The UK emissions trading scheme is expanding into maritime.

That changes the picture for ship owners trading in the UK, and our latest podcast episode, I explain what UK ETS means in practice, from new reporting requirements to cost exposure, and how these changes could affect your operations.

I also look at what ship owners need to do now to prepare for compliance. Search within the maritime impact on your favourite streaming platform. This is Deep State Radio, coming to you direct from our super secret studio

in the third subbasement of the Ministry of Snark in Washington, D.C.

and from other undisclosed locations across America and around the world. Hello, welcome to Need to Know. I'm David Rothkoff, and this week, as every week we're joined by somebody who can help us understand the news, and in this case also sort of appreciate the news a little bit better. We have with us our friend, Waj Ali of the left hook,

and other sources of great fame. How are you doing today, Waj?

I haven't slept. I was up till 5 am. I was with Joanne Reed, our friend, and we waited until NBC called it. So even though I'm tired, and it's a wonderful type of exhausted, if you will, excitement, because I think what we witnessed this morning, not even last night, David, is a watershed moment in American politics.

It reminded me of two events, political events in my life. The 2008 Democratic primary, where I was told that Barack Hussein Obama was unelectable. And I was told to shut up and vote for Hillary Clinton, and that she was going to be the president or our job was to just keep in line,

but then Barack Hussein Obama through his hat in the ring. And voila, you had one of the nastiest, most ugly, vicious, and I would even say, David, racist primaries, and what happened? The Democratic Party was not destroyed. It was not divided. It was good for the Democratic Party. It was healthy fights.

It evolved. Barack Obama destroyed McCain. Then he turned around and said, hey, Hillary,

you want to be my secretary, state, and she said, yes,

reminds me of second moment in 2014, right here in Virginia,

where I was told by the Republicans at the future of the Republican Party was Eric Cantor, young guns, young leaders, Kevin McCarthy, and Eric Cantor, and Paul Ryan, they even wrote a book. None of them are in office right now. David Brett, a Tea Party extremist,

came out of nowhere, dislodged Eric Cantor, and showed the Republican Party, yeah, this is a brand new ballgame, and then a year later he got a Donald Trump descending down the staircase in Voila.

This in 2026 shows me that Abdul Al-Sayed, a Muslim-American progressive person who was proudly abolished, I is proudly Medicare for All, proudly, I won't take money from APAC. Took on not just the entirety of the Democratic establishment.

He took on APAC and he took on $60 million being outspent 10 to 1, and he just shattered the lie, David, that a progressive campaign is not electable in the heart land and the ruse belt of real American Michigan.

So I think we're witnessing something really special.

You're taken. No, no, my take is similar. I think this is part of the progress that parties make, as there's generational change, and as they react to the political realities of preceding years,

and the reality is the country shifted right

with maga and Trump, and they saw that they didn't work. They were disgusted with it, disgusted with the corruption, disgusted with money and politics,

and they said, "No, we've got to move on to something different and they're searching for something different and better." And it's hard to say, "Hey, we're the establishment.

We've been around for the past 20 years. We are what's different." And so that repeatedly does not work. Whereas Dr. El-Sayed came out and he said, "Look, I'm in tune with the people of Michigan.

I want the people of Michigan one. I want roads to be paved. I want to health care for everybody. I want to fair tax code. I want to fight the corruption in Washington.

I want to get money out of politics." And those are things. You know, it's not, you know, people inside the beltway, the Punditarati, they spin these things every different way they can.

And it's like, "Well, what about the DSA? What about the conflict? What about the thing that Mom Donnie has in common with El-Sayed?"

They also have in common with James Talerego

and with Mikey Cheryl and New Jersey.

They're talking about people's problems and saying they're going to solve them. And people are discarding the labels of Washington and the labels of mainstream media.

And they're saying show me who cares about me.

And to me, that's a big story. It's a huge story. And it's a story that goes back 10 years because one of the not the only and not the main reason why Donald Trump won.

