher quality
of life. It means places that are working better than here. You know, this is a country where last week there was a poll that says the majority of young people in America do not believe in the American drain. They do not believe they will ever own a home.
Something is broken here and people are looking for solutions and it's a good thing that what we are seeing here is this kind of a movement towards values that are actually shared as we say here over and over and over again by the majority of the American people. Pick your topic, healthcare, gotten reform, tax reform, education reform, protecting the environment, all of the views there where people want change that is often associated
With progressives are held by 60, 70, 80, 90% of the American people.
This is not some fringy right-wing movement, it's a movement among Americans who see the system is not working for them and who would like it to work better.
The problem is that the views that are held by people who don't want those changes
are promoted both on the right and in the center because both of those groups are supported by corporate money, oligarch money, Epstein class money in order to protect their views.
“And that's why you get the most vilification of the views that are actually held by the majority”
of the people. It's perverse and hopefully what is happening here is a generational change that will put into that. It's not going to be easy, but I do think people should not just say, well, that's just New York, or that's just the east coast, they should recognize that there is a movement
in this country among people who would just like better government, a better opportunity
in the future, a government that's not corrupt and is not served, you know, the 1100 billion
years in this country to the exclusion of the 340 million rest of us. One other thing about this coverage, I've seen a lot of coverage saying, oh, this is a big win for mom Donnie. And, you know, even men who's obviously a tool of the mainstream media is like, oh, yeah, this is a big win for mom Donnie.
Folks, how did mom Donnie get there?
“Did some politicians in New York support mom Donnie?”
I say, yes, why isn't this a big win for AOC? People are afraid of that, they want to make this seem more nichey. They want to be able to attack it for reasons they attack mom Donnie.
And frankly, and I was never a Bernie pro, as you know, maybe Riley was, but I was
never a big Bernie pro. But, you know, Senator Sanders was way ahead of this curve. He was right about a lot of these things. Senator Warren was right about a lot of these things. And these people all deserve credit and people need to recognize that this has been a long
time coming. I'm not saying all the problems are solved. Not saying there won't be bitter battles and reckless use of labels and huge amounts of campaign finance money being thrown into various races in order to protect ridiculous tax rates or low regulation.
I'm not saying that people won't support Trump and is effort to make the election unfair. I'm just saying they're stirrings here. And frankly, in a sunny summer morning, I think they're pretty good. And damn encouraging stirrings. Don't you agree, guys, weren't you happy when you heard it?
I was pretty happy. I was so happy and I'm also happy like not just when socialists win. I'm just happy when people who actually care about the people who live where they're going to be representing win. Like I was happy about the governor in Virginia or the governor in New Jersey.
Like I think all of these wins, people who actually care about their communities, winning and community, those are all good things. Exactly right. And that's the way it should be. And you know, you could be a progressive and still be sensible enough to realize that
you want them, majorities across the country and that that means different things in different places. And so yeah, let's have as many progressive views as we possibly can. And let's have as many Democrats as we can. And let's recognize that they won't all agree with each other on everything.
But that they're not working for Russia, the Trump family, corruption, the abstines, the oligarchs, the tech pros, you know, it's possible to move in the right direction. And still have, you know, the majority control by group of people who are diverse themselves as they should be. There are, you know, hundreds of millions of Americans with lots of different views.
“And you know, that's, that's, that's what we're seeing.”
We're seeing very big Democratic turnout. And that's very positive thing.
We'll talk more about this on some upcoming episodes.
But let's get to the rest of the news because I'm sure it sucks.
“The Senate narrowly passed a concurrent resolution directing Donald Trump to withdraw U.S.”
forces from the conflict with Iran following a similar victory in the house. Wait, that doesn't suck. I know. It's good. We have to address.
We have two non-sucky stories to lead off with. Back to back, no less. You guys, you guys, you guys are slipping or somehow on an alternate reality. And I don't know how we ended up here. No, it feels good.
It feels good. It feels good.
It feels, you know, it feels like I had a, a happy morning in America, okay, what's
the problem? I mean, I was, I was up. Now you're going to bring me down. Well, Democrats argue the measure is necessary to a certain congressional war powers. The White House dismissed it as a legally non-binding, meaningless gesture given an existing
April ceasefire in response Trump blasted the vote on truth. Social labeling it poorly timed and fiercely criticizing the forward public incentives who crossed party lines to help pass it. Yeah, what he said was that they were aiding and abetting the enemy.
“And, you know, come in from Trump, that's pretty rich, right?”
Come in from the guy who's advanced in the Putin agenda, undermining the West's agenda
and Ukraine, undermining the West by attacking NATO, undermining American strength by gutting our national security council, gutting our intelligence community, gutting the leadership of our defense community, pursuing ridiculous projects, gutting our standing in the world by showing that we break rules, frittering away our military resources on illegal wars that he can't win, destroying the institutions that have made America strong.
There is no president in American history, go look it up. In fact, I would go further. There is no politician in American history who has done more to aid and abet our foreign enemies than Donald Trump, not when you think about it, it's not even close. Donald Trump has done more to weaken the United States and the strength in our enemies
than any other political leader in our history. And so, you know, this little show of spine by the Congress, too late, not fully respectful frankly of the War Powers Act, even in this respect, is a positive sign and Trump's little snit overnight is merely him saying, "But I want to be king!" But he's not king, that's not the way our system works, doesn't understand our system
and frankly he doesn't care about our system. So, a perfect fru-links tag. Shop-up-out-tick-a-sagt, gis-all-a-g-and-halo-fru-ling. Here, if you're all at the same time, you'll get to come through the allegations. As a new country, you'll get 10% of your own value.