If you recall in 2016,

Trump and Bernie came out of nowhere,

right? And galvanized so much support. Bernie is an independent, direct socialist. And Donald Trump is a rapist.

And a con man and a reality TV star. But what did Donald Trump say? He goes, "I'm a bulldozer. I'm an outsider. I know these people.

They're all frauds. They've mucked it up.

Republicans and Democrats and all these politicians.

Take a shot with me. I think you need to just spice it up. And I'll come in and I'll drain this one." What did a lot of people say? All right.

You know, the institutions have failed us. The guardians of the institutions don't care about us. The establishment on both sides have screwed us. They've made money.

We've not made anything.

Let's roll the dice with this freak Donald Trump, right?

And so I think if you've been looking at the trend for the past ten years to your point, David, yeah, people don't care about labels anymore. They're like, "All right. We tried magma. Magma felt, "What do you got?"

Democratic Socialists? Sure. Let's try Democratic Socialism. What do you got? a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like a hike like what do you what do you sell on me people just want anyone who's willing to at least fight for them and for a better future someone who's willing to propose something bold that leads to an exit ramp from this current month that has shown them to work to jobs to stay broke.

They don't a they can't afford health care the average age of Americans to buy a house now is 41 More Americans are stuck on their prints insurance more Americans the young Americans are staying with their home and pulling their resources They're like things have to get better. So if you zone Mamdania, I might not agree with you on three of the 10 things But I agree with you on seven of the things and you seem sincere and authentic and you seem like you're gonna fight Sure zone Mamdania a Muslim American Democratic Socialist. Let's give you a spin and I think Abdul comes in and he says I'm a Michiganer

He's not a Democratic Socialist. I am a progressive. You deserve better money out of politics money in your pockets people like damn right

I voted for a Donald Trump in 2024. I voted for Biden in 2020 because I wanted someone to make my life better I will continue voting for whoever promises change. I don't care about Republicans. I don't care about Democrats 2024 a great little, you know a factoid is that many people who voted for Donald Trump turn around and vote for AOC and then turn around and vote for Mamdania Which proves your point David people care less about affiliations and labels and political parties who will fight for me and who will bring about some change

Yeah, you know the other thing is I mean A labels are one thing the other thing is the the Punditurati you know the ink stained wretches out there they they want to find a conflict wherever they can they want Dems and disarray they want to say You know I'll say

He underperformed right and and you know this is bullshit, you know here you know what happened this morning After Washington Post and AP joined decision desk and NBC and announced again Mallory MacMoro who is running against them Beautiful concession message Haley and she appeared behind a metis speech. She was right there front center right Haley Stevens beautiful concession message

Alyssa Slapkin who was not running with this, you know, who's much more established for beautiful These are this is Dems in a ray When they want to win humor right they they're like guests let's do this, you know, and you know to me I see that and I say later minute this is in about Democratic Socialist because you know there are some people in the national Democratic Socialist part I've if somebody called me Democratic Socialist or social Democrat and I'm saying look fine great

I love a lot of those pausing there's some people in the national Democratic Socialist part who are nuts and I you know Yes, you know, I don't I'm not like you know with that but what I am with because I am died in the world to my very last cell progressive is that the idea that this is the Democratic party doing what it should be doing adapting and shifting becoming more progressive becoming more in tune with the rising generation of voters Who are gonna be the majority right voters born since 1990 will be the majority in 2020

This is the Democrats evolving and doing it in a way, you know, who which par...

Which party is terrible candidates which party is a terrible record which party has an insane leader?

Which party has a real prime problem coming down?

It's the Republicans the Democrats are using this to gain energy and the pundits are like oh no It's a problem you guys are having a problem. Have you seen I mean I'm so I said it yesterday I tweeted in the morning. I knew this was gonna happen

Both things first point. I said the dams will consolidate folks the dams will consolidate

Because we got the punditocracy that suck and I hope they join Elon Musk in a space shuttle to Mars Who are like oh well he only won by one point. Oh, can he meet Rogers? I'm like yes Domasses he can why because you had a bruising primary I go back to 2008 bruising primary once Obama won what did they do? Consolidated they came together like bull-tron and I said now that the primary is over

They're gonna get everyone in line

But you're gonna have three months to win over voters

A lot of the older black voters who voted you know the Demis establishment They will back the dem candidate He has a little bit of work to do but he'll do the work. Malermik Moro. She'll come in even haily Stevens She'll come in shumer will be forced to bend the knee Whitmer will be forced to bend the knee. I don't care how they did it they did it. If Abdul Sayed was smart he'll turn around

Welcome their support. He'll thank Haily Stevens for running a good campaign. He just did it on Twitter 35 minutes ago Malermik Moro if she was smart she would campaign with him already there right now You're gonna see consolidation and then semifur had an article out earlier today. Oh the latest poll numbers Shocking plus a Democrats against Rogers Rogers is a weak candidate. He's a quizzling. He's And nothing he's stuck in the anus of Donald Trump like all these Republicans Trump has a favorability rating of 32 to 34

Everything's gonna get worse. It's a cult. They cannot separate themselves from Trump

Look at the wave years where Michigan went blue same things happening this year. So what like Please explain to me how this is tough. This is bad for progressive It was just it was just the establishment the establishment was trying to come up with a rationale which was said he couldn't win

The reality is not only of course he can Rogers a terrible candidate and

That was brought out this morning in the in the remarks of Now Democratic candidate when he said Rogers when he lost the last time moved to Florida. He said right he wanted to go play golf. He started taking him apart You know the Rogers campaign what afterman said well we will now oppose Abdul Ruffman Bababa Bababa you know and they came out with his full name because they wanted to do the Barack Hussein Obama

Zora and Mamdaani thing but even pronounced it properly right but but you know Dr. Alsayd said um is that the best you've got you know what my name is lower gas prices I thought it was so it was so it was because that's something else we need now is people who like Mamdaani Like Mikey Cheryl like Talorika they get how to communicate with modern Media and they are therefore able to win when the other guy out spends them 10 to one and you know to me I wrote my

Need to know substeck the other day about this saying he was gonna win But one of the things I said was the story we're missing in all of this is Voters won't be bought That everybody talks about citizens united but we can nullify citizens united By simply not falling for it and this happened in case after case yesterday by the way

It's happened in case after case when Elon Musk tried to buy a Supreme Court seat in Wisconsin It's happened with a pack in case after case voters are like no this is bad and toxic And let me have one thing to fan the flames Because I know this will wind you up and then you can comment on this in general because 16 minutes ago I saw that a pack has put out a statement and a pack said congratulations on our 30 pro Israel candidates

And then it is second paragraph

It said our members remain determined to ensure that voters reject Dr. El Said and his radical anti Israel agenda in November and all I thought was Thank you. Yes, thanks. Thanks, say pack you're the most toxic branded politics Nobody wants anything the fuck to do with you because they know that when you say pro Israel That's not you mean you mean pro BB you mean pro genocide you mean pro LaClaude you mean pro extreme right pro Trump

You don't mean what you say you're gonna mean and

This is what happened in this way. I was $60 million spent on behalf of Stevens on a pack and a pack related things and the people of Michigan said nope

No, you can't buy us and and this you can't buy us. I think could be a major theme Through no bear if you're enjoying this episode and want to get even more out of the DSR network

I've just recorded the first episode of our new season talking about the state of play for the iomol's net zero framework In the wake of the just concluded latest mpc meeting The big question I hear again and again is what happens next and how quickly In this episode I unpack what's moving what's stolen and what that means for future decisions and timelines Search for maritime impact on your favorite podcast platform stay tuned. I

That's very good. I do think so you can bias and I think a pack yesterday on Twitter. I said thank you a pack

Couldn't have done it without you Thank you a pack you helped up little say the win. It's remark David we're both young men Every single time you come at me. Okay, fine, I will I will say you're a couple years here Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, did you I mean remark