We have a lot of things coming that we're thrilled to share with you in the future. We appreciate your support and thank you for listening. Now, back to the show. A US district judge vacated the Trump administration's nationwide policies, allowing immigration agents to arrest non-citizens at immigration, court houses, ruling out the administration
failed to provide reason explanations for the practice. The decision strikes a major blow to the president's mass deportation campaign, which had drastically expanded court house arrest through executive orders implemented last year. Department of Homeland Security officials sharply condemned the ruling as judicial activism,
Which marks the administration's second federal court loss on court house enf...
in two months.
I'm getting a little flight headed here, guys.
What's going on? Is this an alternative reality? I've got to get a paper bag and breathe into the paper bag, because it's just making me light headed, okay? You know, decent things happening.
Fortunately, periodically our courts, and I say this, no, just five of the virtue of the fact that I merely uttering this, that it is inviting some horrible decision from the Supreme Court, but our courts have actually stood up for law in the United States. That is not, by the way, judicial activism. That is judges being judges and upholding the law, which is their job.
“Judicial activism is coming up with fake rationales to overturn the law, and that's what”
very Trumpy judges do, including six judges on the US Supreme Court. Well, I've got a story to bring us back down to earth, because they divided federal appeals. Are you going to talk about the little dead ducklings outside the reflecting tool? I have refused.
That is too dark here for me, but I have a flip side to minister because they divided federal appeals court has allowed the Trump administration to resume nationwide expedited deportations, overturning a lower court's temporary block on the policy. The majority ruled that the fast track process does not violate due process, providing
the administration with a crucial tool for its mass deportation agenda.
Conversely, some of my advocates and the previous law court judge warned that expanding
“these quicker moves beyond the border lacks adequate safeguards and increases the risk”
of wrongful deportations. Well, that was a brave high. I mean, on the one hand, you got a good ruling, on the other hand, you got a bad ruling. Having said that, this is all going to work itself out over time, but don't rely on the US Supreme Court to do the right thing, vote for people who are committed to restructuring
the Supreme Court so that we can get a majority on it that's more reflective of the needs and views and interests of the American people. Because there's going to be a lot of damage control once we get past Trump and Meg. Our last story for today, President Trump announced he has instructed the Department of Justice to immediately investigate oil companies for failing to lower gas prices as crude oil
costs drop significantly. And a true social post Trump accused the corporations of price gouging, noting that the savings they receive from falling oil prices are not being passed on to consumers. He warned that the industry that pump prices must begin decreasing much faster than their current trajectory.
But no, trajectory, I mean, look, it's an interesting move because you may recall that when it was running for office, Trump got a bunch of oil execs together and said, "Give
me a billion dollars and I will do whatever you want."
Now of course, prices of oil are up, and he is desperately trying to bring them down. I mean, you may not have seen this wave and talked about it here, but our strategic petroleum reserves have been depleted by this administration in an effort to bring down oil prices so that they are now at their lowest level since like 1983. So that's a serious problem.
I mean, that's not that long after we started this strategic petroleum reserves. Having said that, this is a sign of something else, and that is Trump knows high gas prices and high food prices are not going to go down, but naturally in time for the elections. And that could make him lose. And here is so desperately afraid of losing.
I mean, I'm a little surprised, he's gone through these cycles before. Why is he so desperately afraid now that he will do anything to stop a Democrats from getting majority, including, you know, we will see, a lot of efforts to, you know, undermine democracy and cheat. But why?
Why? We have to ask ourselves that.
“And I think it is, he knows he will be impeached, he knows he has been corrupt, he knows”
there are limits to the immunity that he has. Like, you know, for all those of you who are out there going, "Oh, don't impeach him.
You know, it doesn't achieve anything.
Well, he sure hates it, because he knows that's on his permanent record.
“And you know that he knows it's on his permanent record, he is sort of adolescent terminology”
there. Because there's a movement among Republicans to get his impeachments exposed. Why bother?
You can't erase them from history, but why bother?
Because he hates it. Just like he hates the poll that just came out that showed him to be the worst president. He complained about that. But he's the worst president. So, you know, get used to it, don't get used to being reviled for the rest of your miserable
life. Certainly, we will revile you right here at the DSR network, not out of any personal and a mess although there's plenty of that. We'll revile you simply because you're a terrible president, we report the facts. Because we're independent media, and we don't have Barry Weiss telling us what to do.
“So, that's what you can expect from us more of that.”
Later today on Deep State Radio, we're going to have a conversation about what's going on inside the intelligence community, because it's real fucking scary, because you have, you know, a presidential function area who's loyal to Trump and knows nothing about intelligence. He's starting to fire key people, which is going to weaken our intelligence capability, which you may recall was put in place to keep us safe.
All right, we had a brief moment of positivity there. Maybe tomorrow we will try for some more. For now, thank you, Riley. Thank you, Mina. Thanks, everybody.
Bye-bye.