A pack literally harming a candidate A packs 40 million dollars harming a candidate. I mean folks

We are in new waters. I'm telling you listen to us with the gray hair I just saw what you just said about a pack he's the apex on this message by an hour ago AOC about 22 minutes ago responded to it and and she said this I'm gonna quote her I appreciate a pack Proving it doesn't belong in the dead party and especially our primaries from endorsing January six members to ensuring Congress remains in the hands of a 34 count fell in

A pack is an organization committed to undermining democracy at home in a broad See you in November and a pack has now signaled that it's gonna spend in saying amount of money for Republican Mike Rogers and

You know what the young Republicans their pissed off that apex by about 32 to 34 million dollars has struck amount of money to dislodge

Thomas Massie Thomas Massie has huge support of young Republicans who are also radicalized When it comes to Israel and the genocide and occupation so A pack in a you know in my prediction was yesterday So a friend was asked me like what do you think A pack's gonna do? I'm like A pack is just gonna double down They don't know what else to do

They're like not Samson approach bring down everything so congratulations A pack We want more of you to be out in the public go ahead and spend and anyone who's associated with you and take Your money now is becoming more and more radio active This is a remarkable shift in American politics and in Shadla can be a remarkable shift in our disastrous foreign policy Especially when it comes to this qualified military edge this unconditional support for Israel

I think this is gonna send shock waves and I'm really good. Dave. What do you think you think for democrats?

I was having conversation with a friend yesterday He said oh the fact that Abdul say the only one by one point means that people are gonna Wawful and might they might still stay attached to A pack. I said the opposite I said that the fact that 60 plus million mostly not exclusively came from A pack and still wasn't enough to dislodge Abdul said and the fact that it actually hurt Stevens will make many of these

Quizzlings who've been on the fence for the past two and a half years. Say oh, let me evolve on this issue But what do you think? Well, I think that if she spent 10 to outspend 10 to one or nine to one or whatever That she outspend and and he won You know you only have to win by one vote, right? And he won you know he won by 40,000 votes at least That's more votes than say Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton by in 40,000 in 20 and 2016, right?

So you know, it's decisive enough And frankly if I had told you a year ago that here's this guy who has come out of left field literally and figuratively and he Is gonna get outspend 10 to one and he is gonna take a strong stand against

A pack and a strong stand against the you know US position of blank check the...

Take a strong stand against the democratic establishment and You would say well, yeah, I hope he can do okay, you know, I hope he makes an imp but if I told you it's going to win You would think that was amazing

You know, and part of the problem is two or three days ago there were a bunch of polls that said he was going to win by 20 or 10 or 12 points

Polls before primaries are notoriously inaccurate, but but these pundits are going well he didn't win by that much and and and and then You know under their breath are going those polls don't count anyone The reality is this is a resounding victory when you consider the financial odds against him Q the establishment odds against him and I think it's got you know long-term repercussions and I'd like it It's a talk about I was one of the things because he because you brought up foreign policy

I've chair a couple of groups of them foreign policy people including I'm I'm helping to leave one on US Middle East policy I just tell you this right now this idea blank check for Israel Dead, it's dead. It's it's it's it's it's over where we are headed

going going forward is you know Israel get treated like any of our other allies when they are an ally

You know we don't send aid to France right If they are doing stuff that supports our national interests we're happy they oppose it

Then we penalize them in some way and that's what's going to happen with Israel whether they like it or not

Because both political parties agree with that But anyway, there's this other thing that's going on here and I'm thinking about this and I haven't heard anybody talking about it today But in addition to the mum Donnie's and the coastal victories for the for the left and and they've been going on for a while You know Michelle Wu in Boston is an excellent mayor and excellent potential and also yesterday don't even McKinney

One Donovan McKinney the others other other I mean I think they're in 11 out of 16 races yesterday

Where progress they won but but but here's the thing that I I found

Kind of interesting you know you've got this woman who's a self-described don't crack socialist Frank Jessica Hong in Wisconsin She's she's a head you've got people a head in multiple states who are in this this this this new realm this sort of new more progressive leaning Democrats As I look at 2028 and I say well what if what if they win in November

You know

How does how does this affect the calculus of 2028 where people are like well AOC couldn't win?

You know what could AOC win if Michigan Alex Alcyad could AOC win if Michigan and Wisconsin have moved into this progressive direction and I think the answer to that is yeah, it's a whole new body it changes the national politics if they win in the heart I you know what so two things to your to your point I think she can

I think things are gonna get far worse David than the next we've talked about this I hope I'm wrong David I think things are gonna get far worse than the next two I think things are gonna get far worse than America the next three months This failed illegal war in Iran. It's not stopping David gas prices are gonna stay high Donald Trump's gonna get more corrupt

We're gonna get the permanent billionaire tax cuts. Thank you Republicans Right after the midterms which is gonna gut Medicaid to the tune of one trillion dollars so now you fast forward two years David let's go let's let's take the time machine back to two two thousand five to two thousand seven You just remember how things got so much worse the failed war the failed economy the failed response to Katrina As things get worse you're gonna see more and more people radicalize in a good way

In the past four months, David. I would say going back to April since from April to now Look at how so many voters real voters Ross belt voters traditional Americans have become radicalized against AI data centers. It is now 80% of Americans. I expect in two years sadly tragically

Things are gonna be worse people are gonna be in pain if up. They'll say wins and I think he'll

He's gonna beat Rogers the fact that you had McKinny one the fact you had Lawrence one the fact that you have Daria Liza one the fact they have Mamdoni winning the fact that you Have Francesca Hong I want to talk about Francesca. I'm gonna ask you a question about Francesca because I have a prediction and I want you to take on this Why can't AOC win in 2028 why is it so crazy David when

It when people who voted for Trump in 2024 voted for her in 2024.

I know okay, look you know I was there

You big you know because I'm as young as you are when when they said Obama could win yep

And frankly I was there when they said Joe Biden couldn't win

Now frankly I was not a big Biden supporter, but but but but the reality is

He then went in and and presented probably the most liberal economic agenda of any American president the fast 30 years And they were both long shots who people didn't get a check anybody who tells you they know how this is gonna turn out right now Is lying to you they don't know but people who make these definitive statements In light of the shifts in American politics they also rely they don't know AOC certainly could win and if it's not AOC When I go around what do you see we you know we you and I live 15 miles from each other but you go around where we go around

The the name that I hear the most often right as John Assa You know and people are just like oh yeah this guy's great he's young he's got new ideas he's bubble is gonna fizzle Well he I mean Okay, so you know I'm

I have to extend my my my my caveat to you as well we don't know all we don't know because we don't know what the issue is gonna be

I'll give you an example you just you just I mean we don't know whether there's a war we don't know whether that you know

But give you an example say the Democrats do pretty well When they if they do pretty well and the next thing is a trillion dollar cut in Benefits to to American citizens they'll put up a vote And they will they will pass if they win the house in the Senate a repeal of that and Trump will veto it And the Republican Party will all of a sudden be on a hook

Do you support this or not they'll have to vote on an override? You know the the the the point is we don't know if that's gonna be the deciding issue We don't know if there the AI bubble is gonna burst and there's gonna be a recession we don't know

But do I think AOC is in the top tier of the top five candidates who could be the next Democratic presidential nominee?

Absolutely, yeah look fair enough with off off The reason why I said I think will fizzle off is because yeah, I Kind of like a branch shining new toy and I see how American media kind of gets you know enamored by this He's he's very good for Georgia. I think he has a if he places cars right I think he he he you have a very good career But the reason why I'm much more bullish

on saying AOC And again, we'll see things change is because I think people want bold change David. They want fighters off is a bit Handicap because he's in Georgia, right so a person like AOC though And even like a Taloreco or earn awesome right like Mamnani gave you the playbook

Accountability affordability be bold be fighters take on the corruption take on the billionaire class take on the one percent And this is where I wanted to ask you this isn't you know, I said two months ago. I was in the command to go. I said After the Valdez and and lander and Valerie Lisa victories I said all eyes on Michigan the establishment will try to crush of the will say they tried they try really hard They said Clyburn they said Whitmer

You had 60 million dollars you had a Pac-Man and he's still one now I said

They're gonna dare they will make sure Francesca Hong never ever ever ever ever

Ever becomes governor of Wisconsin never ever never ever ever Your take on what they're gonna do to Hong and Kenji actually went Oh Schluss with the evigen abtippen from Katen Homan thank visor click to pay ohne 16 stellige cart number one to give pass further nach to schlagen or extra

In this episode I unpack what's moving what's stalling and what that means for future decisions and timelines Shoot from every time impact on your favorite podcast platform stay tuned

I first was you know according to polls she can definitely win she's she's be...

Secondly she's got something else that we don't talk about when we're smart political pendits right

But if you were to say well what makes mom donny or Elsayed or AOC or Assoff or Talloreco what what makes them different They communicate differently they communicate in a style that works with current media Talloreco Assoff, AOC, Mamdoni they're also

Under 40 or they're 40 inch they are a completely different generation of people and when I listen to hon I think

She gets it, you know I haven't been her last week. I think so also, you know it's like you want to debate her

You know, I mean today Alsayed said

He wants to five debates with my graduate. I doubt I'll do any debate because these guys will get creamed by these people just a little bit You know, and just the way Mamdoni rent circles around there and then I and my take a little day of the rookies They'll bring up stupid old tweets the things giving tweet. I think it's no one's gonna give a shit I think you to take that tweet you apologize for it. You pivot right back to the agenda You pivot right back to your talking point

My his nothing. Well, it's just there these people are quick on their feet these other people are not quick on their feet I'm just saying I think it is time for generational change and leaders So that suggests to me that there will be a new generation of leaders and and and you know, I think AOC and Assoff are roughly the same age You know that I think I know Assoff by the time of the next election

Where he the president when he got inaugurated in 2029 He'd be 42 I think so so it is it's just something big and different But you know the other thing about Hong is where did reform movement start in the United States In Wisconsin Right it started there in the 1890s

You know that the idea that the Midwest does not embrace reform is crazy And I do think that there are a lot of people there who are scared to death by AI taking their jobs in AI data centers and Chinese electric vehicles and Unbeing unable to put their kids into college and disappearing health care and no retirement and all other stuff They're like you know stop with the Republican Democrat mega progressive

Who's gonna help me?

That's right. You know who's who's gonna help me? Who do I believe is actually gonna help me?

This is the thing you know mom Donnie came in and all these crazy billionaires were like Well, there were leaving New York. Well, of course, they're not but then the pod holes get filled He's surprises the rent He's setting up grocery stores. It's got free pre-k for little kids because they need to have that

This is the first six months crime in New York is at the lowest level. It's been in the one

And that's what that's what matters is just Trump is a pathological liar running a party that doesn't do anything except give more to the rich They've lost their credibility. Mike Rogers can't say one thing Donald Trump did this for you And nobody will believe it because he hasn't done anything and so I don't I I exactly your message like you have used our money To fund illegal wars to protect the Epstein class and to make the 1% richer at our expense. That's it and and

He has to defend it. Mike Rogers has to go out there for the next three months and defend the failed war He has to go out there and defend the failed economic policies. He has to go out there and defend ice killing Americans He has to go out there and defend Donald Trump and Todd Blanche are covering up the Epstein files. He has to go defend Mike Johnson who came out earlier today and said he'd stand by a

alleged wife of user Max Miller. You have to defend Donald Trump

Bailing out excuse me pardoning all of these money launders. You have to go defend Donald Trump wasting money on the reflecting pool and the bunker You have to go defend 1600 violent insurrectionist being part of good luck Mike Rogers you have to go defend high gas prices and grocery prices good luck Right and and you know unlike you know the president's cabinet who lies to him to his face. You're gonna have to go out and say what we did this Anything name anything name one thing that Donald Trump has done that's good for the country

But you know, I think the other thing is and it colors how this race is gonna turn out it goes to my point about awesome, but it goes to the other point is

We're there we have 89 days to go before the election

Nothing good is gonna happen for Donald Trump in the next 89 days nothing. You know you talk about wave elections

This war is not gonna be solved even if they say there's a solution that's gonna be bad for America

Prices are not gonna go down prices are gonna go up markets are super jittery right now If there is a big downturn in the market that'd be super bad for them The Epstein thing is not going away There are other things coming up, you know the tates are going on trial in the UK and the tates are tied to the Republicans and the Baron Trump and whatever

The point is I can think of 15 things that could make things much worse for the Republicans and I can't think of one that are gonna make it any better for the Republicans And that means that these people are gonna have the wind at their backs and all of a sudden It's gonna be great. I'm definitely calling you the day after the November election People are gonna come out on the other side of the election and they're gonna do what they did in 2024 Well, what are the lessons and the lessons are gonna be

more progressive younger willing to fight a post-decorruption opposed to money and politics It's gonna be all this stuff that you and I've been talking about for years and people are gonna go oh, yeah That's something new and fresh and American

Yeah, yeah, and we'll never get credit for it and then there'll be a never Trump Republican who comes in and agrees with one talking point and they will be other

That's what look, look Tucker Carlson, that's what he's doing. You say and I don't like this war

And I'm getting on this group of people together and we're gonna fracture off the Republican and I you know Who it couldn't happen to a nicer group of people fracture away, but but what they're doing is picking up a couple of these points There were Republicans who say well no more funding for Israel You know there there were Republicans who are you know, you know turn out the you know It's you know but at you know, but at least the absteen fights, right? You know that so that this is happening and so we're seeing fragmentation there

But you know, I guess I want to wrap up by going to your main point Which is something big is happening in American politics and it's time that people Set aside the the the the the Washington talking head nonsense and realize This is a shift It's a generational shift

It's a positive shift

The Democrats are gonna be able to manage this shift and it's good news and so what happened yesterday and Michigan

Is goodness and there's so much bad news out there Let's take a moment and embrace the goodness Absolutely amen. I think this is look Apparently the only people who could do identity politics in America or white men in maga, but let me you know Play at any politics as a Muslim American man the son of Muslim immigrants

It is remarkable to me to see the fact that my country Elected Zaron Maldani a Muslim

South Asian immigrant to be the mayor of one of the great cities in the world New York. I never thought I would see it

It is remarkable to me that Abdul Raman who have known for several years A Muslim American man practicing Muslim man married to his high school sweetheart T Toler good guy smart guy Is going to in Shala represent the state of Michigan as a potential senator the fact that he won that primary Despite the onslaught of so much outside money the Islamophobia the entire Democratic and Republican establishment coming out against him Stanchely on a progressive platform where he went 10 toast down against the billionaires against a pack against Israel's genocide for abolish

Foreign Medicare for all and the people said yeah, I like this guy I like what he's selling and the fact that he can win that primary and he's very close to becoming the first Muslim-American senator who didn't have to throw people under the bus to get their David is Remarkable and it still shows us the promise of this flawed country that we live Totally does although I saw I'm many Hassan and I brought the same thing. I'm I'm blue sky at the same time

I feel for the next three months for you man because the Islamophobia that is coming out In in response to this thing is going to be so hideously ugly Yeah, it's already started already started today. Yeah, I know it it has and I'm just saying You know it's time to you know we've all got to sort of buckle up and take that and realize that it Reveals them for who they are and that something better is actually possible

And you know for people who want to know more about that Definitely the left hook on a regular basis is a great way to do it you are certainly

Doing God's work every single day and so I hope our conversation continues

And that we can enjoy this shift together

Absolutely amen. Thank you so much for inviting me that of course. Thank you so much. Bye bye
